Dustin gave BSD the advantageous positions that he obtained….went for 2 standing guillotine but was never in any danger and actually was able to get out pretty easily
It's not "if." It's "when." BSD, like Charles, fights with ZERO tactics, patience, or respect for his opponents. All opponents, to both Charles and BSD, are interchangeable.
But Islam and Dustin, these guys train for SPECIFIC fighters: they know how to use patience, tactics, and game planning, from one moment to the next.
That crazy approach that Islam took, in his first loss at the UFC, in his 1st or 2nd fight at the UFC, taugt him: you could get dropped by ANY ONE, at any time, if you think you could just bulldoze over everyone and run at them like there's no tomorrow!
Islam's entire MMA approach changed immediately after that loss: no more wild swinging; it's 98% counter striking, patience, and waiting for/making the right move, when he goes forward. And he only goes into a clinch, for the purpose of taking his opponents down.
Luckily, he also has ELITE MUAY THAI, with very good head moments (implemented since his KO loss) --- with extremely good knees, lower leg kicks, body kicks, push kicks, and head kicks ---- so he's not going to be a punch bag like Charles, either, even though Dustin is clearly going to be the superior boxing.
BTW, Islam and Charles are both over 5'11". Khabib is 5'10" and it's clear Islam is taller than Khabib. Look at videos of Islam walking with arms linked with Usman: they are more or less the same height. It's just that when Islam fights, he, as a natural wrestler, stances low, for a purpose.

In a world of olivera and gaethje, how do you give a title fight to dustin?
Islam wants to fight in June and October and who knows if either gatheje or arman/olivera winner will be ready in 2 months
Its a timing issue. The other guys are all booked. And in my opinion, Dustin is probably the best active fighter who never touched undisputed gold. I don't think he'll beat Islam, but he absolutely deserves one last crack at the title, based on his overall resume. Less deserving fighters have gotten title shots before.
Yeah UFC dropped the ball by setting up Max vs Justin. Will be a great fight to see for sure but if Justin rejected that fight he would be looking at a title shot instead.

Justin Gaethje already deserved that title shot after beating not only Fiziev but DP as well. I don't see the logic in giving the title shot to DP before Oliviera and Gaethje. If this fight happens, I'm sure DP will retire after that.
Pal the logic is that Justin, Olivera are all book for April and Islam wants to fight in June so they are not expected to make that quick turn around and that leaves DP as the only contender among the top.

With the exception of Islam’s first fight with Volk, his striking defense is so underrated. I would highlight Islam dropping Charles. Charles drops Charles when shadow boxing.
