AC37: INEOS are the Challenger for the America's Cup - Spithill retires

- That's a wrap, on the Louis Vuitton Cup Final, and next up it's the "Big Dance"!
INEOS Britannia 🇬🇧 defeated Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team 🇮🇹 7-4 and will now progress as the Challenger to face the Defender, Emirates Team New Zealand 🇳🇿 in the 37th America's Cup Match!
I spoke with Dylan Fletcher, who has been steely up to this moment showed a glimpse of how much this all means to him, as well as Ben Ainslie from Ineos. They are all now thinking of what lies ahead (except Freddie Carr who was on fire as they crossed the finish line).
I also spoke to James Spithill - and I had to do the interview that I thought might be coming. He retired while we were chatting. The Cup won't be the same without him, that is for sure! I played Back in Black as he departed the mixed zone for the last time. Thank you Jimmy!

I was a little taken aback at the thought.
Jimmy Spithill an absolute gent in defeat. The guy is a living legend of the sport. The fact that Ineos managed to beat him in such a good boat can give us hope for a competitive match for the Cup.

It's hard to imagine the defender being as race ready as either challenger is.
You can bet the Kiwis have their hair up a bit. What a series it has been. If the brits do win the Italians deserve a lot of credit for it.

Did occur to me Dylan Fletcher won Olympic Gold for GBR in Tokyo, who was second? I think it was NZL. Omen?
As a Kiwi what I've really liked is the great sportsmanship the British brought as Challenger of record. Pure class and all the battles have been done in amazing racing out on the water, Unlike last time in Auckland where LR caused all soughts of off the off the water drama.
So As a Kiwi I almost hope GB win.... Almost, congratulations, and our boys will have to be Peter Perfect to match Team GB. !!!
This been some of the best sporting and sportsmanship I have seen in my life. I have mad respect for the Kiwis, Peter Burling is gigachad, but i find myself cheering the Brits.
I believe it is way harder to win the Louis Vuitton cup than to climb K2 or Mount Everest 😮

Found it hard to like Jimmy in 2013. Ben the same as they were both on Oracle when they tore us apart from -2 points down to win 9-8. Jimmy my favourite sailor these days. I wanted Luna Rosa to win the LV cup but prefer INEOS next week. Be interesting to see INEOS in lighter winds after a couple weeks of obvious progression
