Trevor Go Pro Hero 5 and 6 embed the GPS and accelerometer data in the video files. The overlay on this video is the stock one that GoPro Quik desktop software can add based on the data. You can also use Race Render 3 to add more custom overlays, or extract the racing lines like shown in the link included in the video description.
@@malATX Can it put your lap times up? Not sure how that might work given you'd likely need the camera to communicate with the transponder/track system.
Joe Burnes go pro software cannot, but race render can do it. It just uses the gps data to time the laps. You can see that on my margay videos. It times the laps to within about .05s to the official lap timing.
Good stuff!!! There's more oil on that track than in the Persian Gulf!? I got to do 'this' at some track in SW Michigan maybe three or four times. They/we had teams of four and there were some 8 to 10 teams. I sucked big time and would spin out way too much. The track was short and tight :(! The "racing" was rough on the body but awesome.
Myasa Man definitely not the kart, mostly the latter, which boils down to practice. Fwiw, the kid I was trading positions with (orange black helmet) had a slightly quicker fastest lap than mine in this race😀
It is definitely the racing line and steering/throttle input. I race in a league there using those karts. Out of everyone I saw in this video, it appeared the 2 main guys were the only ones with anything near an actual racing line. Most of the others appeared like they were either completely new to the track or new to this type of racing in general.
I clocked your laps. It seems your best times were when you were dueling with the Kid. Good race! I've booked a couple of races there next weekend. Looking forward to it.
Carlos how were you able to put that on your go pro screen? Next time we are at COTA will you pretty please show me. I would love for you to follow Peyton like that so I can see what he sees...Mum will never race..
Lora Phillips Hi! If you have a Hero5 or Hero6 go pro, these overlays can be added by the GoPro Quik desktop software. The camera records GPS and accelerometer data along with the video. I also figured out how to extract the exact racing lines driven and overlay it on a Google Map Satellite image of the track... Cool stuff! If he has a stick-on GoPro mount on his helmet, he is welcome to borrow my camera for a race 😀 I wouldn't mind comparing his racing lines to mine!
Joe Burnes the track is faster after the resurfacing and minor layout changes. I expect Peyton will improve further and get into a solid 52. His 53 was in kart 26 which is really nothing special. Basically the track is 2s faster now.
@@joseperezpaz9986 if you go on league night you'll get better times as there aren't beginners driving slowly. Back in the day 55s were common and a few 54s.
I never thought I'd watch a 12 min kardting vid from start to finish. Great racing.
i literally didnt realize that was 12 minutes it was so good
i thought you were gonna get him on that last right turn you took it so well. awesome vid! i cant wait to go in a couple weeks!
Yeah that would've worked on most people. He's a good racer for sure
That was fun to watch. Definitely on my bucket list!!!!!
Do they set the limiter at a higher top speed for the competitive races vs the fun races?
This was before they created those new classes. I believe the karts seen here would be equivalent to Competitive today.
How were you able to get this overlay/HUD? Was it done post-race with a program or done by the camera?
This is awesome!

No oil just some water
Great battle.
Is this in a junior kart and fun race?
No this is their fastest karts. I think they call it "competitive race" in today's terms. Back then it was called "champ"
Can't tell if your kart is actually faster than the rest or if your racing line and throttle input is 10x better than everyone else's

@@malATX Peyton just set the track record 2 nights ago so that would be a smart move on your part. ;)

Solid racing!
This is AWESOME!
What was your time??

malATX wow! That’s quick!
@@malATX I got a 55 when I went a few weeks ago and it was slick after it rained a few hours before
I know this guy!!! He's super cool.
