David, After painstaking deliberation my vote for top Toyota pickup goes to the T100 😉 If I was buying a Toyota 4X4 today and needed the carrying capacity of a pickup bed, a combination of 4Runner and utility trailer would be my first choice😁
David, Excellent comparison between the two trucks! I just picked up my 22 Tacoma TRD Pro in Electric Lime Green. Because of your video's, I went through and checked panel gaps, levels between panels, and paint and found them to be very excellent 👌. I'm loving the difference between my 17 & 22 TRD Pro's. The only negative I've found so far, is the backup camera and quality! My 22 is definitely worse than my 17 in terms of quality and view! Thanks -Shane
Your comparison was spot on with one exception. In comparing the height of the beds you gave preference to the tall Tundra bed because of the space beneath the tonneau cover. True enough but I urge a different comparison. Stand next to the side of the truck and attempt to pick something off the bed. The full size Tundra is impossible to reach above the high side to reach objects on the floor of the bed whereas with the Tacoma it is possible. That's a major convenience for lots of people.
Yes that is a good point! I don't usually do that because I have the tonneau cover flat out but if you have to frequently pick things then yes it's easier on the Tacoma.
I’m waiting for 2024 to purchase a truck. If the taco comes with rear coils, more hp, better seats for 6’2” driver they might get my money. If they include cylinder disable on the turbo 4 that would be a dealbreaker for me.
Just bought a Tacoma TRD Sport Double Cab 4WD 6 cylinder. We don’t tow, it’s not a work truck, and the rear seat is for our dog. If we towed or hauled heavy loads and a work crew, Tundra for sure. But we don’t. Love our Tacoma.
I prefer the Tacoma due to it’s size. I live very close to Moab and western Colorado where there are tons of narrow trails. The Taco suits them perfectly.
Great comparison. I’m definitely in the market for a new truck. I have always had full size N.A. trucks but really like the new Tundra and am excited for the new redesigned Tacoma. I think I’ll wait another year and see what Toyota comes out with before making a purchase! Thanks for your reviews!
Hey I want a tundra because I want a truck and v8 power but I think I might go 4Runner because with want the Japanese made car that’s gonna last and I want build quality. What would u do?
Hi David, I believe that both the Tacoma TRD and Tundra TRD PRO are great trucks. I think the brake down of both vehicle was great so if someone was considering purchasing either they can make an informed purchase based upon need and specifications. What are your thoughts on the 2022 Tundra TRD PRO battery life in terms of quality, choice of battery nickel metal hydride versus Lithium ion? How long do you believe the battery life on the 2022 Tundra I-force Max variants will be good for?
David! Thanks for measuring the height of the pickup bed; we'll be pulling a mission overland trailer and needing to stow a second fridge in the bed when the Pro arrives in November. You answered my question because, of course, YOU did. :) Do you have any videos where you discuss Toyota's protection plans?
Another tour de force comparison. The Tundra would be a tight fit on width for my standard residential garage door, but that would be my preference if I needed a short bed, crew-cab truck. Perhaps a short about total mileage records? I bought my ‘03 4runner with 90K miles and sold it to a friend’s kid with 286K. Ran great. If anything broke it was fixed.
David, I respect your option greatly. I have had a deposit on a new tundra trd pro for 10 months. A pro came in and the dealer is requiring a $1200 environmental package and a pulse brake light at $500. They are dealer installed requirement. I know that marked up prices is the norm. Do you have any thought or insights on the Toyota purchasing experience currently. I have been a Toyota owner for 40 years.
Had a Tundra previous gen now have a Tacoma, much more space in garage now, Tacoma is plenty large enough for my needs, plenty of power with a Sprint throttle booster added and so much better looking than the new gen Tundra.
Hey David, are you worried about the part time 4wd driving in our rainy vancouver? Coz I hated it while I had my FJ but no complaints for our current 4Runner limited
could anyone recommend videos explaining advantages & use-cases of monocoque chassis as relative to ladder frame... technicalities level upto 7/10 would be ok with me
David, My current pick is neither. If you can tell anyone that cares at Toyota that they need to do a launch in late 2022/early 2023 before people start buying GMC's/Chevy's. If they don't they risk losing fanatic's to them that want a new generation more capable midsized truck. Can you make that happen for us?
Just bought an 18 trd pro Tacoma 2 weeks ago, It's my 3rd Tacoma loving it so far..Why are the side Tacoma badges chrome when the back pcs are black weird...
Traded my 19 trd OR taco for my 23 Sr5 4x4 tundra. I've logged 8k miles and pretty sure I'm going back to a manual tacoma. I love fullsize trucks, my big gripe with my tundra is all the tech, my head unit constantly drops android auto. Auto start stop is really annoying, truck shuts off when shifting to park every time, adaptive cruise sucks, absolutely hate it and it gets 15ish mpg on 34s. There's a lot to love about a fullsize but I want as little electronics as possible these days
I am waiting for the new Tacoma to come out to see what it will be like. Hopefully they will address the seating position, and power train, to offer maybe a hybrid option. The existing Tacoma is getting long in the tooth, and I really didn't care for the existing automatic transmission. I have owned a Tundra as well, and that is just too much truck for me, however the interior room was amazing. I would even say the new Tundra can be up to 30K more expensive than the current Tacoma, and am feeling that Toyota is pricing the average joe out of the market when trying to find a truck to drive. I bought my 2018 Tundra Premium for 53K new from the dealer in 2018, and now you can find some New Tundras on the lot selling for over 100k Canadian. that is just crazy. Thanks so much for the videos.
I just got my 2022 tundra 1794 hybrid. My question is, you mentioned about the remote start shutting off after opening the door, do you know when the update is going to come out?
I’ll take the old fashion Tacoma any day not just over tundra but any other truck on the market, with that said , what was Toyota thinking when they were designing the tundra? The new tundra has to be the ugliest looking truck . I would give the Toyota design team an F for a grade .
The Tacoma is way superior than the Tundra for me. With the manual transmission, shorter wheel base and much narrower than the Tundra that I can tackle a lot of the narrow off road trails in Utah like a champ! So as on road. I got the 2021 TRD Off Road in 6 speed man
Trucks and cars have too much plastic. Wish they had a landcruiser 70 series in northamerica. Every deer that gets hit is costing more and more with these newer styles. We need something more rugged and dependable and cheaper on insurance.
If you can afford it, you're probably better off with Tundra! Just too many variables, like how Wrangler owners treat their Jeeps vs 4runner and their owners....
Tacoma all the way. The Tundra has gotten too expensive. The Tacoma will do what most of us need to do unless you are hauling extremely heavy loads, then you may need a Ford F250 or F350 diesel. Also a big price difference between the Tacoma and Tundra. Not worth the difference.
New Tundra Looks Uggly To Me 2 SQUARE Looks Like A Ford Or Chevy , Tacoma Still Has That Rounded Shape More Style, I'm Shure In The Mud Or Sand The Tacoma Would Leave The Tundra In Its Dust 😜🤪🤑🎯 ...

