The Urban Lumber Company: Reclaiming City Trees One Trunk At A Time

The Urban Lumber Company was founded with a mission to divert Kansas City trees that are removed for a variety of reasons, from entering the waste stream. We salvage trees from all corners of the Metro, saw them into manageable logs, and repurpose them into functional, high-quality lumber.
In addition to this, we deliver an array of specialized services including custom milling, joinery, planing, and finishing (general woodworking). We also supply hardwood lumber and take pride in creating unique fixtures that bring natural charm to our customers’ homes.
A big part of our operation began in 2012, when Missouri Organic contacted us with the idea of making better use of the logs that they were acquiring. We shot around ideas and ended up partnering to create the larger-scale milling operation we have today.
