I am on board with most but as you say, lifestyle matters. I have not worked outside of the home since 1997! I'm an empty-nester but no grandchildren yet. My climate gets cold in the winter so I love to rotate coats. I'm on the tall side and have always been thin so I have some flexibility with styles but I love black leggings tucked in tall boots and a turtleneck with my long coat. I have a variety of accessories to mix it up but this is my uniform and it works. I love not feeling a need to follow any specific trends and I am mostly into neutrals. I did buy 2 Farm Rio coats last year which are cheery in late winter.
I’m dreading the wide leg/ mom jeans trend. I went shopping at outlets last week for jeans and after visiting 6 stores, I bought only jogger cargo pants! The jeans were awful and added 10+ pounds to my frame! I’m stuck with my skinny jeans for now, even though I feel it is time to shift to another style.
Excellent Nancy. I agree with you 100%. For me it's basics all the way. Business casual for, as you said, going out to dinner or lunch. Well done as always.
I have wide leg jeans. And they are high cut. So it hides my middle. And I love them. I also bought a cropped jacket to wear with them. I also carry a logo handbag. And I spent good money on it. So I’m carrying it until I die. I bought a camel dress coat for the winter. It really hasn’t been cold enough to wear it yet. But I’m sure it will be. I don’t wear many trends. I like to stick to basics. I’m retired and live in the country. So my life is pretty basic.
I enjoy these type videos. You mention several times about considering body shape so as not to accentuate problem areas. I think another point is one's height. I am 5'2, 120 lbs. One of my fav things is an afternoon trying on clothes. I do think, however, that some styles just don't "work" on shorter bodies. Most models appear tall. You did not mention footwear in this video. You often see long boots finishing off an outfit (a look I love!), but I don't know if that looks well on me. I'm no longer able to comfortably wear much of a heel, but I do like the trend of fashion platform OR wedge sneakers. Good riddance to logo items, ripped jeans, and cold shoulder.
Wow some of the comments on your headband are brutal. I wonder if these viewers are as blunt with their IRL friends? Unrelated thought but I just don't like cargo pants - at least not on me. I'm short, not slim, I don't need all that clutter on the lower part of my body.
I don't mind a small logo here or there, but I agree I don't want to be a billboard. Logos are on so many things we buy, including cars, children's gear, and even many of our home products - it's hard to completely avoid them.
I think it would be nice on its own but is competing with the glasses and scarf. You are so pretty and need to let your features comes through as opposed to covering them up.
Sorry Nancy, but that black hairband that you wear looks horrible. If you need to use a hairband, can you not use something small and neutral. Looks weird.
Cargo pants are awesome for travel😊
I agree, especially if you are sightseeing or doing activities!

I like the look of basics and if you own a few pieces you can mix and match. Kindness, Teresa
The statement coats are good. Takes time, effort, and luck to score the right one. :) Thanks!
A big thank you! Theres so much going on its hard to figure out how to stay modern sometimes. Great tips. I agree with all your suggestions. ❤❤❤

I’ll stick to the basics! Thank you Nancy for providing the trends.
I'm happy to help keep you in the know! 😉

I love florals. I am going to give that a try with a piece or two.
That's great to hear, Karen! I'm glad you found a trend you're excited to incorporate into your wardrobe 😍

Thanks so much, Buffy! Wishing you a wonderful holiday season! 💕
Nancy! Thank you for your good fashion advice! I’m here for all of it!
Totally agree with you. I will go for quality basics and lounge wear.
Classic basics, love this, absolutely the thing I want to have! Thanks!
Thanks so much, Martha! 😍
Thank you!
You're so welcome, Laura! 💕

Sounds like you're on trend, Pamela! 💕

I do not understand crop pants for winter. My legs would freeze!
I agree, but I see it a lot, with young Moms on the weekend, here on Cape Cod.
Luv the headband...how many coats is to many coats...seriously 😳
Thanks so much, Christine! Agree; I love coats! 💕

My husband will not wear anything with a logo on it. He said I am not a walking free advertisement for somebody.
what do you think? Do you wear them? (I don't)

I'm feeling very distracted by the black thingie on your head. Is it a hat, an Alice band or something else?
An adorable headband
Not a fan of the headband, it is distracting.

I've never liked headbands but the knot is very distracting. I love Nancy but the whole time I kept thinking unicorn.

Actually, I think she looks great in that hairband. Each to her own.
Dude, no to florals
