Awesome video. You should keep this type of video, in my opinion. First, you ride and then narrate what happened, highlighting the key moments. Excellent video, congrats!
@@Rasmus_Allesøe I will vote for this as well. I have said it on other vids and just said it on the latest vid...love this format and get a tonne out of it.
Wow, what an incredible achievement! Those climbs looked absolutely brutal, and the way you pushed through shows so much strength and determination. The video is fantastic too - it captures your effort so well. Huge respect for everything you accomplished here!
Hey Adam, great video and race! I did this one yesterday (Saturday 11th) at 13:30 CET in 1 category lower than yours and I was lucky enough that there was a total of 61 active riders. So I was able to try to attach to some of my opponent's wheels. And even though the "dynamics" in that small bunch was kind of strange (most of them constantly attacked to get a gap to the riders they are going with, instead of working together and making it easier (and faster) for everyone) that really helped me a lot to keep on pushing all the way up to the top of the Radio Tower. My Score before the Race was 414, which means I had no chance against the guys with 450 and above... At the end I finished around midpack and I was very happy with that because I haven't done such a long and demanding yet so far. Keep up the good work (here and on Zwift!). Cheers Steve Buccaci, maybe you wanna follow me back on Zwift?!
That was a tough one. I had got get up at 3:45am for it and that definitely didn't help my legs. I managed a mid pack finish and was fortunate to have a small group to work with for much of it. The pace on the first climb was hotter than I had hoped for and I was completely empty by the radio tower. Well done for sticking it out to the end and maintaining a steady pace! As the saying goes "To finish first. First you must finish" Good racing with you
""To finish first. First you must finish"" I actually love this so much (I did say something similar in the video but your wording is just perfect.) Would you mind if I used it in the new channel banner that I'm using? :)
Did this as a free ride as part of one of the challenges. Completely ran out of gears on the final climb and had to change trainer difficulty to get out of a complete standstill. As a lesson learned I know have configured my Kickr Bike with three chainrings in the front :D Great performance on the race! I love seeing someone keep going despite getting dropped.
Much respect! 1) I was going to try this one in the same category range but opted against it (did DBR Richmond Loop Around) because I saw my competition and saw how hard the course would be 😂. I kind of regret it though after watching others videos of it. I probably wouldn't have done well in terms of placing but it would have been a great challenge regardless. So, even more respect to you. 2) I say be conservative with the weight loss approach. It'll probably serve you best to do it progressively much like everything we do to gain fitness haha. At some point in your weight loss, you will lose raw watts and finding that weight where you optimize your weight and power output will be a cool journey for you. I'm actually not caring about weight at all in this season just to see where my body lands with its weight. I'm trying to focus on growing my raw watts because most of the outdoor racing I do is crits and circuit races that are not hilly. Keep at it! Enjoyed the video!
Yeah for sure I'm doing the weight loss carefully. I have an extra fat thought that I really can afford to lose. At the moment I don't worry too much about calorie counting but made a rule that I won't be eating any calories four hours before bedtime (which is when I usually eat/drink the most empty stuff).
With you all the way on this one. When I was doing 4.5wkg up the first climb and being dropped like a kid on a Raleigh Chopper, I knew I was in trouble.
Nice job, definitely a tough one. It's good to see longer, climbier courses as they will favour different profiles than the more common races. I don't think ZRS says that much about how well one does on this course - 5 min power is irrelevant and so are results on shorter, flatter ones.
Did this one today also, but 1 group lower. It was 50 of us , so it was more fun. Shame that people take Tour de Zwift as races and not as group rides and these other races dont get as much turnout. Congrats on your effort! I am dreading the moment I have to join your ZRS group. When do you decide which race you will partake on weekends?
When there are these high profile races like ZWS or Zwift Games, I usually schedule them well in advance and trying to do them the first day they are available, hoping for higher amount of people and I also want to release the video in time for people to recon the race. When it is a standard week, I decide based on what plans we have with my wife, how do I feel etc. :)
The best part of these races is that you can always turn the race into a training stimulus. If i get dropped, i just turn it into long tempo or vo2max intervals if there are hills
I had considered doing this one yesterday for a 20min power test, ended up doing Leith hill afterparty instead. This one looks like it would have been a really fun time though.
I like to 'peak' for these events. Planning my week before, carb loading, ... and going full gas. Sadly, my legs didn't feel that special and our group smashed the climb from the bottom so I was riding for 15th/30 after two minutes of climbing :D But the worst part was once again getting dropped downhill because the draft is way too low. I'm expected to do 3.5w/kg after the grade just to follow a heavier rider doing a supertuck. That's just bs. I had to dig deep to find the motivation to do the final climb on my own.
You are bossing it! Just one thing… don’t forget everyone has different roles in cycling at the top… don’t go killing yourselfs trying to lose weight 75kg is already light….. becoming sick and losing all your power just for 10kg and those hard days of not eating… it’s not worth it boss Been there done that never again
Hehe thank you! :) However, it would be healthy for me to lose 10 kg, not just for cycling purposes - and I believe I can lose quite a bit without actually losing muscles.
Too hard at the start and competitors not at your level will ruin your race. I recommend negative splits, where you have extra fresh legs to push towards the finish line.
I tend to make the sports drink very "light" so it's not that heavy, sticky liquid. That said, I usually have 1 bottle with sports drink and 1 bottle with the water. This was so hard though I didn't want to take any chances.
