13:04 Saw Gerrera was originally created for Clone Wars. Gerrera is the first character, only regarding canon material, who made the jump from the animated shows to live action content with Rogue One.
You’ll probably have the last episodes in the can by the time you read this comment, but the whole deal with Mon Mothma’s money situation is that she withdrew hundreds of thousands of credits to fund the rebels, she has no way of explaining where that money went, and her whole bank has been infiltrated by the ISB so it’ll be really hard to move money around to plug that hole and if they start looking into her more closely they’ll see what she’s doing. She’s hired Tay Colma because she can trust him and he’s a well connected person that can help solve her money problem.
Empire is the banks as they ousted the Banking Clan that controlled them originally during the Clone Wars. So in reality Empire controls most money exchanges and transactions themselves so any abnormal behavior from a senators account would be flagged and either used to influence the senator with the information or they would be arrested and the information would be used as evidence against them.
The best arc and Andy Serkis absolutely steals every scene he is in for these. Just incredible acting and some of the best Serkis has ever done. Now please upload the rest of the season faster because I’m selfish and impatient and can’t wait to see the rest of the season reactions.
A couple of episodes ago Luthen's assistant went for a long walk on Coruscant to meet Vel, who ran the Aldhani heist, and told her that Cassian is a loose end that Vel needs to take care of - that seems rather clear to me. Mon Mothma talks about the charity she is putting together whenever her husband is around, but she told her friend last episode that her husband cannot be trusted, so it seems highly likely that the charity is intended to provide cover for what she's really been doing - funding Luthen and his rebels.
*Mon Mothma's situation* is oddly something a lot of Reactors and commenters get wrong. Mon Mothma is funding the her side of the Rebel, and she has been spending a lot of money, *Traceable money.* Up until this point, it isn't a big deal, but she is increasingly being watch by the ISA. She ask her friend because he is in finance to help her 'clean up' her accounting. For some reason a lot of commenters and reactors thinks she is running out of money, she isn't. Also Andor is by no means a 'slow burn', I have seen great series that are way slower burn then this. Whoever thinks it's slow burn haven't really watch slow series before.
The Mon Mothma stuff really benefits from a rewatch. Viewers have to read beyond what she's saying and doing to get an idea of what's going on and I think most people aren't expecting to have to pay that close attention to a Star Wars show. I really enjoyed the (near) final scene of her's, talking to her husband in the car to put some misdirection into the ear of her driver.
Happy to see you guys digging it. Salman Pak isn't a father figure to Bix. He's just a fellow smuggler. Cinta and Vel are looking for Andor because he is a loose end that knows Luthen directly. Mon's storyline is very much a slow burn as she's trying to get out a discrepency in her bank accounts since she's been secretly funneling money to Luthen and the Rebel movement. Nice that you're picking up on all the personal stuff there.
The best word to describe this series is “intrigue”. Even when there’s little action, the dialogue and story just keep building interest in what’s. Going on and there’s so many moving parts of the plot that intertwine and twist together. None of the characters are stereotypical, none of their actions are black and white, the “good” guys do questionable things and the “bad” guys have a lot of admirable qualities. Just so masterfully done.
10:12 Yeah, Mon Mothma was actually the youngest one to become a Senator until Leia has become one at the age of 14 or 15 (not entirely sure if the new Canon included that 1:1 from Legends)
The way this prison is designed is so effective its scary. Setting up a production chain and forcing to worker to compete with eachother is brilliant in a horrible Empire kind of way. Completely removing the presence of guards also mean no small altercations or tension between them and inmates, it is solely focused on production and with just the small incentive of flavor in your food if you produce the most, it will be enough to make inmates work very hard for even such a tiny reward. I love all the thought and planning by the writers that went in to just designing this prison. This would not be effective or work everywhere, but when the Empire wanna produce something very specific and very fast i could see them implementing these types of prisons.
Melshi seen here in Nakina 5, was the one that led the Rescue Team extracting Jyn Erso in Rogue One however he was kicked in the nuts by her during the opening scenes lol
I really hated Mon Mothma's daughter, the actress made a great job making her an annoying teenager. She plays an interesting and important role in the end and I'm waiting to see your reaction. The prison arc has one of the coolest three episodes of the season, and the finale of this arc is peak storytelling.
