    My father was in armed forces and both self and brother were trained to join the forces. We prepared hard for entrance exams of army school those days. I saw culture in Indian Army changing on our dining table. Later on the conversation changed from joining army to other careers. I agree on the culture perspective quoted here. There are no bad soldiers, only bad generals.

    I was reminded of this incident when witnessing the gross violation of MCC by Modi. If Seshan had been the EC, Modi would have been banned from elections for 6 years.

      We are lucky to be in the era of Modi. For the first time we have a strong leader. And I don't know what MCC did he violate? U seem to not like the current dispensation which is doing good for the country. Maybe Rahul Gandhi or kejriwal would have been to your liking.🤷

      @@raysurya2022, That clearly doesn't mean that he supports Kejriwal or Rahul Gandhi. India has so many people and yet so few leaders... 1.Can you explain how Modi has made India strong? 2. Why isn't this strong chap visiting Manipur? 3. What about people in Ladakh and their grazing lands seized by China while our PM shamelessly claims there is no encroachment validating the Chinese Territorial claims? 4. If you don't think Modi has violated MCC then don't you think you should read the newspaper, touch some grass?

    I know of a Colonel who took action against a Brigadier for mistreating a soldier under his command. The soldier was in tears and his CO, rightly so, was enraged at the sight of it. Needless to say, the Brig almost begged the Colonel to not report the incident but he didn’t budge. Great man. May his tribe increase..

    Pretty interesting story. Reminds me of similar incident at Chief Engineer Bhopal Zone at my father's office back in 2013. I am not sure what happened there but was a quarrel between a young Major and experienced Commanding Officer regarding some document signature and the CO actually apologized to that young fellow infront of his office staff. I dont know how common is it now but surely it impacted my young mind when I heard it from my father.

    Army had a very good culture ,British Indian Army and its culture is being eroded in the name of indigenization. Now we see there is political ambitions nurtured by officers that they lick the boot of politicians . and their subordinates see this and they too behave like that.

    Glad I saw this video as I had personal experience of many such incidences of moral uprightness during my 39 year career in the Army & Armoured Corps. Two such instances involved my father, then a Major & Lt Col, where he pulled up the Brigade Cdr for conduct unbecoming his rank. This spinelessness started sometime in the 80s - this Col is right, it is all top down. Other factors are quality of intake of officers from prevailing societal pool - very poor; reward & performance linkage, and play it safe attitude😮

If that commander used derogatory remarks commanding officer should have expressed his grievences on same platform and i m sure senior command would have intervened and matter sorted out by taking both iron hand...

    Col Nehru, I presume you are talking to young aspirants. What are you trying to do ? Showing the forces in poor light? The way you speak, it's apparent you have a grudge against senior officers and taking pangas is the norm in the fauj. Don't quote isolated incidents and show the forces in poor light to suit your narrative. Gentlemen and ladies who are listening to this video, please be under the wrong impression. The man is disgruntled and if you are following his chain of thought, be assured you are not going to make it.

    Veterans should think before posting all and sundry messages on social media and videos about 'in my time' and 'Army has changed now' and reflect are they really helping in Any way? Do we see any other organisation's veterans denigrating itself like this? Today's soldiers are as committed to the Army's ideals as you were. If you have a slight sense of responsibility kindly delete this video. Utterly irresponsible.

    Legally it is not correct because the CO is not qualified to diagnose a psychological disorder.
    It just seems the CO was a insecure emotionally triggered dude himself and couldn't swallow a little over the top abrasive criticism.
    For all their bravery, guts, heroism and unparalleled courage but one fact is true for Para/ Para SF is that they are big time prima Donna's with "Special" egos just like US Navy Seals.
    Harsh but true.

    • @SirNehru
      @SirNehru  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The action was absolutely legal. You cannot have expert psychologists available to attend 'Sainik Sammelans'. May I know your credentials which make you comment with such authority.

    • @vivek27789
      @vivek27789 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SirNehru With all due respect Colonel... If it was such a proper and legal action and not an emotionally triggered arbitrary decision then why didn't the Divisional Headquarters back the action taken by the Battalion CO instead of forcing him to back down before it became an out of control situation.
      If honestly we go by this Para Battalion CO's way then quite a significant percentage of formation commanders of Indian Army should have been put under quarter guard for unnecessarily harsh and arrogant dressing downs given to units during Sainik Sammelans.
      And also you would have had no qualms in openly taking the CO's name if his actions were in total right and not overstepping the boundaries of his given authority.

    • @SirNehru
      @SirNehru  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@vivek27789 Good comments. I will explain this situation to you with another example. When I commanded my unit, I had a Maj who had good connections with higher ups. His discipline was less than exemplary. Once he was missing from PT parade. I began legal proceedings against him in accordance with DSR. I informed the Brigade Commander about it. He was not much in favor of this action. Within 15 min, I got a call from the GOC (Maj Gen) pleading me not to do so. Conventions get rated above legally correct stuff. I hope you get the point.
