Piracy in the South China Sea

- China's Coast Guard stopped a Philippine Coast Guard small boat near Second Thomas Shoal. Chinese sailors attempted to puncture the inflatable hull of the supply boat with diver knives. Chinese sailors attacked a crew member with a fire axe chopping off his right thumb. Chinese sailors stole supplies from the small boat as the crew was being attacked.

Mutual Defense Treaty update: Even after explaining each article with visual aids, there was still one knuckle head who doesn't get. Don't be like him.
June 25 Update: Philippine President has made an additional statement since recording declaring the Chinese Cost Guard action as an 'unlawful' use of force. This is much more defiant message than what he said at the hospital with the injured sailor.
Update: Some people don't read the description before commenting, maybe they will read this?

China clearly violated article 5 of the treaty by attacking the philippines, which constitutes an attack on the country, which triggers the treaty. Clearly the philippines president could call up Biden and ask for help but he wont cause he seems to live in the fantasy world that words will stop china.
If only we had not been requested to leave Subic back in the 90’s non of this nonsense would be happening now.
The word he used was "pagsang-ayon" which usually means "approval" but he said it as "consent, endorsement, acceptance". His statement was: "Ang ating kalmado at mapayapang disposisyon ay hindi dapat ipagkamali bilang pagsang-ayon".
While I understand our treaty and the terms of it thanks to your explanation. I disagree with allowing a hostile powerful nation bully a smaller nation into submission. This will not end without bloodshed its really simply. The harassment will continue the inaction of the UN the enforce the ruling they submitted will also continue and eventually China will go as far as sinking ships and killing those marines on the abandoned ship. The more you allow a bully to do. He will become more and more emboldened by your inaction. I hate to sound like a broken record but we have seen this play out in 39 with Germany. 🤔
Weakness will only invite more conflict.
Worst case, this is a rehearsal for what they're planning around Taiwan.
Nowadays, being Peaceful is a weakness.
All was well, mostly, until u overstated the "protest" at the capital by saying that "as long as you're not chucking fire extinguishers at capital hill police, you will simply be detained for your protest if it gets out of hand, and then released". Many CONSERVATIVE "non violent" attendees and journalists, are currently STILL in jail! Why? Not cool
I think the case is being made to the internation world.
I still think it's time for action!
Well since nobody is going to do anything about it, it's going to continue.
yep 😕
The big problem is the Philippines does not own properties in the South China Sea in the first place. If the predecessor, the U.S.A. owned the Spratly Islands, then it's easy for Philippines to claim ownership, BUT, the U.S.A. never claimed ownership. Claiming ownership out of nothing is difficult.
@@tibetanchineseofchina So? That does not allow the Chinese ownership of something that is internationally recognized as international waters. Just because the Philippines doesn't own ____ doesn't give China the rights to it automatically. That is not how it works. China will be met with military force eventually if they keep escalating this situation that they artificially started by harassing the Philippines by targeting them in their economic zone claiming it as their own territorial waters which it is not.

Didn’t Philippine’s win in International Court in 2016 about the sovereignty of that island & other islands there?
The United States should join the international law of the sea as soon as possible. And lift sanctions against international courts. Deploy at least 500000 ground troops to the Philippines. Permanently stationed 3-5 aircraft carrier battle groups in the Philippines. Be determined to sacrifice 500000 soldiers to defend the Philippines. In the next year, allocate at least $200 billion in voluntary aid to the Philippines.

Hey boss, who did the Philippines get their independence from? Oh yeah that’s right it was the U.S. who decided it couldn’t ignore being just like their European counterparts by colonizing brown people. What a wonderful history are nation has 😂
They did so the Chinese government changed their argument from legal claims to 'historical claims'. But even their historical claims are quite questionable because it was based on very old maps that ultimately references the Ming Dynasty's (1368-1644) claims of SCS islands, it would be like the Roman empire drawing a map of the Mediterranean sea and modern Italy using it as a claim to why they own all of that sea. Absurd CCP justification for expansionism to steal gas and oil.
Didn’t Tom Clancy write a book about this?
Yes , the title of the novel was “SSN” released around 96/97 … it’s a fun read but considering when it was released and how the PRC has since then completed a total 180 it’s kinda now dated in the good realism CLANCY novels usually entailed…