LoL the old guy in the prison factory played a character called ‘Moxy’ in the 80’s tv show ‘Auf Wiedersehen Pet’ here in the UK, about a gang of British bricklayers who go to work on building sites in Germany. Ah, tv was different back then! A major, hugely popular show though, ran for years. Nice to see him still getting work!
I loved the parallel in the last scene of the previous episode, where they cut from Cassian being sent to prison straight to Syril at his soul-crushing desk job, both characters being confined to a dehumanising imprisonment
Christopher Fairbank who plays Ulaf (the older prisoner) was the Broker in Guardians of the Galaxy, a criminal in Batman 1989 but was famous in the UK in the eighties for playing Moxey in Auf Wiedersehen Pet.
Idk how far ahead you have seen by now, but you find out what Cassian is building at the end of the season, the prison is probably my favorite of the arcs, but the last is what moves the story along and is great. As far as mon mothma goes, im looking forward to next season when hopefully we see in real life version of what happened in rebels when she boards the ghost and officially declares the rebellion from her perspective, that would be a major highlight for season 2
They've finished the show by now. They filmed a ton of stuff ahead of time to give them time off for the expecting baby so we won't really notice until a video saying otherwise/Jen isn't pregnant anymore lol.
@7:07 it’s still hard to believe that Andy Serkis had a second Star Wars role. I don’t hate episodes 7, 8, and 9, but I do feel he got to flesh out Kino Loy better than Snoke.
Snoke only really existed to be diet Palpatine, a vague shadowy overlord responsible for turning Kylo Ren to the dark side. Andy Serkis played the part very well in both his appearances, but it's not a particularly interesting or compelling character, so I'm glad he got another go around with a more layered role
Andor is definitely in my opinion what Star Wars can be if it didn’t try and bank on the nostalgia of the old movies. Not to say that’s bad at all. I’m just more of a fan of new stories within the universe being told very well. That’s why I’m a fan of The Mandalorian when it’s done well. What I love about Andor is even if you took away the Star Wars components of the story it still can be an incredibly well done story. Definitely cannot wait until the next season and I hope an experiment like Andor can push the franchise into more new and nuanced stories like this. Great reaction as always guys. Hope you both received the copies of my novel I sent! 💪😎
It's like someone said "you know what would be fun? Let's make a Star Wars show with award winning actors. Some people will bitch that it doesn't feel like Star Wars but fans with taste will be in heaven"
Holden and Jen what they are making in the Prison will all become very clear at the after credit scene of the very last Episode of Andor...it's not a spoiler just a bit of insight to remember that there is a after credit scene of the very last episode of the series
So glad to see the both of you enjoying this series. I think it's one of the best Star Wars products put out on Disney+. I almost cannot wait the year+ it's going to take before Season 2 comes out!
I know you rewarched Revenge of the sith once. You mentioned it in a clone wars video. But if Jen haven't seen any Star Wars since she first watched I wanna recommend her to do a rewatch. Episode 1-6 and Rogue One perhaps?
Nice reaction as always. You both seem to have a great grasp now of how this show works and what seems to be coming. You sound on the money to me, and yes, it keeps getting better and ends well for season one. Hoping they get to make season two. Sounds like they are in production right now on it, but with the writers strike starting on May 1st, Tony Gilroy and all the writers had to step out and there are no writers there. I just hope they already had their episodes lined up really well with not a lot of need for rewrites or dialogue smoothing. Who knows?
You've seen Rogue One. You might recognize Andor's fellow prisoner Melshi as one of the rebels in the Scarif ground assault. Don't ignore the characters they show repeatedly, even if they don't have significant speaking roles. At this point, Mon Mothma doesn't have her own larger plan. She's just trying to keep funneling money to Luthern. Luthern has the plan, and his plan is beginning to concern her.
You recognize Cassian's mother as Petunia but I didn't hear you mention Syril's mother, she's the actor who played Harry's neighbor in Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix, the one Dumbledor asked to keep an eye on him and found him after the Dementor attack.
What they're doing in the prison will make sense when you see the post credits scene after the final episode, but I'm guessing you've already seen it by now.
These two are so unbelievably obsessed with the names. “Why don’t they ever have normal names?” Like at least twice an episode. It’s like they have yet to learn other cultures exist lol
