I agree with most of your points but I quite like the 08 on interior. Much better than the dated bank of buttons on the previous one!
The biggest annoyance for me is the rattles and squeaks from all the trim, no keyless entry and having to keep it on a battery maintainer even though it is a daily driver. I am hoping deactivating the tracker at the next service will sort that last point out though.

I’ve been lucky with mine. I’ve read a few reports of rattles and squeaks but mines not got any 🙏

As an owner of a V8V. A Good evaluation which didn't cover the usual handbrake in the wrong place etc. I totally agree with the front grille...added to which it always goes milky after a few weeks and needs polishing. The other one would be the horrendous power drain in your garage from tracker. Mine has the later tracker installed and even then it would flatten the battery in less that two weeks if left without a trickle charge. Great car though. ..I love it

The head lamps have exactly the same problem as the rear. They leak and mist up whenever it’s raining.

Mat Armstrong is rebuilding a Vantage currently...he was quoted £5.5K from Aston Martin for a track rod end so found out that Jaguar use the same one at a fraction of the cost 👍

Not sure what you mean re the door cards being glued. Mine are attached with bolts and when the card is off there are a lot of screws and bolts holding the parts together

The leather panel that is central on the doorcard is glued into plate.

The grill on my previously owned Vantage was dire in terms of build quality and inability to retain sheen but I have found the overall build on my 2011 Virage is much better. Aston 1936 has done several videos on cheaper and sometimes better alternatives but you’re right; it’s infuriating the high level of markup by Aston Martin. Still love the car!

Strange choice to anodise isn’t it being that it damages so easily

Another great video! One question, the seating position is very low down and dash appears high as a result. Is this an issue? I am 6'2''' so hopefully my height compensates for this.

      Thanks dude!
It is, your right. But I think it adds to the "performance car experice" I'm 6 foot and although it was daunting when I first drove it, I soon got used to it.

I don’t have long term experience but one thing is seriously wrong. The paint quality is unreal. Or rather the paint preparation from the factory. Sure it looks great for a long time on cars that don’t spend their life outside, but the car I bought recently clearly has spent a long time outside. I know from the dealer that sold the car to me as well as the previous owner, that both doors have had the corrosion issues around the door handles. Nevertheless, mine has issues with corrosion under the passenger door mirror and even more alarming in the roof. That is still an open issue with Aston Martin.

Yeah for sure. My car lives outside aswell so I guess my blistering around the handles and key hole is in the post

To be fair I could have gone much harder on this list now I really think about it haha

😂 I forget literally every time as well when I fill up. You’d think I’d have learned by now seeing as this thing drinks like an ocean liner 🤷🏼‍♂️

You did a great job on the rebuild, I watched every video but if you're so pissed off just sell the car. I'm sure you understand the company history and why its a bin parts car, and even today it's still a bin parts car. Small car companies do not have the funding for research etc; until AM is bought by Mercedes or Audi or whoever, the issues will remain the same. But really this video is so full of contradiction. I have a DB9, yes it's ancient technology, yes its full of Ford and Volvo parts, yes it has its pain in the arse niggles, yes the leather dash shrinks (same as Ferrari and others) and so on, but it's what the car makes you feel when you drive it and that is why you love it as much as you hate it.

I'm not pissed off with it, I just think it's quite interesting some of the build quality querks with a premium brand.
Thanks for watching the videos, glad you enjoyed them (except this one)

I’d love a Aston but like my Harley you are paying for the name .
