I think it looks great. It shouldn't be turned off at all. Let it be part of the skyline. People complain about everything, nothing can be done in this city. I won't be surprised if they say it needs to be studied. Other major cities try to enhance their city with lights, people here complain about it, just cry babies.

Just came back from New Orleans, which has a murder rate higher than Brazil and I must say I am happy to be back in Toronto, where the biggest complaint in town is green lights on a building 🤣🤣

Walking on Lower Simcoe several weeks ago we had to keep a look-out for falling snow and ice due to the scalloped design of the building. It seems to accumulate snow and ice on the upper portions of the curves and eventually drops them on pedestrians walking below. There were numerous signs warning people about the falling ice and snow. In winter I would recommend walking on the west side of Lower Simcoe when near TD Terrace.

What an amazing addition to the skyline. Toronto is known for its modern architecture. So I find this to be an extra modern look. Many buildings and cities for that matter are doing this. It’s beautiful. And really makes the city look much nicer and more big league. They are bright but the light complaint is silly in a major city. Really, It’s where people go to see tall buildings, night lights, glitz and glamour. Fun and entertainment. Really updates the skyline. Torontos growing up. Literally as far as architecture goes. I can hardly wait for the NIMBYS to say negative about the currently under construction of Forma Condo with its aluminum like cladding that ripples and reflects light in every direction. Silver chrome cladding and shiny windows. And big blocks shifted.. and at 70 ish stories. And a second even taller not yet started. Both will be iconic for sure as this now is. But most enjoy city lights I’d think air not in there windows at night (though shades do wonders for that) and only feel lighting is a natural part of especially major ones but cities in general. Many many people locals or tourist’s enjoy such things so I wouldn’t worry about the negative. CN tower is worse and blinks if one thinks about it. Very distracting for drivers to no? And all have blinking safety lights at certain hieghts no? So.. what line does one cross or make here? Really

Bring a couple cutting edge modernist skyscrapers like these to stagnant Buffalo. Our skyline needs major help along with our economy.

Sorry to hear that, this skyscraper is a beauty. Although there is a lot of vacant office space in some of the skyscrapers in Toronto due to work from home and downsizing. I do hope Buffalo can thrive and grow. Thank you for your comment. Take care 🙂

Some cities completely cover their buildings entirely in screens now in other countries. Be glad we don’t do that and simply use lights/lighting to highlight or flatter the buildings we have rather than make them look like giant add trash eyesores. I don’t see the harm in one or two here and there being lit up like this. And it’s not always fully lit like this every night.

TD Tower: Pick me, Pick me!!!! I am amazed anyone likes this building. It looks so tacky. I thought I would get used to it but I dislike it more and more each time I see it. You say it can be seen from the expressway..... this eyesore can be seen from outer space. It's actually a nice building during the day with the lights off but looks like a christmas tree on steroids at night. You would think a major financial institution would want to maintain a timeless classy and sophisticated appearance. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe the architect who designed the original TD Towers (TD Centre) is rolling in his grave. I think the people who like this building take vacations to Disneyland, have personalized licence plates, enjoy the gaudiness of Clifton Hill and the sleaziness of the Vegas strip. I was at the top of the Manulife for dinner last month and the view of the skyline was spectacular other than the green blob that tries way too hard!! The saying "No amount of money can buy taste" is appropriate in this instance.

As you allude to, they are middle income/middle class. They MAY need the lights off sooner so they can sleep a good 8 hours before waking up at 6am. If they manage to have the lights off at 10pm, good for them and it's not the end of the world for 1 more hour of lights off.

@@onceuponacity No miss I completely think you’re wrong I don’t think that individual was trying to come across as rude or nitpickey at all , but Torontonians at least the grand majority do not say “toron-TOE”… that is unfortunately incorrect and has been kind of communicated widespread in pop culture now.
We say it as “Toron-no” or “Chrono”, but yes most people nowadays will meet you with scorn if you say it like that.
For reference it’s as if someone were to pronounce “Queens quay” as ‘Queen’s Kway’ instead of “Queen’s Key” 😊