Jen has seen all star wars films, most if not all clone wars series, every live action series and NOW asks why the people never have regular names. lol that's pretty deep in to ask that question.
Mon mathma is literally.... funding the rebellion with her money. The heist they did, Luthens cut of that job will go to the rebellion. Seems she wants to play it slow and safe when luthen knows the rebellion needs to show its hand now which is why he pulled the heist without telling mon Mothma. She was mad af. There are different cells (some more cult like with gorilla warfare tactics, do what's necessary, saw gerrera. Non Mothma the type to fund but play it gor the long run. Luthen is ready to strike, mon doesn't think she's prepared. There's Luke's rebel cells growing . This is showing that mon Mothma massively funded a huge portion of the rebellion for the first decade or 2. She framed her husband's gambling as the reason for millions missing. Hence her becoming the top tiers and then leader of the rebellion in basically 4-9. It's showing how she grew to her position in the rebellion when we see her in the og trilogy and sequels
3 new plot armored characters in this episode - Saw Gerrera, Two Tubes and a third character that you probably don't remember from Rogue One. Saving that reveal for later (someone will probably spoil it in the comments).,
Im surprised you guys aren't understanding the Mon Mothma story line. She's gathering money to help finance the Rebel Alliance, she's one of the leaders. In the original movies everytime the rebels are having a meeting, she's in the room. She getting help to hide the money she's giving to the Alliance....
Man, the day you guys will decide to react to Supernatural/Smallville, I’m gonna lose it. Yeah, I know they are longer shows but that will be really dope. More Content For You, More Reactions For Me. Anyways Great Reactions For This Ep As Well.
just commenting to suggest breaking up your reactions. i havent watched a video of yours in over 4 months, because i havent seen any of the starwars shows, or the terminator movies past #2. so, just doing a random movie inbetween months of 1 content, would be nice for subscribers like me, who dont wanna get spoilers, just incase i DO watch those shows. anyways, have a good one!
I’m worried about season 2 because Tony Gilroy has recently stopped work because of the writers strike and him being a member of WGA. I hope they don’t work on the project without him and the other writers because I little faith it will be as good.
@@infinitedonuts he already wrote the script. He was executive producing and that’s what he stopped doing. But the script is finished. Just read it again from multiple sources.
@@VonJay ya I know the script is finished but still not having him as well as other writers on set still might have a negative effect on season 2. A lot of times rewrites happen during production because they realize something doesn’t work well and could be better. I’m hoping it doesn’t lead to a worse show though.
@@infinitedonuts my friend, 3 things, the third being the most conciliatory: 1) of course he contributes while he’s there. But, according to Gilroy, when he wrote Andor he had the executives, the production designers, the dp all in the same room. It was an expanded writer’s room with everyone contributing. Of course he was the lead of them and the other writers there, as well, but most of the heads on set know even the little intricacies. 2) Disney said they’re continuing production, and of course they have deadlines to meet, but I think they did that a little too easily. Either they know the strike will be resolved rather quickly, or they’re speaking with Gilroy through a third party. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s talking to people on the phone every day. If not then: 3) when he rewrote rogue one they ordered a great deal of reshoots. Same can apply here. Also the last writer’s strike lasted 3 months. I doubt it lasts that long or up until 2024. Regardless, reshoots are a thing, especially if Gilroy is putting his name on the film.
There are two points about that: It's been hinted since A New Hope and said a bit more clearly in Legends that Palpatine is xenophobic, particularly against non-humanoid aliens. That's why the closer you are to Palpatine's sphere, the fewer aliens (particularly non-humanoid) you see. On Coruscant itself, you see more aliens the deeper down you go in the city. Second, most planets will naturally have one primary species, and we've seen that on planets with non-human species. We see a greater variety of aliens on planets that are crossroads of trade routes and at spaceports, not so much variety on planets of minor importance. That's not different from present day earth, where you'll see people from a variety of nations at a transportation hub in a major nation but not so much at minor towns or in minor nations.
It's the best Star Wars series in my opinion. It's a more complex series. With more mature dialogues and it doesn't bore me at all. Boring to see are the empty action scenes of most of the others series

