I just got it. The power just seems average. However, it might be so that it can run longer on the battery. I tried a couple of aftermarket 2.0Ah batteries and the thing wouldn't power up at all with them. A genuine 2.0 battery worked, but I can see this vac is probably best mated with an XC battery for best performance.
I got one the other day, put a 4.0 battery in and it ran for a couple minutes and shut off. The Manuel said the battery had overheated. They want you to use a 6 amp battery. I took it back and got 18 volt
Do NOT buy the m12 they are awesome when they work but will not work for long. May not thermal shutdown right away but it will happen wish I went with m18 or just kept my Dewalt. Also the m12 will ruin small batteries if you try to keep using them as they tend to not go into thermal shutdown for some reason but the xc will shutdown non stop. Major design flaw. Edit: Milwaukee is replacing my m12 with a tested unit that supposed to work as well as swapping my batteries for new ones and they will be diagnosing everything hopefully will get an update on the cause of thermal shutdown. I will update post with results of replacement vacuum and whatever Milwaukee tells me. It's a great vacuum when it works I would recommend it had it not given me so many problems.
Aug 2022. I bought the m12 about a month ago. I have had 0 issues with it. I use a 6amp battery. I use it almost every day installing equipment, cleaning up dry wall dust from drilling holes, and stainless steel bits from drilling through it. I only use it a few minutes at a time, so it’s not running for very long.
If someone is looking for a really good wet/dry vacuum and is in the Bosh battery platform I would recommend the Bosch gas18v-3n vacuum. It puts in work with an 8amp battery
Not 100% true. The fuel will be able to use the increased power output of the high output and forge batteries. Guess that only matters if you have access to those batteries
Wasn’t trying to. The was a quick look - I will do a longer in-depth review once I get some run time on the new vacs. You can’t review something when it’s brand new.
There's actually a older 1 i have it the on off switch is on the middle close to where it opens and it also will take the generation of batteries before the m18
That sounds kind of like a Gen 1 0880-20 which is nominally an M18 model, but also has the connector for the early V18 lithium packs, which might also have been the same as the even earlier NiCd packs. Performance should be similar to the Gen 2 0880-20. I've heard the Gen 1 was slightly better in terms of suction and noise under some conditions, but the Gen 2 being self-contained was more important for me.
No, it’s definitely not a comparison video. Just a brief introduction to each one. I will do an in-depth longer video once I have some run time on the two newer vacuums.
Question, do all of them have to be used with M12 or M18 batteries? Or do any of them also have the option to connect to an outlet with a cord? I’ve been looking through the descriptions of most of them online and it’s not always clear whether they have the option. Otherwise, if you have to use it with a battery I might need a much stronger and longer lasting battery like the Fuel batteries. I wish they would all just be designed for both battery and corded use.
i have the older version of the m18 and got it whit was around 90$ but im looking to upgrade to the packout is it better or you think its be better to go m12 fuel
The packout has a brushless motor which probably means longer overall life, although there will be more complicated electronics available to fail. Brushless also guarantees longer battery life in any mode. Its speed select gives you option to extend battery life if you don't need as much suction. The Packout vac is quieter and less unpleasant to listen to while creating more suction than the old one. The 0880-20 M18 vacuum like you have definitely has an unpleasantly loud whine in my opinion. The Packout vac keeps its hose on the outside at all times, while still storing it inside the profile of the tool, however you'd still have to open the top to check / change battery or get attachments.
If your gonna upgrade CPO outlets currently is giving a free packout vacuum with purchase of two 5ah batteries with a charger. Comes to 298 for the vacuum two batteries and charger not a terrible deal.
Every case from Milwaukee should be packout compatible. I think having packout feet on the back and bottom would be perfect as well as making the lid capable of having a packout attached.
Can you show the m12 hanging i didnt know that was an option, on the fence on it or the m18, but i currently only have m12 so kinda want it, and of course tons of packout for my m12 collection
I own all three of these too. It looks like you dont use these at all. They all look new. The M12 vac is almost pointless. The largest capacity battery for it is the M12 6AH and the vacuum eats through them. The M18 vacuums with a 12.0 AH battery is the way to go.
When people on TH-cam say I been asked. Most of the time they haven’t. That was just something particular they had the ability to make a video on. To post up for the views ect. Saying you been asked just for some reason let’s you justify why you made it.
How is the power of the M12? I've been thinking about getting it for use at my shop
The M12 vacuum has 45 CFM. The M18 Packout vacuum is 50 CFM.

