Would you like to have a blacksmith video for the flintlock, or to make other machines, such as the 18th century Austrian airgun valve. Thank you, and how to let the iron is not rust, is a simple anti-rust method, thank you, I support you, your e-mail is how much, I was 992467756@qq.com, China's Tencent qq mailbox , I come from Henan Province, China, the name is any star.
The Redsmith You're welcome, Sir. I would enjoy seeing your processes on Japanese Kamas. ( hand-held 1/4 sicles atop oaken handles. ) Your work is appreciated.
The Redsmith . I thought that you might like that idea. Back in 2007, I made it as far as the Canadian Nationals, in the Senior Blackbelt Traditional forms. During the Regionals( inter-province), I employed the use of a set of kamas I had purchased, as my " Kata weapon of choice." I. placed 3rd in the division, but not before being taken to hospital, for one of my kamas ( razor sharp) stabbed and tore through 2 layers of my black belt my gi top and an undershirt, only to penetrate 1 1/2" into my back and missing my spine by 1/2". I got my medal, trophy and 12 stitches. Worth it.
Waow. Happy it missed the spine ! In my many years of training I never hurt myself as my as during my years of making. Tools are sometimes more dangerous than sharp weapons... Glad you're ok. Scars can be trophies too :)
First axe regrind I've seen on TH-cam where someone was finally knowledgeable enough to understand they needed to heat treat and temper the blade after all that cutting.
I've got to say when I saw you throw it in the trash I choked on my Guinness a little. But, then you completely redeemed yourself. It has a fantastic look and that handle, bruh, the handle brought it together wonderfully. You, and people like you, give inspiration to others to step up our game and stop with the "I'll just buy a new one attitude". The more I watch on the old TH-cam machine the more I am heartened by the fact that so many like you are taking up the mantle of a hands approach to life. It's just unfortunate that skills like this are not highlighted more frequently in the media.Well done.
Thank you ! Your comment made my day !! Indeed, buying, throwing away and buying again is something I avoid doing. I find value in old stuff and really like giving them a second life. Thank you very much for watching. :)
Love the carved handle. The dramatic impact of that head going into the trash heap and then coming back out, wow. Your work is enjoyable and pleasing to watch.
Awesome work, best of all of the making a Viking axe from an old axe that I have seen, and the only one with a properly shaped handle, most put a modern shaped axe handle instead of a roundish shaped on like yours! I love it!
DUDE..!!!!! Love all the detailing on this pc. Next time you have cracks in an axe use your angle grinder to grind them out then weld over.. welding over a crack doesn't remove the crack, you have to get in there and get all of the crack, then fill the grind area with weld.. that handle is sweet too!! Very cool Celtic style.. and the leather to hold the head on was a nice touch.. VERY WELL DONE BROTHER!!!!!
Lonnie Dillon Thanks Lonnie. I really aporeciate your advice. I now realize I should have ask you before. But if I had I would have made a viking axe but maybe just a successful axe restoration 😊
Great work and video, I really enjoyed it! I put an axe restoration video out last week and since then TH-cam has suggested heaps of similar videos - I'm glad this one was suggested.
Super sympa!
The Redsmith oh thank u mate!i really apprecated it!i have a few ideas for my next video.so i need time and a bit more experiences...ill try my best.keep up the good work.
Always an instant thumbs up on your videos, my friend. You are an artist and an inspiration!! Hope some day soon here I can share a video or 2 with you!
Thank you very much for the kind words. I don't really do voice over (but why not). I may for sure keep the tool noises in some of my future videos. :)
That's amazing. You have some serious talent.
Thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate it ;)
Д
Thank you very much !!! (I was sure I answered your comment earlier, but somehow, I didn't...) :)

I have since subscribed to your channel and am thoroughly enjoying your videos! You are awesome!
My five year old daughter says you are a ninja. That’s pretty significant praise! Well done!
Can you please thank her for me. That's one of the biggest/best compliment I ever got😊
I have she wants an axe to restore now
@@jonvancil4431 😁😊❤🖤
The axe restoration and enhancements were worth the wait. Thanx 4 not giving up, as that really has some impressive attributes.
Thank you very much. Lot of work, but yes, it was worth the effort ;)
The Redsmith You're welcome, Sir. I would enjoy seeing your processes on Japanese Kamas. ( hand-held 1/4 sicles atop oaken handles. ) Your work is appreciated.
Japanese Kamas...hum, that's a cool idea. Will see what I can do ;)

Thanks, I appreciate it.
That's why I use a file an stone. But yes I agree.

Thank you very much ! Yes, I almost quit on this one...but I couldn't. I think it was the good choice to make :)
The shape of the axe head is so cool looking. I like the way you heat treated and tempered the axe head.
Thanks Chris. As I didn't know what the steel was, I had to do a proper heat treating and quench in hot oil. Glad you liked it ;)
Beautiful piece
Thank you!!
That defect getting cut out makes it look sexier. Great video.
Thank you Brian. Agreed, I really like how the head's shape turned out.
I am blown away by your ingenuity and talent. That axe is beautiful. You have given me a desire to learn a new hobby!
Thank you very much ! Your comment made my day. I hope you will give this hobby a try ! Totally worth the effort and time you put in. :)
Awesome work, best of all of the making a Viking axe from an old axe that I have seen, and the only one with a properly shaped handle, most put a modern shaped axe handle instead of a roundish shaped on like yours! I love it!
Thanks for noticing that ! You're the only one so far ;)
Thank you for watching and the kind words.
Question: wouldn't a slightly oval handle have been better, to keep the axe from turning in your hand? The rest of it was beautiful!
DUDE..!!!!! Love all the detailing on this pc. Niiice ! You have a great dad!!
Very Nicely Done Especially the leather it makes it one of a kind 👍👏👍👏
Thanks Alonzo. I was quite hesitating about the leather, but yes, it makes it look a little different.
And I put leather everywhere anyway ;)
So beautiful! My 4 year old daughter was mesmerized the whole time too!
Thank you Michael. Your comment makes me really happy. My almost 3yo kid is mesmerized when he watches Jimmy's video with me, but never with mine ;)
Uh-oh!
I have watched this video several times now but still love it... Thanks Red.

Awesome work on the axe head though I prefer the head wedged to the handle rather than the leather binding.
Thanks a lot. You're right ir would have been a more secure choice although it's a really tight fit.
I appreciate the "work hard stay humble sign" but still, this is a piece of work to be proud of, really nice.
Thank you very much ! I really appreciate the kind words. :)
That's marvellous! You could do some serious pillaging with that.

I see the age old trick of baking the axe head still seems to work wonders
It still does!
Not a big fan of the shiny head on a viking axe, but still a fine piece of art. Love it
Thank you very much!!😊
