There doesn't even need to be wind and you can feel it move. All tall structures like that, naturally sway or they would break. And if you stand still, even with little to no winds, you'll still feel the sway.
Went to school at SLU and lived there for a few years, but never have I been in the Arch-I am terrified of heights. I have taken many friends and relatives to the Arch but never went up. I never felt unsafe in st louis, so i am somewhat bewildered with the moniker of worst city for crime. It is a beautiful and historic city. If I could afford a property in the CWE I would move back in a heartbeat.
I visited St. Louis recently and the city is great, St. Louisans are nice folks and I loved the eclectic neighborhoods (especially The Hill). The only knock on St. Louis is the food. I made an effort to eat out for the 3 days I was there and had the worst food I have ever tasted from several "celebrated" restaurants. I was psyched to eat authentic Italian cuisine in The Hill but 2 of the restaurants I tried were just awful. I don't know how people living in St. Louis eat out!
This was a great quality video with views of the STL stadium, when we drove through the state it was raining and Zepplin was blasting on the cd the song was "When the Levee Breaks" it was cool- didnt realize city was so big until I saw this vid. driving thorugh over Miss river it didn't seem that big, the arch was huge to drive under, I wanna go in the arch now, but I am chlosterphobe as h3ll and all of those ppl eeek, think I will stick the videos for now.....
i went up to the arch one time with my aunt uncle and cousins i dont live there but its was cool im going again next year! cuz i live all the way to Florida :c
BigTexan7 - Yep, some of the food on The Hill is traditional HEAVY pasta - not my favorite either. Ahhhh, but have you tried toasted ravioli or an Amighetti sandwich? To die for! Maybe next time.
@BigTexan7 lived in stl all my life! the closest thing i've had to great italian food is the pizza! i completely agree with you as to fine dinning! but you should have tried the pizza its fantastic! and i now live in san antonio texas and its incredible here also!
@codybe2cool i know exactly what u mean!! Its alot more dense then people think once you get downtown..You really do feel like your in a big city! But at the same time you can be anywhere you want in 20 minutes or less...Go LOU!!
@marshan3q st.louis doesnt have the worst crime rate! east st.louis (illinois) has the worst crime rate! and i live in texas and know this! i've been to st.louis numerous times. even once lived there! and not once heard a police siren! i went downtown, north county, west county, and south county chesterfield! i've even been to parts of the city and loved it! on my way back to texas we came across east stl and it looked horrible! very poverty stricken area which causes a high crime rate!
in the very beginning its a tight squeeze if ur clastraphobic dont go ( i know i spelt it wrong) * I threw up twice* im also afraid of Heights. im 15mins away from St.louis arch
The reason st.louis is the best city is because places like chicago and NY yeah there bigger but there crowded they stink they are just so.. idk not "homey" st.louis is a big city but not a big city its a city were you can feel like you still live in a small town but also in a big city... if that makes any sense idk
I went up the arch when I visited St Louis back in 2001 and it was amazing the arch is something you have to do everytime you go to St Louis

@PatriotIzzy : The viewing room is not claustrophobic, but the little capsule you go up in is.
i freakin' love St.Louis

Im about to come up in a few days and was wondering how late the final ride goes up. I know it close at 6:00 but when do you need to be there

Looks so claustrophobic up in the viewing room D:
@iWoodcuttin if your afraid of heights 630 feet above the ground isnt where you should be lol.
in the very beginning its a tight squeeze if ur clastraphobic dont go ( i know i spelt it wrong) * I threw up twice* im also afraid of Heights. im 15mins away from St.louis arch
This arch was copied from the one projected by Adalberto Libero for "esposizione universale romana" or E.U.R 1942.
Learn to pan the camera around slowly to stabilize the image..
Not really..have lived here 23 years and love it..has nothing to do with the Arch
lol me to
If you live in Missouri and dont like it.....GET THE **** OUT!!!
@MightyStarsky well I've lived here for 18 years and been to both of those plenty of times, still sucks ass!

These ppl must be from outta state cuz anyone and everyone knows theres nothing special about the state of missouri worth filming!
Lets face it. If it wasn't for St.louis, Missouri would be a pretty boring state.
