I got to meet him about a year before he passed. I had never really listened to them before, and they happened to be opening for Trivium at The Norva in Norfolk, VA. They blew me away, and he was hanging out by the merch and I told him how sick his band was and then we nerded about guitar for a few mins. I ended up getting a picture with him. After that I really started digging into their music and became absolutely obsessed. Then the unthinkable happened. Rest in piece, you genius.

I went to the show in Mapelwood during the tornado man, and that was SICK!!!!! plus I like how no one stayed for fear factory! more than half of the people left after you guys absolutely destroyed the fuckin place!!!!! so I'm pumped and keep it up!!!!

actually they are. they are on the song "your troubles will cease and fortune will smile upon you" they begin at about 3:28 into the song but are well into the background. you can blame whoever mixed it for being so quiet :(

Ha, I just saw them at the Fear Factory Tour a couple days ago. These guys are fucking sick live. and Justin gave my friend his pick, which was pretty cool. Watching Justin play the intro to Berserker behind his head was epic. After the Burial fucking rocks
@Grotesque889 If you watch the other preproductions, it looks like Justin writes the drum parts. Dan IS the drummer, Justin (the guy with the Green guitar) is the guy who programs them. Then Dan memorizes them. It's like Meshuggah's writing process. (Dan went to school with my brother, I look up to him haha)

@NerosR3solution some guitars have tones that will ring out if you don't do that. My friend owns an ibanez RG2228 and if you don't put like a scrunchie or something on the headstock the strings will "ring" after playing notes and you can't mute it on the fretboard.

@PainfulExodus F standard (or half step down) on 8 strings, so F A# D# G# C# F# A# D#. When they use a drop tuning it's drop Eb or just F standard with the lowest string tuned down a whole step.

The ringing he is talking about can happen behind the nut (or bridge with a TOM). For that you do need something to mute the strings behind the nut.

@toothpickrecords its just an ibanez rga8 with no paint. i think they still sell them but you have to buy them online. seen a few on ebay. never seen one being sold by musiciansfriend or guitar center.
It's in there you just have to listen. It's much more quiet than you'd think it's towards the end of the song. =D

@borko92 well they're on sumerian records so I'm assuming that when they say "our next video will be from the studio" that they've got a producer from sumerian recording them at the studio, though it would make more sense financially if they can take the advance money and not have to hire a producer.

I think they probably record everything besides the guitar tracks, then mix/master everything professionally. They might re-amp the guitar tracks during production, too. (This is all speculation of course, but this makes the most sense to me.)

@wicked23s when they played with their 7 strings they were only a half step down. so the tuning from low to high was:
Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb
And the same goes with the 8 strings. now they are:
F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb
im trying not to get to excited for the album this early on, but its really hard not to with stuff like that!!!!!!!!!

This is the only band I check TH-cam religiously for any new music released. The last show they played at croc rock in alentown, i was hammered and DEF screamed in justins face when he was walking outside on his cell phone, im a dick head.

I don't even know why they bother going into production, this demo stuff they're doing sounds better than what most other bands put out (production wise), do they have to record the guitar parts over again in the studio or just get the bass, drums and vocals?

@Pallietime Misha uses a VHT 2502 power amp with his I can't remember if it's Alex or Jake that was actually using the Atomic poweramp when I saw them at Thrash and Burn Misha said the ONLY reason he doesn't have an Atomic is because it's not made rackmountable yet