ah- him wants to pull his little wagon around, so cute.
I sold my 2019 tacoma TRD to buy the 2022 Tundra Limited I love my new Tundra but I still miss my Tacoma TRD .

I look forward to seeing your 4Runner vs. Sequoia sometime next year!
Thank you!
Hey David, you should do a video on the styling and features of the new Tundra that will make it most likely into the new Tacoma.
Yes I actually already did a video about the 2024 Tacoma but will create some more new ones...
Tacoma wins in price, usage, reliable.
Tundra is new tech truck never been tested in real life.
Great comparison. I’m definitely in the market for a new truck. I have always had full size N.A. trucks but really like the new Tundra and am excited for the new redesigned Tacoma. I think I’ll wait another year and see what Toyota comes out with before making a purchase! Thanks for your reviews!

You expect reliability to drop with new generation Tundra?
Can you do a comparison between an Avalon and an ES class which one gives you more bang for your buck? Thank you
I love everything but those hood pieces on the tundra trd
The new Tundra doesn’t even have tow hooks in the front OR rear….like, what???
David! Thanks for measuring the height of the pickup bed; we'll be pulling a mission overland trailer and needing to stow a second fridge in the bed when the Pro arrives in November.

Thank You David great job once again.

Very nice comparaison. Well explained and very informative. Thank you. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching!
What bed cover are you using?
How is the build quality at the Tacoma factories in North America ?
What is the payload difference between the two?

Why would you need AWD just for rain?? Snow, maybe. Rain, no.
could anyone recommend videos explaining advantages & use-cases of monocoque chassis as relative to ladder frame... technicalities level upto 7/10 would be ok with me
Would love you to review a Tacoma with supercharger! Compared to the tundra turbo

Just bought an 18 trd pro Tacoma 2 weeks ago, It's my 3rd Tacoma loving it so far..Why are the side Tacoma badges chrome when the back pcs are black weird...
The badges are a Canadian thing. Toyota is being cheap and not giving us black overlays up here. $20 on amazon fixes this issue.

You can turn off auto stop start
Do you think Toyota will put a front locker in the new Tacoma when it comes out to compete against GM’s new Canyon and Colorado ?
I am waiting for the new Tacoma to come out to see what it will be like. Hopefully they will address the seating position, and power train, to offer maybe a hybrid option. It's good question. I thought it was coming soon but so far, Toyota has kept quiet about it.
@@AutomotivePress well any updates me and you will get 😂 👍.

You're the man you know Toyota tell them to put a 2JZ in one of their trucks and call it Godzilla.
People would pay big money Toyota
Torn between a 23 Tacoma TRD pro or a 23 Tundra limited 🧐
I don't know if it's because of the way that I drive but I've never had anything over 20 MPG in my TRD off-road 😂
Dude, you're 6ft tall ?
Is your Tundra interior leather or softex?
It's softex
I want off road long bed, not offer in Canada 😢
I prefer the Tundra
I have a 2021 Tacoma. Love it.
as far as the Tundra, they were a pretty good looking truck. ugly as hell now.
Trucks and cars have too much plastic. Wish they had a landcruiser 70 series in northamerica. Every deer that gets hit is costing more and more with these newer styles. We need something more rugged and dependable and cheaper on insurance.

capstone or trd pro with dealer markup out the door $96k with calf sales tax ,dmv fee is $900 I passed might as well go 3/4 ton 4x4 diesel
My choice would be the previous gen Tundra or Tacoma. The 5.7L and the 4.0L are two awesome bulletproof engines that have gone away. Sad.
Sorry, don't have telegram
that is a lot of tourque
Got a 21 sport and no way in hell would I buy a tundra
New Tundra Looks Uggly To Me 2 SQUARE Looks Like A Ford Or Chevy , Tacoma Still Has That Rounded Shape More Style, I'm Shure In The Mud Or Sand The Tacoma Would Leave The Tundra In Its Dust 😜🤪🤑🎯 ...
Will stick with tacoma this tundra looks so plasticky…looks so cheap and low quility..and yes i hate twin turbo 😂
Wait till 2025. Simple
