That was a match worth the watch, and yes, Horan is the enforcer, and knows when a professional foul is necessary AFTER ICELAND chose to use the NFL back tackle not once, not twice, but 10 times in the first half. Horan was putting them all on blast, quit the tackling from behind with that subtle pinky strength push to toss that Icelander on the pitch. If she uses full strength, not one Icelander would survive Horan's tackle.
Lindsey is the enforcer and keep pissing her off so she scores goals. Williams is rarely noted for all her goals…. She is amazing. I like that Emma is playing everyone. Trust her!
Mal had been fouled over and over again, many that were not called and or no yellow cards, Lindsay said a few things to the ref, she finally took care of herself, and i am glad she did. The ref did NOT keep control of the game! GO LINDSEY! Shout out to Sams, she rocks and should start against England!!
Hello Sarah and Sara. US team seems to be progressing well, except for Murphy's flaw. I reckon it is Murphy's law that a GK has to have a slip up, but better in a friendly you come back and win. Did you spot a certain Megan on the Sam Mewis reaction, as well as Becky?
Emma Hayes is trying to experiment with the team. One shouldn't forget that Emma started actually working with the USWNT shortly before the Olympic Games. This is now the opportunity to try out new players and find the correct balance between younger and new players as well as veterans who are able to push and motivate the younger players. Football and Handball are the top Icelandic sports and it really is amazing how many extremely talented players come from this small Island, play in top leagues around Europe, and make it very uncomfortable for other teams to beat them. Austria had to made this experience in the Euro 2025 qualifiers when Iceland hindered Austria from directly qualifying. Love it that it was exactly the mix between veterans like Lynn Williams, Lindsay Horan, and Emma Sears turned the match for the USWNT.
Lindsey is a playmaker, great captain, penalty guru & the much needed enforcer. She's also the enforcer for Lyon. Now talking about the Iceland goal Murphy had to protect the near post so didn't have time to track back to get up in the air to push that ball away. Elisa is my no1 but don't think she could save that high curling corner. I guess we'll never no. Thanks for your great stories, always interesting & well thought out✌️
Imagine if the ref carded one of the opponents for Persistent Infringement for all those pushes in the back. That situation is exactly why it's in the LOTG. But unfortunately FIFA/CONCACAF refuse to apply it. For reasons. Or something.
I wasn't worried in the slightest. The ebb & flow of coaching is a long game, & this was a friendly & we are a ways away from the World Cup. Emma has to try new players & filter them in, get them international minutes & caps. Work that yout in! The time for that is now! Look at the criticisms the Lionesses are getting for not doing this. Timing of this filtering of players is a strategic sensitive balance, it's EVERYTHING. The vets came in hard the 2nd half. The first half was the experiment, the second half ok, that was fun ✅but let's get down to business now. Also, I used to be on the meh fence regarding Lindsay Horan, but last night, definitively when she came on, the vibe changed, she commands that midfield with her strength. Sure she ain;t as effective as she once was, but we need her veteran leadership & her strength. Her comments in the past regarding American fans not being as savvy as other countries didn't bother me in the least. I am team Horan.
Horan was responding to repeated dirty play by Iceland, particularly their #16. They kept fouling late and from behind. If the referee had control of the game, this would not have happened. No captain worth their salt is going to allow teammates to be physically abused again and again.
I would sum up the match like this: Emma let the kiddos play around for a little bit. Then after about 55 minutes and they can't manage to slot in a goal, she summoned up her Xena warrior princesses and with the full might of the uswnt attacking department, they swarmed Iceland like a cicada invasion. With the powerful glow glowing presence of the Lynn William leg 🦵 sleeve lighting the path towards goal, USA went to a triple Emily backline which gradually diminished to a solo Sonnett backline around 67th minute. Hovering above everyone during her goal celebration, the team's GIANT, Emma Sears, is embraced by all the players as the game is sealed with a USA 3rd goal. The final whistle sounded and as they shake hands Sophia Smith asks Jane Jonsdottir "so what's it like being the only black person in Iceland?" 😂
Jonsdottir and Dutch player Wilms are roommates at Wolfsburg. There's footage on the Wolfsburg vlog of them walking to the field holding hands and then Wilms kissing Jonsdottir s hand and being shocked that the camera caught them
Lyndsey is becoming known for retaliating even if she hasn't been provoked. She was Red Carded not long ago, for this very reason. This was just Yellow.
Elbowing an opponent in the head is not something to celebrate. "lindsey is so brat for elbowing that player in the head!". lol. no. Horan is the last player who should be wearing the armband acting like that. if there was VAR, the ref could very well have been asked to take a second look and shes gone for idiotic, useless violent conduct. get a grip.
I loved that moment! The Iceland player needed a gentle reminder that they need to correct their tackling technique!

Horan should have started with the Newbies, Sanchez should have come on with the Speed Demons in the 2nd half.

Sears assisted on the Lynn Willams GOAL !! BTW
Lindsey is a great Captain for this team.
Was. Horan's now a supersub. You can't put her anywhere for 60 minutes anymore.
@@r2dad282 Dumb.

by the logic of population, why isn't Russia, China or India any good at women's soccer?
So it takes 350 mil of people just to make the US look 'good'?! 😂
so what are China, India and Russia's excuses? #sitdown
