I listened to both of them and I always took it as throwing respect to Biggie.
It’s no different from 50 Hail Mary.
I could give you a thousand times people are giving props.
What we should be more concerned about is when they recycle the music over and over and over subliminally.
There’s a reason re gravitate to certain songs. The first times we hear them they already sound familiar.

@@j3zhottEther was a trash beat yet Nas still won. Nas has also said sometimes he picks unique beats to challenge himself. Personally, I think this narrative is overblown. Illmatic is filled with great beats. Get Down, Last Real N Alive, One Mic, Got Yourself, most Nas beats actually hot.

@oophorror2251 I'm saying Jay Z was smart to align himself with the current hottest beat makers. Nas does not do this the right way. You named classics but his new shiii bars nice but the songs with the beats mid or wack. He's dropped 3 or 4 albums recently that I felt he could have picked better beats on

Russell Simmons is in on it too! They knew exactly what was going on. Had to get rid of the STRONG MASCULINE VOICES. Hence all this soft kiddie mumble Crunk, drill and trap music. I've been making music independently for over 20 years and was raised along side hip hop and I listen to all genres, when it comes to hip hop most "producers" don't make their own sounds, they sample which is fine if done properly, there are very few actual composers, people bite lyrics all the time, sometimes as a shout out or reference and others just aren't creative and steal shit. The industry and business side is a whole other animal, they will steal your NAME, Album titles, and use their position and leverage to make sure you are never heard of, all while they steal your ideas, themes, you name it. The worst violation is when "major label" artists steal from an unknown. Show business is just that...alot of fake shit. Pay to play. I can go on for days about this, I've been at the label offices, hustled mixtapes back in the day, radio, performances, etc etc...the contracts. It's not for a weak spirit that's for sure. Im in a good space and continue to do this because I love the artform and I don't even worry about making money from it, I don't sell my soul 💯 I share my God given gift with the world freely. But yeah this video you posted is the tip of the iceberg lol

Now Jay is good but at the end of the day he’ll stay in line if he’s told to do so (my own view) so they pushed Jay out like crazy so perfect timing now perfect place he’s from New York at they time late 90s New York was on top it is what it is, if he had come from Houston or something it wouldn’t have worked I mean look at Scarface if he was born in New York everyone will consider him top 5 and it’s unfortunate some people don’t really know his music. It happens in sports too, look at Messi came in for real for real when Ronaldinho the goat was on his way out perfect replacement and the media can push him as the nice humble guy to appeal to the masses unlike Ronaldinho who was a party animal. Perfect time, perfect place Barcelona a team that suits his attributes as a player can you imagine him starting his career in England or Italy two very physically dominating leagues who knows what could had happen.

It's on of my my fave Jay Z songs of all time. Yes he "bit" a ton of BIG's rhymes, all of those Cam'Ron exposing I can confirm since they're directly from some of BIG's most iconic songs, but I also feel like that was the point; to pay homage to the great one. Idk I guess I never judged him for it.

As someone born & raised in BK Brooklyn and as a Jay, Big & NaS fan in my opinion I see nothing wrong here. I believe being in NYC during the time Big died left a whole in our hearts as New Yorkers. Jay & NaS had to fill a void that the city so deeply needed. Jay being from the borough along with being good friends with his Brooklyn’s Finest counterpart and legend put Jay in position to takeover the City and Hip Hop over all together. Let’s keep in mind in order to that he already had to be one of the best which he was and still is. All artist being music , art etc have paid respect to one another to some level. Jay is too skilled to have to “ Bit “ rhymes. In humble and personal opinion all Jay has done and still does is shows love to old and new artist and helps keep them relevant. Many of these rappers he’s paid homage to actually consider him as one of the best ever, Khilla included. On the Black Album “ Hands down my personal favorite he told y’all what he was doing , why he was doing it and then did it again right after in the verse. Pure genius 🙌🏿 ( see 👇🏿 ). Good conversation tho.

@@asylum1166 NaS out of the 3 is my favorite. I was introduced to his music 🎶 first and always respected him being before his time. With that being said NaS has paid homage in similar ways. Dr Knock Boots was his version of Ten Crack Commandments. In addition showed love to Big & Pac in his We Will Survive Track. NaS paid homage to Rakim in his Unauthorized Biography Track and sampled the flow and beat Paid in Full Beat in his Jay diss track after the iconic Hot 97 summer jam ft Jay.
I believe Jay & NaS continue to go at because that’s what you do in the sport of Hip Hop. Wether it’s Jay dropping a line like “ Who’s the best MC - Biggie , Jay-Z or NaS? & Nas dropping an Album 💿 called “ I Am “ is what these geniuses do. In my opinion it’s all good. As a fan I appreciate it.
Snoop is also one of my favorite rappers. He blessed us with his classic DoggyStyle. One of my favorite tracks on the album is “ Lodi Dodi “ paying homage to the legendary Slick Rick who all of the greats admire as well. I’m going back to Cali by Big is him showing love to Queens legend LL Cool J. Once again I appreciate it.

@@354allday In my opinion when you are from where someone else is from and can relate to some of the same things you experienced growing up in life usually stronger bonds are built between individuals. It’s almost like going away to college and meeting someone who is like minded and you becoming closer in friendship then someone you grew up with all of your life. I’ve been blessed to have Best Friends that I knew all of my life and some who have entered in it in later stages. This could be similar with Big and Jay in my opinion.