Great video, thanks Jive!
If you look real close, you can see the tip of that Chinesium knife instantly blunt when it contacts the rubber on that boat.
I may be wrong, but if the Philippines wanted to put this to bed once and for all, they would come out in force to resupply their marines. Instead, they feast on the media coverage for the US military support.
That's a possibility, but they may also be cautious about coming out in force considering that China does have the capability of responding with force of their own.
the Philippines doesn’t want to lose Chinese capital investment.
The Philippines has an MDT with America. Invoke the MDT now. America can invoke the MDT without consent from the Philippines
That's just what China wants, to force PH into a conflict.
I know people in the military in the Philippines, and heres what they say. This is part of a calibrated action and response to what China is doing in response to them.
If they go out there and send military logistics vessels, China will go out and send its own naval escorts, then they will need to send their combat ships to the area, China will send more and simply has more to send.
Right now, they are still in the midst of a long term military upgrade program that has a total budget of around $35 billion, they can't act tough yet until they get the ships and cruise missiles they ordered, some of the projects include purchasing more Brahmos Antiship missiles (they already have 3 batteries) and 168 units (28 batteries) of MLRS launchers.
I think once they have fully modernized, China will need to commit too much resources in the South China sea that they may take negotiations more seriously.

LMFAO. What are you going to do about it?
War! What is it good for? Turns out lots if you want innocent people to not be terrorized and attacked by evil
President Marcos's speech reminds me of one of my dad's favorite sayings. He was a very tough guy. "Don't mistake my kindness for weakness."
You mean to tell me the Philippines do not have access to helicopters. That would seem like the easiest way to avoid being attacked by boats and resupply the island in question.
Philippines does air drop supplies as well.
It wont stop them from being attacked. PLA Militia and Coast Guard have been known to use powerful lasers in an effort to blind the crew onboard the Philippine supply ships. The only difference is, rather than point them at people on boats, they point them at pilots who are flying aircraft.
@@Rose.Of.Hizaki well, if they down a Phillipine flagged military helicopter by blinding the pilots, that would be a surefire way to trigger the UN defense contract they signed.
These are ACTS OF WAR, not piracy.

Great vid Capt 👌
I have a ? off the wall? Can or do you hear storms while submerged? Thunder?
When will they switch to using a helicopter to resupply? It's one thing to collide with a boat, aircraft are a completely different ball game where the stakes are much much higher.
So who is going to stop the Chinese if they decide to take the Second Thomas Shoals?
Us. Eventually. Hitler invaded Poland in 1938. We didn't invade Europe for snother six years. Japan attacked us directly. We declared war the very next day.
I remember one of your videos talking about how great it was that we’ve been getting video of this to show the world. My question now is the same as it was then, to what point? China doesn’t give a rats ass what the world thinks.
Economic sanctions and denying certain Chinese citizens entry to the Philippines would be in order. Trade In December 2022, the top exports of Philippines to China were Integrated Circuits ($220M), Refined Copper ($149M), Commodities not elsewhere specified ($87.2M), Coal Briquettes ($44.4M), and Nickel Ore ($42.6M). Source OEC world
LMFAO. China sanctions the Philippines, not the other way around. Ant vs elephant. LoL.
slight correction, the NAVSOG officer that lost his thumb lost it when his RHIB (rigid hull inflatable boat) was rammed by a Chinese boat, the collision caused the Chinese boat to partially skid over the top of his RHIB and run over his hand.
So the Philippine president basically said speak softly and carry a big stick.
Sub Brief, I am a fan of your channel, but the Philippine Navy Seal operator who got his thumb cut off officially claimed that a Chinese Coast Guard boat rammed his RHIB, and that's what caused the removal of his thumb.
It was not because a CCG personnel cut his finger off with a fire axe.

Agreed, a giant cargo ship would be much better, the logistics problem would be solved because it can hold more supplies
Hey Aaron, great video. Given that this is internationally recognized Philippine protected waters, I'd like to see an emergency broadcast message from the shoal about a "pirate" attack and a response by the US with the littoral class ships to see if they can execute a supply run as a simple productive mission of life time. Naturally, if the PLN would like to escalate during entry from international waters into internationally recognized Philippian waters, we can correct them on their GPS reading skills with the proper assets to show them the error via triangulation of their erroneous readings. It's a simple demonstration that as the Chinese ferry boats drift towards across the straight to Taiwan, that if we cut across their bow with US assets before the landing, FAFO. While diplomacy is a subtle art, being blatant and obvious about the intended message prevents any miscommunications.
@4:40 That is Ray Epps, a known Federal Agent and "Jan 6th" instigator, throwing the fire extinguisher. It's interesting that you used that image in this video. Is there something you're trying to tell us?

