Thank you for sharing this!! I am currently in my masters program for LPC and I am graduating in May. It’s nice to see a week in the life of someone who deals with t the same stuff I will
Thank you so much for this, it’s so cozy in the beginning of the video! Looking into starting my associates in psych so I can then get my bachelors & then masters in mental health counseling.
Girl that game took me back 😂! I’m gonna do it and put self-cafe activities and let that dictate what I do!!! I also just wanted to say how proud I am of you ❤️
Hi Deyanira, thanks so much for the valuable information that you provide on your channel. Could you please possibly make a video about your grad school experience? Like how did applying go, where did you go, what was it like, how long does it take to complete, etc? Thanks.
Hi! Thank you Lisa! I have some dedicated grad school videos and my experience if you go to my grad school playlist. I’ll definitely try to do some more in the future too😊
What kind of activities do you do with your adolescents since your sessions are virtual? I'm currently in my internship where I provide individual therapy to youth and adolescents & zoom sessions have been a challenge for me. I struggle to keep them engaged over the computer.
I do anything expressive arts related or come up with activities that incorporate DBT or CBT skills that have to do with the original goals and objectives for treatment. So for example the origami fortune teller I showed with coping skills when you open the fortune, or especially drawing activities that help clients express/identify their emotions. I’ve even done a journaling session with some clients with prompts. Main goal for me in initial sessions is to get to know them, hear or read about what they love and interests them so I can incorporate that into activities we do. I feel you though, online is it’s own thing so I usually ask clients ahead of time to bring colors/pens/paper or whatever materials I want them to bring or modify it so they can use what they have on hand. I don’t have a session be all talk therapy unless I’ve already built rapport with the client and they want to share and talk, which does happen too. And even with good rapport sometimes they have a rough day and so I bust out a creative activity. Hope this helps 😊
Girl. I freaking love your channel. You are such an inspiration to me!
