      Shark tank was made for small companies that have no connections but have great products and so the sharks open the doors for them. This guy was 4 PHD with i dont know how many certifications for his business and he was getting grants from the government just for existing, this is literally everything that shark tank was not made for. Also the most important point (for me at least) is how sketchy he was, like i felt bad for the veteran he looked like he was forced to be here or that guy would take back his biotic arm from him or something 💀💀impressed by how fast mark cuban smelled that something fishy is going on (and him selling 15k arms that cost him 2k to make really invalidates his noble mission of helping that small Pakistani girl he saw on the street, like do you think that girl can buy a 15k arm? yeah hell no)

    • @amackzie
      @amackzie หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@faroukusuc9024 I don’t agree with the last part. The 2k is just manufacturing costs. There are still rnd costs salaries marketing costs not factored in. I think a bionic arm will always be expensive to make given it’s a new frontier and they cost 2k to make. But I totally agree with the first part, I do love seeing all kinds of ideas for businesses on shark tank from house hold appliances, biotech, food and drink, fashion and apparel, electronic devices like the ring door bell, services, green solutions, pet products and the like. It shows you there are incredibly gifted people working a diverse set of problems

    • @Cardb33
      @Cardb33 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@datwest5166 It was worth $50m when he walked in. That's what the market valuation was that he raised money at. People invested at the $50m valuation prior to him walking in to the Shark Tank which is why he had the valuation that he had in the first place.

  • @samgspot
    @samgspot หลายเดือนก่อน +71

    To all the people saying he’s greedy, you can’t grow a company to a global scale with small margins, he even said how he could only do 100 per year based off their current margins.

    • @codiekennedy-lt2kz
      @codiekennedy-lt2kz หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Exactly, the 1800 doesnt factor in RND costs he has already paid as well. Thats what he can build one for now, but thats after paying engineers millions and prototypes etc.. Also takes money to make money like you said, large margins means more money to place bids with factories in china that scoff at him right now or overcharge. For example item 1 custom manufactured order 1000 units- 50 a pc. 100000 units 24 a pc. etc..

    Update on the company
    " In May, 2024, Psyonic partnered with EastPoint Prosthetics & Orthotics and Advanced 3D, Inc to make custom-made prosthetic sockets for the Ability Hand. The partnership has the goal of making advanced bionic limbs more accessible and affordable. As of the first re-run of this episode in June, 2024 - about 3 months after the original air date - there is no evidence the deal with the Sharks closed. The company, at this time, is valued at $65.07 million."

      Only 100 units made it to the market so far. There is always additional cost outside production cost, and so most of the profits will be drained just to scale. It's too expensive and very high risk for investors.
      Ring, for example, raised $400M from investors for them to sell for $1B. A lot more investment will be needed for this company to survive.
      As for the price of each unit, it will most likely go down as the company continues to scale

    I think Cuban's rosy idea of how the VA and healthcare companies treat Vet's needs to be scrutinized more here. This is a more expensive prosthetic, which means it would cost more for the VA and health insurance companies to cover the cost. If only wealthy people lost their hands, a 15 thousand dollar arm that does what this does would be a billion dollar idea. But since the market for people that would actually need this hand isn't the extremely rich, VC's would naturally not be inclined to take on the risk due to the lack of return on investment.
