Just saw your video and decided to try solo again. Won two straight games!! For me it works to just focus on appeal. Just dash around the appeal track and at some point conservation points will be coming. You cannot focus too much on long term plans and gambles. Not enough time for that. Cool video, man!
I've only played this multi-player with a friend's copy, but my own is arriving soon so I'm excited to try out the solo mode! Great video, it helped me see the differences in modes
I've played solo twice now and lost both times. The problem for me seems to be getting stuck in the building mode and forgetting about the conservation. Thanks for the playthrough!
Im late to the party, but i just completed the solo challenge. I found the X tokens and X action being much more powerful in single player allowing more x5 actions when youre pressed for action economy. Great game, i disguised a racoon as baby panda to boost sales in a failing zoo 10/10.
22:30 You forgot to take the 3 appeal from playing the snake. 33:10 Could have also made a donation for 1 extra convervation point while doing the association action. Well played, at first I didnt think you were going to make it. Using sponsor card action for money a couple of times is rough. Don't forget you can also opt to not take the action but gain an X token instead. X-tokens are usually much needed for me in the final rounds to get the actions you want at the proper strenght.
Good eye, So I lost the appeal that I had never received when the snake left my zoo I guess and yes I definitely could have made a donation at the end too good point I think I was just too excited that I finally won to catch that lol Thanks for watching the video, those are some great strategy tips, I’ll have to put them to use next time I play :).
I'm a little puzzled by the explantion at 17:44. I get that that you have the Asian partner zoo, but the Elephant triggers -3 coins twice? I do indeed see the 2 Asia icons at top of card, but unsure where (not saying it isn't), you can deduct 6 coins. If that is indeed the case, dang that's good to know. My previous inclination is that it triggers just once per card...but I see the argument for it now. Wish it was a bit more clear. And as an aside, my OCD nature is having me cringe everytime you toss tokens/meeples/cards to the board and everything gets slightlly jostled, un aligned, or outside their lines....argh
It’s kind of hidden on page 11 of the rulebook but yes it’s 3 coins cheaper per partner zoo symbol on the animal card, hahah sorry to hear that I totally understand this is one of the worst games to play with OCD for sure.
Haha it’s definitely not the easiest game to learn and strategize, but if you stick with it I’m sure you’ll be an expert at it in no time :) glad to hear the video was helpful

When you play a sponsor card from your hand, and it’s one of the ones that give you a “special Enclosure” - do you have to pay the 2 per section to put it in? Or is it just a freebie enclosure?

Glad to hear the video was helpful :). Solo and multiplayer are the same, when a player reaches 10 conservation points or you reach the end of the game without anyone reaching 10 points then each player discards 1 of their final scoring cards. I got rid of one when I made it to 10 points, but one of the animals I played throughout the game I think it was the elephant I can’t remember now lol but anyways it allowed me to draw another final scoring card so I ended up with 2 at the end of the game.

Hey, Ive actually never played with the Arno rules, I’ll have to learn them and see what I can do :) I do have a long list of videos I’m trying to make at the moment though unfortunately, never enough time to make all the videos I want lol.
Hey, while Endless Winter is on my list I haven’t been able to play it yet so I unfortunately can’t judge which is better. All I can is Ark Nova is a lot of fun solo and I find it plays best at a 1-2 player count. Also Ark Nova and endless winter are very different styles of games it would be hard to compare them. Endless Winter is a little cheaper though I believe so it might be safer to start with that one if you can’t decide between the two but from what I gather about endless winter they’re both great games and there’s really no wrong choice.
@@fatherofgames9239 got close my last 2 tries at least.. solo mode does teach you to “rush” though so I’m hoping it helps next time I play multiplayer (or ARNO). You can’t sit around and build up in solo.
@@fatherofgames9239 I did finally win 1. My biggest issue with this solo mode is you have to gets a few conservation projects or you (seemingly) have no chance. Drawing 3 off the bat and getting no cards that go with them dooms you. I prefer ARNO version but will play both based on time/etc
Glad to hear you finally won, you’re absolutely right you definitely need conservation cards to win and your at the mercy of what you draw, I’ll have to try Arno sometime 😊

It’s a little tight but they definitely all fit in and the lid can close all the way too

0-2 solo, and 0-1 versus ARNO here as well…. It’s still fun, but doesn’t seem to be easy.
