This is three years ago. Her technique has since then improved and have become a lot better especially the low notes.

Julia, do you remember when EVERYBODY started posting their covers of the song Never Enough from The Greatest Showman? I am reasonably certain that Katrina's version was the first to hit YT. Everybody thought she had lip-synched it when she did it in her room on her iphone mic with her laptop. So, two weeks later she did it at an open mic night in front of a live crowd. Both versions are AMAZING! She did some small amount or rearranging so she could fit a bigger belt into the time. There's a part where I dare people to breathe only when she breathes and very few people can manage because she has INSANE breath control! You GOTTA check that one out (either version is fine but I prefer the one at home, personally)! I PROMISE, totally worth your time! Luv ya!

A simple search here will show several artists who uploaded covers before Jan 29, 2018 the day she uploaded. The Movie opened in the West before Christmas that year, it was an amazing ballad, written by Pasek and Paul that Loren Allread knocked out of the park. Artists from all over wanted to try it. Kat has a great rendition , but not ground zero on that cover.

@@jamescurfman3284 a vocalist named Dustin uploaded on the 12, same with anothe r vocalist by the name of Kim Fransens another artist named John Pinto dropped his the same day as Kat. It doesn't minimize her performance, but I think the credit goes to Loren as the spark.

If you haven't seen it, there are some more recent releases from this year on her channel called Katrina Velarde Official. Reflection, and After The Love Is Gone, are two very good ones.

I noticed the earlier wish performances dial up the reverb to infinity and beyond! This applies to all the vocalist from that time period. It makes it sound like they're in a shipping container and we are listening to them with a cardboard paper towel roll against one ear...

My favorite video of Katrina Velarde is her live version of "Somewhere over the Rainbow". The audio is far from perfect but her performance cuts through and blew my mind. Her connection with the band (who are amazing keeping up with her dynamics), making the song her own and crap I lost my train of thought because i remembered the video. Anyways, it's a guaranteed eargasm for anyone who appreciate great vocals 😅

As a former performer, myself, I agree with you on her technique. Sometimes when Katrina sings, she goes for notes that while she can hit them, are probably not where she should be belting. THAT BEING SAID....there sometimes there comes a point where critique of technique becomes minor because the quality of the PERFORMANCE IS so good that technical problems become forgiveable. I can name ballet dancers, for example, who have impeccable technique, but I'd rather watch another dancer because they just have more charisma and stage presence.

I have a request! I would love to see you review the singer Lizzy Hale! She is from Halestorm and they generally do rock but she did a song with Lindsay Sterling called shatter me. It's an amazing song and such a different style you can hear so much more of her voice.