Isn't this an act of war?
from Philippine side they are special force , and fingers were lost due to ship impact, fire axe,?hahaha
I am actually more concerned about conflict with China kicking off because of something related to the Philippines than related to Taiwan. We have 'strategic ambiguity' for Taiwan, but rarely do we talk about the US-Philippines defense agreement, which could easily be invoked by The Philippines if a sailor or citizen is killed either with intent or accidentally. When bladed weapons start coming out, all bets are off. Let us not forget the hand to hand fights between Indian and Chinese soldiers. It can happen and frankly is more or less a only matter of time if this continues.
The United States should join the international law of the sea as soon as possible. And lift sanctions against international courts. Deploy at least 500000 ground troops to the Philippines. The Philippines sent military forces to participate in the operation, driving high-speed assault boats to ram Chinese coast guard ships several times; the Philippines threw heavy metal objects and other heavy objects at Chinese personnel, and also splashed unknown liquids, "which constituted a malicious attack." The Chinese coast guard only carried normal law enforcement tools to participate in law enforcement, and did not carry offensive weapons like the Philippines. In the process of law enforcement, it was "reasonable, beneficial, and restrained, and the handling was reasonable, legal, and standardized."
The nonsense on this channel lets people know that this world is dark.
This the kind of propaganda I expect. Well thought out, good grammar and replies to self. Bravo sir.
I think a lot of the rest of the world disagrees about the legality of Chinese actions but let's assume your claim is true for arguments sake, then why is the PLAN so close to Phillipine evolutions/vessels in the first place. Just don't come close to Phillipine vessels and they can't throw heavy objects at PLAN vessels.

Except J6 protesters have not been released
J6 wasn't a protest. The people who stormed the Capital building attempted to interfere with the certification of the Electoral College results. That's a Felony, not a Protest.
Exactly. Most held without a fair and speedy trial for essentially a tour, with many being invited in. It was a trap by the deep state, initiated by the FBI. I've heard the stories directly from the families of those involved.
It's hard for our Banana Republic to say much about China at this point.
@@SubBrief -- Which happens by other political groups routinely, eg the attack on the White House by Democrat rioters which required evacuating the president or when Democrats routinely disrupt official proceedings of Congress by seizing portions of the building. The FBI concluded there was no attempt to overthrow or permanently disrupt the government -- so your claim they attempted to "interfere with the certification" is misinformation contradicted by the FBI themselves.
The only difference with J6 from *numerous* Democrat riots is that they didn't murder anyone (as Democrats did at BLM riots) and they didn't attack citizens (as Democrats did at BLM riots) and they were heavily prosecuted (as didn't happen to Democrats for murders, attacks on citizens, or their own disruptions of Congress).

@@SubBrief Protest that became a riot, that became a mob looking to lynch people.
@@SubBrief -- That's a bad example, because many believe the reason it's a "crime" compared to other events in the US is the particular politics.
Eg, 6 months before Democrats in Seattle declared an insurrection, handed out guns to children, drove off police, and then murdered a 16 year old live on Twitch for joyriding on their turf. They executed him to the chilling words "Oh, you're still alive?" after magazine dumping his vehicle and with a single pistol round to end his young life -- footage as chilling as an ISIS execution. There was barely an investigation and no prosecution. Entirely by local police, no FBI involvement.
Pretending that J6's harsh crackdown represents a classic example of law enforcement while ignoring that outright insurrection and murder from the other political party isn't prosecuted speaks to a deep political bias in your coverage.
You are, ironically, repeating propaganda.
@@zmgehlke Your point about Seattle seems alarming but also doesn't have anything to do with the very plain comment you are replying to. How does a wrong nullify another wrong? @@buckwheat2356 -- I was replying to a comment which said that J6th was an example of protest becoming illegal in a nation with "free speech".
I was pointing out that this is a poor example, because it's a political prosecution -- ie not an example of the limits of free speech: events much worse than these purported "crimes" routinely aren't prosecuted, such as the "mostly peaceful" beatings of Asians and murders of kids in parks.
