Many years ago I suffered a head injury which severed the olfactory nerve, resulting in a loss of smell. Prior to that event I wore Quorum and Tabac. Since then I've become aware of the need for a more mature fragrance. I am also acutely aware of the possibility of overpowering or overdoing the fragrance as I cannot measure the effect.
Nowadays I totally rely on trusted others opinions, of course. Your advice and critique of more recent fragrances is a Godsend Ash. Floris Elite sounds like the type of fragrance I'm looking for. Once again, thank you and look forward to more updates such as this.

Full bottle on the way. Bought a full sized Elite, 127, and Santal. With age comes appreciation of these "classic" scents. They're subtle, almost purely for personal enjoyment, and what fragrance should be. Clean, refreshing, sophisticated, and interesting. Not shouty, bombastic, candy stores.

@@TheChapsGuide 127 and Elite were blind buys. I already own No.89 so Special 127 is well received. Elite is a risky blind buy based on your review. It is fantastic! I don't care for Guerlain Vetiver or Polo Green which this always gets compared to, this is a masterpiece. A real signature scent contender.

Im still in awe of the thoroughness of your analysis here Ash. I also took note of the honorably mentioned #89, 127 and their most famous patrons. The description of the Floris firm makes me even more curious to pick up one of them. The age references and stage of life commentary alone is worth it to every gentleman. Sharing this one.

Mulberry Fig has been my new Floris London love, but I absolutely can't live without Elite, No.89, 007, Vert Fougĕre and 127. gonna give JF, Santal, Platinum 22, and Cefiro a try soon.

As a 22 year old whose signature scent is Chanel Platinum Egoiste, I appreciate the time and effort that you put into this review. I've been in the fragrance game for a number of years, and have really stepped into the realm of classicly mature scents (Chanel Pour Monsieur EDT/EDP, Polo Green, Dior Eau Sauvage, Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme etc.) and based on this video, Elite might just be my next purchase. Thanks again for the info. Cheers

Hello Ash: I acquired a bottle of Floris Elite last spring. At first I thought it was a bit old school and clean but after I wore it a few times I became aware of the complexity of the fragrance. It is definitely a scent for a mature person and it is timelessly classic. I also own Floris Cefiro and Floris Bergamot di Positano . The later two are very classy and seem luxurious as well but they are lighter and more suited for summer. I should mention I am 57 years old and 3 out of the 4 fragrances that I wear are from Floris.
    Thanks for the content.

I am still using my No 89 from Floris it is an Eau De Toilette. I have used up my No 89 after shave, as it had become my favorite. I must say a big thank you to you, Ash. Floris has become a mainstay in my collection, and it is from your reviews. Another favorite is Taylor of Old Bond Street, the Eaton Collage Collection.

I bought this a couple of months ago. The opening is absolutely magnificent...as is the dry down, but once it dries down it gets very very weak - at least for me. Sometimes when my colognes sit for many months, they become stronger - I am hoping for this. I love your videos, sir.

Allbeauty has Floris products from £52 -£59 I have used them twice,
and they delivered the genuine goods extremely quickly. I'm glad you were honest about the fragrances being slightly traditional. I have to admit I have to be in the right mood to wear them.

Excellent Review. I personally have been enjoying some samples of Castle Forbes I obtained from a barber shop here in Taipei. Unfortunatelly I am unable to buy full bottles of their fragrances here, (It seems I have to resort to quite high priced overseas shipping). I have watched multiple reviews you have done on Floris now, and I was wondering if you have tried any of the Castle Forbes fragrances and if so, what your thoughts might be for comparison, as several of the descriptions you give seem to be quite similar to how I would describe the CF samples I have.
I notice that Floris is quite a bit more expensive being a storied brand; a bottle of Floris Special 127 EdT is 100GBP compared to Castle Forbes 1445 EdP a mere 65GBP. There is a Floris shop at a shopping mall here in Taipei, and I'm considering going to try some. If you have any thoughts or suggestions please let me know.
    Regards from Taiwan.

I own neroli voyage and santal and have had JF in the past. They grow on you over time and you will find yourself loving them more than when you first sprayed it. The only thing I’d stress to anyone buying their first bottle is that the longevity is not the best but I think that’s down to not overusing chemicals and their fragrances having a sort of natural, light scent

I have been using Elite since the 1980s. Back then I visited London almost every Christmas. Back then, bed and breakfast was still affordable, or rather very cheap. I preferred to spend the money I saved in Jermyn St. I still remember, among other things, I bought “Elite” from Floris or my first pipe + pipe tobacco from Dunhill. Jermyn St. has had a similar magnetic pull on me every time I've visited London. I still use this fragrance today and as I can see in the background of you the bottle seems to have stayed the same but I have a smaller logo. I fell in love with this scent, I never got bored of it. I can agree with everything you said about this fragrance, it is definitely not a unisex fragrance.

The Floris London is the best perfumers in the World. I love so much. The Elite is good for the party time. I love so much the Leather oud, Jermyn Street, Neroli Voyage and Elite. My suster favourite fragrance is the Cherry Blossom. Although my desire would be to create a Bespoke fragrance, unfortunately it is not cheap.

Bergamot is always a win in my book, especially a more moderatley "fresh" citrus-y that's pleasing without being ouvertly summery and more of a four seasom fragrance.
Don't know if a significantly more powerful and moderate 4711-ish fragrance is worth the price of a Floris fragrance though... might have to get a tester for verification😉.
    Thanks for the review!

It was actually a shaving cream released in 1851 I believe but never an aftershave, then in the late 60s Carlos benaim working for ralph Lauren copied it and released polo which was a major success, floris didn't release it as an aftershave until the Early 70s , the original polo was literally sublime but obviously wasn't anything new as it was copied from this fragrance.

Floris is a Top house! Very high quality. But i find them to conservative! I put them at number 3 on my list., When we shop for brit eritage parfumery houses! First for me is Creed by a large margin, then Penhaligon’s and Floris. I tried even very high end parfum such clive christian and roja, but i do always come back to Creed ( royal oud, green iris tweed and original vetivier are my top fragrances from them). Of course Nice to have floris too ona a collection, but is nothing that makes me say wow.

I bought samples of the various Floris fragrances on offer - but sadly none of them did much for me. However, I also bought a sample of Acqua Di Parma Cologne (the one in the mango orange coloured box), and I adore it - will be investing in a bottle as either a birthday or Christmas gift to myself! Unfortunately my absolute favourite fragrances - Givenchy Xeryrus original, and Givenchy Very Irresistible have both been discontinued for many years now, so I’m eking out my bottles!

I gently reminded her that her sense of smell was totally shot, and that anything that smelled OK to her would be blowing everybody else away. Dunno. Wonder where I can find some of that good old Jade East? Now there is a manly fragrence. Keep on rockin' in a free world man. You are doing a good job.