Man..... So do I. And they keep asking what they are making....... Just wait..... Just wait to see what they are making. 🤫.
13:04 Saw Gerrera was originally created for Clone Wars.
Gerrera is the first character, only regarding canon material, who made the jump from the animated shows to live action content with Rogue One.
When Jen remembers every saw gerrera appearance, "You are strong and wise and I am very proud of you"
Melshi (one of the guys at Andors table) was Andors friend and rebel sergeant in R1, good thing that they showm how they met.

I am literally refreshing their page every day to look for a new Andor episode! They got us hooked with a few in a row early on haha
From this point on , every episode puts on an acting clinic and is character driven, battles and special effects are a bonus.

The Beginning of my favorite arc
Every episode of "Andor" gets better from here. You two are entering the best part of the series now. Hands down!
*Mon Mothma's situation* is oddly something a lot of Reactors and commenters get wrong. Nothing too complicated with Mon Mothma's motives, she's just trying to fund Luthens Rebellion without the Empire becoming suspicious
Oh what I would give for the next episodes to come out early
Did they ever figure out that Yularen is apart of that ISB board? Character in Clone Wars, and appears in the OGs as well
LoL the old guy in the prison factory played a character called ‘Moxy’ in the 80’s tv show ‘Auf Wiedersehen Pet’ here in the UK, about a gang of British bricklayers who go to work on building sites in Germany. Agreed Holden, agreed.
I loved the parallel in the last scene of the previous episode, where they cut from Cassian being sent to prison straight to Syril at his soul-crushing desk job, both characters being confined to a dehumanising imprisonment
Nakina 5 Prison was inspired by George Lucas THX-1138 movie :)

Oh the best is still yet to come!
This prison break arc is by far one of the top tier best stories in the Star Wars universe. One way out. One way out. One way out!
My favorite arc begins. Andy Serkis elevates a already great arc just by being here.
I wish you watched the arcs together. 8-10 is my favorite arc and episode 10 is probably my favorite SW content since The Empire Strikes Back.
Some seriously good dialog in that episode.
Love the shirt, Holden! ❤
My favourite episodes have begun!

This is what makes Rouge One so damn good. It felt fresh and original and told a story I always wanted to see.
So glad you're just chugging along on this!
Can't wait for the rest of this season is peak!
The gamification of slavery in this arc is what stuck with me most from this series.
It's like someone said "you know what would be fun? Let's make a Star Wars show with award winning actors. Some people will bitch that it doesn't feel like Star Wars but fans with taste will be in heaven"
This is such an epic arc! The payoff is amazing and Andy Serkis is the GOAT!
Holden and Jen what they are making in the Prison will all become very clear at the after credit scene of the very last Episode of Andor...it's not a spoiler just a bit of insight to remember that there is a after credit scene of the very last episode of the series
I’m so glad you guys are watching this the best of Star Wars Disney plus and right up there with the better of the sequel live action movies
I love Andor and I am glad they are watching it. I kind of want them to watch Visions. Those are pretty amazing short stories.
"He's such a good actor though". My god, he's about to witness Serkis' greatest acting performance and he has no idea!!!
if you listen to the opening sequence, new instruments are added each week.. almost like an alliance of uniquely empowered sounds

You've seen Rogue One. You might recognize Andor's fellow prisoner Melshi as one of the rebels in the Scarif ground assault.

At this point, Mon Mothma doesn't have her own larger plan. She's just trying to keep funneling money to Luthern. Luthern has the plan, and his plan is beginning to concern her.

It’s a good series. Keep going.

i havent watched a video of yours in over 4 months, because i havent seen any of the starwars shows, or the terminator movies past #2.
so, just doing a random movie inbetween months of 1 content, would be nice for subscribers like me, who dont wanna get spoilers, just incase i DO watch those shows.
anyways, have a good one!
Saw goes off on all the other rebels and their different views of the galaxy....but he never said what he thinks should be
I’m worried about season 2 because Tony Gilroy has recently stopped work because of the writers strike and him being a member of WGA. I hope they don’t work on the project without him and the other writers because I little faith it will be as good.
That’s not true. He finished the script already and they started filming. There’s even a leaked season two teaser trailer
@@VonJay he stopped super recently
@@infinitedonuts he already wrote the script. He was executive producing and that’s what he stopped doing. But the script is finished. Just read it again from multiple sources.
@@VonJay ya I know the script is finished but still not having him as well as other writers on set still might have a negative effect on season 2. A lot of times rewrites happen during production because they realize something doesn’t work well and could be better. I’m hoping it doesn’t lead to a worse show though.
@@infinitedonuts my friend, 3 things, the third being the most conciliatory:
1) of course he contributes while he’s there.
If not then:
3) when he rewrote rogue one they ordered a great deal of reshoots. Same can apply here. Also the last writer’s strike lasted 3 months. I doubt it lasts that long or up until 2024. Regardless, reshoots are a thing, especially if Gilroy is putting his name on the film.
( insert joker meme ) here we go
This very well could have ruined the show but it was my favorite arc because they did it so well. Andy Serkis is the GOAT 🤷🏻♂️
Speaking of dialogue, heavy shows that are engaging... watch Succesion! Pllllllllllls
It's a different flavor of Star Wars.
Hardly any aliens in Andor, I thought that was strange for a Star Wars show. Was a still a great show though.
Technically there are tons of aliens in the show as they are all from different planets. They just all happen to be human.
That's not different from present day earth, where you'll see people from a variety of nations at a transportation hub in a major nation but not so much at minor towns or in minor nations.
they still had those fisher guys after andor and melshi escape
Nice haircut Holden. Looking sexier than ever.
It's the best Star Wars series in my opinion. It's a more complex series. With more mature dialogues and it doesn't bore me at all. Boring to see are the empty action scenes of most of the others series
Why aren't they watching the mcu anymore?
