I saw this ballet at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in LA back in July of the early 80s. It was performed by the Bolshoi! The A/C failed just as the performance was starting. The heat inside must have reached well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit!! Those dancers persevered on. We in the audience sat there and just dripped in sweat. Yet, this scene won everyone over. It was the same set as shown here, and the same costumes. Afterward, as my wife and I (and others, of course) walked to our cars, the dancers filed out to the waiting KGB bus, with Soviet guards (in bulky suits) minding them. Such little people, those dancers. We simply stopped, and allowed them to file onto the bus. We made sure to give them another standing ovation!!! Moments like that you can never forget.

BTW, composer Khachaturian's SPARTACUS is dated 1954, and this Bolshoi performance is dated 1984. I doubt that Khachaturian had even heard "Stormy Weather" in 1954. He could not have heard "My Way" in 1954!

Το έργο ακολουθεί τα κατορθώματα του Σπάρτακου, ο ηγέτης του σκλάβου εξέγερση εναντίον των Ρωμαίων γνωστό ως Τρίτο Πόλεμος των Σκλάβων, αν και ιστορία του μπαλέτου παίρνει σημαντικές ελευθερίες με το ιστορικό ρεκόρ. Χατσατουριάν συνέθεσε το μπαλέτο το 1954, και γι 'αυτό τιμήθηκε με το βραβείο Λένιν εκείνη τη χρονιά. BTW, composer Khachaturian's SPARTACUS is dated 1954, and this Bolshoi performance is dated 1984. I doubt that Khachaturian had even heard "Stormy Weather" in 1954. He could not have heard "My Way" in 1954!
