That is really a lame complaint. Use a different skin. Make your own. The functionality is what matters. I have the app on an ancient tablet. It's almost as easy to use as the real device. And it runs perfectly - it even acts like a 2nd calculator when using the Connectivity program so very easy to move programs between a real and a virtual calculator.

How do you use a different skin on the Android Prime app?

I agree that it would be better if they used the full screen for the calculator, but wasting money is your own fault, because there is a free version of it you could have tried first.
Anyway the real Prime is a very good calculator and much better user interface compared to the silly TI nspire (I have both and a couple of other).

Thanks! I was recently wondering what the differences were for pro v free versions. Writing programs or exchanging data would be great, but agree it's kinda pricey. Although, those are arguably "pro" features. You mentioned HP is a billion dollar company, but that seems to ignore that HP exited the calculator market, and this app is the work of Royal, where the hardware is the work of Marovia. Both companies licensee's, who pay HP for the right to use the logo & branding. One issue on the app, the software lagging is behind the hardware's firmware... Lacking Python and other more recent firmware updates. Do you feel the app is worth something like $10 ~ $15? Also, how much is it worth to get updated software? It's hard to justify the price for an old kit.

I actually didn't know about Marovia; thanks for clarifying that. I would have been fine paying $10 for the app inclusive of software updates.
Though, as long as the software is (almost entirely) bug free for the most part, software updates that introduce solely new features are not as important to me personally. For example, when HP added pinch to zoom in 2014, I was very thrilled by that feature, but I was also fine without it.
If you take away the bugs, the original Prime from 2013 (running on the 2013 firmware) does not leave to be desired at all when compared to the second gen Prime from 2018 (running on the 2021 firmware) in my opinion.

Just so you know, HP sold their calculator branch. It's now owned by Moravia. :(

They possibly manage with that annoying notch.

0:56 Well I got mine for free in 2023, so this gripe is out of date now. 1:50 Again, this isn't an issue on my app -- emulator takes up all the real estate on my phone.

As of 1/2024, the pro version is now $25. Lite version is still free. HP50G emulator is $5. I use i48, which is free. The screen on my real HP48GX is unreadable. Fully functioning, but whoever thought blue characters on a dark green screen was legible was an idiot. A mistake that HP corrected in the 50G (but they got rid of the double wide enter key, and put it in the wrong place, forcing the =,-,* and / keys to be shifted up. The 48 series gets a lot of praise, but I hate it.

Terrible. Hp prime is better than the Ti titanium. 20 dollar app for a 150 dollar calculator is a steal to me.
The only way an app isn't worth the price is if you can find better for the same price or cheaper.
What app is better than the hp prime for 20 dollars or less?

Emu48 is a free emulator that supports all legacy CAS HPs and lots of non CAS.
      Graph 89 is a $4 emulator that supports all 68000 series Texas Instruments (89, 89t, 92, voyage 200), TI 83 and 84 calculators.
labeling the HP Prime app as the best or worst app is subjective. However, when compared to the above emulators, it's objectively the worst deal for $20.
