INGREDIENTS
1 cup long grain rice (uncooked)
16 oz chicken broth
1 small onion
1 to 2 cloves garlic
2 tbls oil
10.5 oz can condensed cream of chicken (or cream of mushroom)
4 oz or 1/2 cup milk
4 tbsp butter (melted)
8 oz block of sharp cheddar cheese
16 oz frozen chopped broccoli (thawed)
pepper to taste
**BAKE @ 350 degrees F for 35 to 40 minutes covered
**uncover and continue to bake for 10 to 15 minutes
**be sure to completely thaw frozen broccoli for a more even bake

My cousin died last year a few days before thanksgiving, and my aunt has always make this dish. She is not ready to return to family festivities as it reminds her to much of her loss. I find that toasting the rice first give it a bolder more earthy flavor. It really brings out the flavor

I love this video. I used homemade broccoli cheddar soup but it came out wonderfully. I've made it in the past but it always came out mushy. I love the simple trick of toasting the rice first and then cooking it. It really does come out wonderfully and not mushy
I always use boiled white rice and Velveta cheese in my R&B casserole. Thanks for your recipe. I think this year I will try browning my rice and using chicken broth instead of plain white rice and use cheddar cheese. Sounds so much better than using the processed cheese. I do always use the Campbell’s cream of chicken mushroom soup. Tastes better than the individual cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soup. Love all your recipes.

Great vegetarian meal minus cream of chicken, will use mushroom and add mushrooms or one other veg creamed soup and maybe add some type of bean. Sometimes it's a challenge feeding a vegetarian. Going to try this, thank you.
I add a jar of pimientos to my Tuna Casserole and that is what makes it the best Tuna Casserole EVER....it's the secret ingredient.

I made your Cheesy broccoli rice casserole last night, boy was it delicious! I used a bag of fresh broccoli and microwaved it for 2 minutes and I used cream-o-mushroom soup because it was what I had on hand! It was great! Thanks for sharing! It’s a keeper! The last 10 minutes of baking...sprinkle on top of the casserole.. a can of fried onion rings..(they are in a can..)...or Italian Bread crumbs...this will really make it pop and this recipe is wonderful for a church dinner...but plan on making 2 pan fulls!! Looks delicious!

Yes. Some are too long winded. They want to talk about the history of the dish for 15 mins. I fast forward it or I just don't watch them anymore. I want straight to the point,maybe a few tips. That's it.
I've made this 8 times but I always watch this video when I make it. Even rewinding and fast forwarding making sure I got the steps right lol.. I'm weird like that but thank you for making this.

I love casseroles, but I can never get past the cream of goop soup. Instead, I sauté chopped mushrooms in butter and once they’ve cooked really well I add one cup of heavy whipping cream. I use a mix of Smoked gruyere and Gouda cheeses in mine too. Thank you for not having music, too. 😊
That's how I do my green bean casserole as well since I don't use canned cream soups.
I'm going to try your method; it's sounds delicious. I've used a homemade "cream of anything" mix, in which I control the salt content (if any), and it works out nicely.
I love this recipe. I can do this. Previously frozen broccoli pieces in a box at grocery freezer.....are terrific to me in a casserole. So I like the blending of that....recipe....as you show. I keep small boxes of frozen broccoli pieces....in my big freezer chest for such occasions.
I sometimes thaw the broccoli.....and then gently toss into my already cooked warm white rice. That adds flavor, color and fiber to the rice.....for everyone eating it!!! That goes over well.....at my house.

I always put a little butter in a skillet and add italian bread crumbs or regular bread crumbs and toast a little and add that as a topping and bake. Delicious

This is one of my favorite comfort food recipes. I like to add chicken Breast chunks and it goes from side dish to main dish. Luv it!
So I made this recipe & it was/is so delicious & a great way to use up lots of Broccoli when it's in season. But, oops, I forgot to add in the milk which didn't seem to make a difference overall. Coincidentally, I had grated Monterey jack/cheddar/mozzarella Haberno flavored cheese in my fridge & used that. It was a whopping success. The Haberno kicked it up a notch & gave the dish a necessary flavour boost. I couldn't stop eating this & the same with my family. They loved, loved it.

For a little crunch/texture, I add diced water chestnuts. Other than that, this is pretty similar to the way we make ours. It's definitely on the requested list of side dishes every Thanksgiving.
I usually make all the food for the holidays. My daughters are old enough to do potluck style dinner. I’m going to use this recipe this year thank you.
This is a standard dish for any Pot Lucks I'm invited to attend and it goes right away. It's got locks of flavor and it's so easy to make. The only item I have to go out of my way to buy is the broccoli and sometimes the chicken stock. Use turkey stock too and it's even more fabulous. Great for Thanksgiving.

Well, I made your recipe and it went over so well, my only mistake was I only had on hand cream of celery instead of cream of chicken, I've found the celery clashed with the Broccoli a bit but it was a success...thank you for this lovely recipe it was good😋

I use Pet Milk & 1tsp onion powder. The Pet Milk makes for a creamy casserole. Oh and I use broccoli flowerettes. The rest of the recipe is pretty much like mine. Love it!!!

I would use the milk and possibly even some of the broccoli to get all of the soup out of the can and don't forget to rinse the can well before putting it in the recycling container! For a great one-dish meal, add some cooked chicken! Left-over roast chicken from the supermarket would super-duper in that, or diced and well-browned thighs and/or breasts would also be amazing (the caramelization of the chicken adds a truly home-style flavor. I just use adobo seasoning (granulated garlic, salt, oregano, black pepper and a little tumeric if you wish to make your own).

I think it all works.😊I sometimes use Minute rice, usually depends how much I have to cook. This year I am cooking for a large crowd so I might opt to use the Minute rice.
