    Similar to Phillips hue go, but less than half the price.

      I haven't tried out the Hue Go so I don't know which would be better but I'd be curious which has better colors and brightness. Even if its the hue, I doubt its double the price better though. lol

    Can I use this product without the echo dot?

    2:27 is wifi required for set up? I don't have wifi at my house, I only have a smart phone that in turn has internet. I was hoping to buy this and control it using my phone. Is this possible?

      I don't think so, but give me a couple days to try and set it up that way.

      I haven't forgotten about you! I tried to reset my glow but when I set it up it autoconnected to one of my WiFi networks and I can't find out where in Amazon it's saved to remove it.
      I'll have to take it for a drive in the next few days and set it up without any known WiFi nearby

      @@BeardedTechGuy oh and, my guess is the wifi info is saved in your Alexa app's data. You could clear that data from your phone and the app would have a clean slate but then you'd lose all of your settings, and I'm guessing any timers and such you may have set up.

    I don't understand. Can the Echo Glow be directly controlled without the Alexa app (after setup) using voice commands given to the an Echo Dot or an Echo? I want to just be able to say to my Echo Dot or Echo "Alexa, turn on the Echo Glow"

    • @BeardedTechGuy
      @BeardedTechGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use your voice to control the echo glow

    Thanks for the video... I will be purchasing one of these to help my 7-year-old know when it's okay to get up and come out of her room in the morning. She has a habit of waking up too early.

    I bought an echo kid edition for my nephew, on sale now and the glow was only $10. I think he’ll love them!

    How do you connect it to your echo dot (3)

    • @BeardedTechGuy
      @BeardedTechGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adding the echo glow to your amazon account will allow for you to control it with any alexa that is also tied to your account

    Oh this is pretty neat I didn’t know Amazon made this! How are the colors and brightness?

    • @BeardedTechGuy
      @BeardedTechGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I wasn't aware of it until about a month ago but I guess its been out for a while. The colors are good for the price point. It's not a Hue Go or Bloom but those are also more money so I guess keep that in mind

  • @Joeki11a

    Wait it can't connect to 1 Gig wifi...why? lol

      Honestly most smart home devices typically only support 2.4GHz. 2.4 Can travel further and has better ability to go through objects and most devices (specially something like this that's just command and control) don't need much bandwidth. It really only becomes a problem when you are in a heavily saturated area from a RF standpoint or if you are pushing 2k / 4k video stream from a security camera.
      I actually just have a separate SSID for my smarthome devices so that they don't impact the performance of my wireless AC network. Also allows for me to keep the IoT junk away from everything else more easily :)

    Hi, I need your help.
    I am in Canada and I have several Echo devices. I bought an Echo Glow from eBay.
    I can not find the Echo Glow in the Amazon app. Thanks.

    • @BeardedTechGuy
      @BeardedTechGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Unfortunately it looks like the echo glow is not supported in Canada. I can't find any reference to it on the Amazon Canada website. Not sure why a color changing LED would be region restricted, seems pretty silly.

      @@BeardedTechGuy Ok, this is weird. I had plans to make a routine for night light in the living room.
      Is there a way to make it work even if I am in Canada ? Nothing illegal but just a trick ?

    • @BeardedTechGuy
      @BeardedTechGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I couldn't find a way to make them work. My only thought would be to setup a US based amazon account to tie it to and set it up on a timer. Not sure if that would be helpful for your routine. Outside of that I couldn't find a way to make them work in regions that don't support them currently.
