Worst job in the world. I still have nightmares from driving for metro. Don't judge Her until you have sat in that drivers seat. It gets to everyone sooner or later.
+DeityFree Dee Drivers do it all the time. All transit systems stress to their drivers to avoid fare related conflicts. But at the end of the day it is up to the operator whether they do or don't.
people think bus driver got to risk their job & give you a courtesy ride. You can ask & some may some may not. They could have supervisors posing as riders to see if drivers do that & who's going to stand up for the driver & pay their salary if they loose their job over it.
I was a bus driver for pierce transit and sound transit and yes there is absolutely no fare disputes but if the same person does it all the time then it gets reported and they can get fined
I take the bus all the time and in this line of work to be a driver you have to be tough and have the B and V to handle the job and don't let anyone mess with you! 1 of my favorite bus drivers from Suffolk County Transit on Long Island where I'm from is a short Ecuadorian girl and she don't take shit from no one. Hell she doesn't even let you come on bus with a drink or food and if you are short on the fare she wont let you ride. A couple of times she called the cops and cops came because she had issue with passengers
Unless you are or were a bus operator you cant bitch about the driver!!! You have no idea what bus drivers have to deal with!!! Their patience and courtesy get tested beyond the limit!!!
I never knew there was a NO PAYMENT FARE button on those things. If that's the case why don't we all cry I HAVE NO MONEY when boarding bus so we get a free ride.
I've been on the 48 from East Aloha and 23rd Ave East to 23rd and South Jackson St. during that short ride 3 people got on for a free ride because they didn't have any or enough money. I've also seen a driver on the 12 to downtown start conflict because rider was short 10 cents! I sort of felt my safety was in danger. The bus is dangerous enough without the people who want a free ride. The driver is caught in a horrible situation. This is why I walk most everywhere.
The dude should not even have considered going on the bus knowing he does not have the money instead he should start walking or use a bicycle or some other form of transportation
Driver is right about what she said but she shouldn't have got into it like that. She should write him up. If people do this enough they will put undercover police on board and they will gw
Kudos to this driver. You get tired of dealing with this crap everyday. I drove buses for 10 yrs as well. I also ride em on a daily basis. Yes I know the fares are high but I pay em. I'm not rich and I still pay to ride the bus. Not to mention you have people like this idiot not only wanting to get a free ride but also wanting to call you in for every little thing. I hope this guys ride cost him a few hundred dollars and a misdemeanor.
@madmax1982ab I don't work there, I know people who do, they can deal with it, it's not wrong to get mad because someone treats you like crap when all your supposed to do is drive them around. Think about if you were a driver driving people around all day and they did was disrespect you. Trust me it wouldn't be a fun time. Just think about it please because then you would understand.
I agree with you partially. Inform not enforce is their because drivers have been seriously injured and sometimes killed over a transfer or being 50 cents short. However I think this lady in the face of massive service cuts (which hey if your mid to lower seniority possibly means a layoff for you) just lost it. This guy even has nerve to say it is his right to a courtesy ride.
Funny you say that. I didn't lose my job, I moved away. Talented and yes present too passengers but ya can only be friendly so much. Seattle rides THINK you driving them from here to there like you owe them something. That's the problem. Disrespectful. See I would remove him as soon as he opened his mouth. I control that bus, not him. Disrespect will get you walking in the rain. Common curtsey will get you further.
I had an issue months ago with paying fare. I used my MetroCard on my first bus to mall and paid the $2.50 then got on my 2nd bus which was a different route altogether to go someplace else later on and the fare box didn't accept my MetroCard and gave me the READ ERROR sign where it should have said XFER OK. So the driver gives me an attitude saying "You know you're getting a free ride right!" I wanted to yell at him and tell him I was transferring from another route but I didn't because I knew it would have been a waste of time... I must admit some bus drivers (mostly the men) think they are hot shit and all that and that they are always right WHICH MOST DEFINITELY IS NOT the case!!
@madmax1982ab Yes this specific driver is stupid. I just thought you were calling ALL drivers stupid. I'm so tired of the public that cause trouble, with all sorts of jobs including yours.
you filming this driver and have the nerve to say ITS PITIFUL when she calls in the guy not paying the fare doesn't help the situation! why the hell were you taping her anyways if you weren't friends with her??? YOU COULD GET IN TROUBLE for making a recording of the bus too you know! I never knew that for my buses out here but yeah you arent supposed to be make recording of the bus

People need to pay the fucking fare!! Don't have it? WALK!!!!!!!!!
So dude doesn't have 2 bucks for the bus but he's got fancy shades and headphones? Uhuh...
I couldn't imagine how stressful that job must be; those buses are like a prison psycho ward on wheels sometimes.
PAY THE FARE!!
People need to pay the fuckin' fare, bottom line. They can't go to Wendy's and ask for a 59-cent burger, knowing full-well it's 99 cents, do they?
Worst job in the world. I still have nightmares from driving for metro. Don't judge Her until you have sat in that drivers seat. It gets to everyone sooner or later.
Dan D. Dirges What was your worst experience?
Old video. Drivers wouldn't do this anymore. Metro drums into new driver's heads-- never EVER get into fare disputes. EVER.
+DeityFree Dee Drivers do it all the time. All transit systems stress to their drivers to avoid fare related conflicts. But at the end of the day it is up to the operator whether they do or don't.

In Toronto area we have ads that make it clear. FARE IS FAIR!
I was a bus driver for pierce transit and sound transit and yes there is absolutely no fare disputes but if the same person does it all the time then it gets reported and they can get fined

If you can’t afford the bus that’s your problem

Sorry my friend, there is one saying "no free rides." Even in Spokane WA
I'm a driver in Norway. The bus is not moveing, before the police come, and then they get a ticket / fine aswell.

This happens all the time on the #2 and #12 buses!
This guy should have just sat down and been quiet.
At least Your "customers" are locked up.
lol i just noticed a telephone to call in to dispatch!?? UMM whatever happened to the good old small CB RADIO??
It's not a telephone. It's just the radio reciever.
a weird looking one then lol
I Dont Blam Her
Sadly today she'd probably get written up or fired for trying to enforce fares.
Is this a d60hf are Orion
Neither, it’s a Gillig Phantom, more specifically a Trolley bus variant.
Everything she said is true. Pay your fare or walk. It's not fare to the people that actually follow the rules of society. What a deadbeat.

What a shit job. It shouldn't have to be like this. I feel sorry for these people.

This lady needs to get fired asap she a complete problem with working with lower income individuals
Pay the fare or walk! Your choose!
Get charged for stealing from the county.
@madmax1982ab I have to say that is their job.
Funny you say that. I didn't lose my job, I moved away. Talented and yes present too passengers but ya can only be friendly so much. @kerrysummers ya she needs to talk more politely

Mike C In my city I have the opposite experience it’s the men who are cool but the woman drivers are the worst
@madmax1982ab Yes this specific driver is stupid. I just thought you were calling ALL drivers stupid. I'm so tired of the public that cause trouble, with all sorts of jobs including yours.
Sell you dam headphones

You can film buses
yeah I know you can but for the company where I am they frown on it
It's not her job to harass customers and argue about the fare. She's a bus driver not a fare enforcement officer.
Agreed.
+rackley98052 support the service, pay ur fare....Nothing's free...Can't/won't support the service, don't use the service...