Interesting. I’ve used the 4.0 and 6.0 but haven’t had that issue.

Old version is 99$ rn at Home Depot they all do the same thing just one has a fuel symbol on it
Thank you bro
Not 100% true. The fuel will be able to use the increased power output of the high output and forge batteries. Guess that only matters if you have access to those batteries
Nope the brushed one has a way shorter runtime because it’s brushed
You really showed the performance of each one....

@@ToolPros so where is it? :D
@@ToolProsfill 3 buckets clear ones with water test all 3 same time re upload

I love my M18 its great for detailing plus it has more suction power than my 10 gallon shop vac.
I’d like to know which one works best and using them pros and cons. This isn’t a comparison video it’s a sizing them up video.
No, it’s definitely not a comparison video. Just a brief introduction to each one. I will do an in-depth longer video once I have some run time on the two newer vacuums.
@@ToolPros I'd really like to see that.
Just avoid the m12 nothing but problems hopefully they will fix it and release updated model soon.
Nice comparison. Thanks 👍

You deserve a masterforce shop vac
Need to have a packout m12
I have to say the non pack out m18 I’ve gone through three of them personally. So I’m trying the pack out vac now but I hate the regular m18 vacs.
Nice Comparison, Thanks Brent!!!!!
They have the basic one right now at Home Depot right now for $99 online.
is the m12 able to attach to your pack out too?
i have the older version of the m18 and got it whit was around 90$ but im looking to upgrade to the packout is it better or you think its be better to go m12 fuel
I have the old m18 and I'm wondering if it's worth it to buy the new packout one. What are the differences between those two?
The packout has a brushless motor which probably means longer overall life, although there will be more complicated electronics available to fail. First what team are you m12 or m18
Can you do power Comparing video?
Do any of these pick up small rocks
Why don't they at least put the pack out hooks on the bottom of the M12 vacuum. Any new vacuum for Milwaukee should have pack out hooks.
I agree why would they make the new M18 with pack out but the M12 with out
Every case from Milwaukee should be packout compatible. I think having packout feet on the back and bottom would be perfect as well as making the lid capable of having a packout attached.

I came here to ask this question too. I have a packout stack and the M12 vac. How exactly does that work?
Just got my m18
I have had 3 M18 shop vacs the old one die on me that last few months, about 2 years old, some get used alot some rarely.
Sweet thanks for the video
why didn't you compare it to the left one on size? why didn't you test the vacuum force?, to get a true representation you need to have these
Which one is the best bro?
Wait for the new one coming out in Q4
Which one?
The M12 should've been PackOut at least we got the mods to make it work
Which? How about HOW THEY WORK!
100% APPROVED. you can even buy the converter and charge it from you truck. Traditionally is buy it before TheReds discontinue it/ so hurry
Packout vacuum is the way to go. I have the M12 and it’s great however chews through batteries.
All three look like they have never been used.
Looks like they don’t see much used, they’re clean as new.
I own all three of these too. It looks like you dont use these at all. They all look new. The M12 vac is almost pointless. The largest capacity battery for it is the M12 6AH and the vacuum eats through them. The M18 vacuums with a 12.0 AH battery is the way to go.

I like the LOOK of the M12 better
wow i love how you gave us all the specs and details we would need to make a choice.....NOT
Can you put filter bags on the Gen 2 or just packout?
the first m18 one breaks all the time! The on off switch akways goes out!
The Whack Out system
Not how they work? Who gives a fuck that it's 2-4 cu in smaller? How does it SUCK...cuz ya know...its a vacuum
They all look like they just cam out of the box
Packout>
OG all the way, the packout hose storage sucks (prone to damage)
If you have M18 batts buy 18 if you have M12 batts buy 12
Why the hell would you need the m12 when you have those two?
Its BARELY any smaller. Not nearly enough to justify picking it up...
I have a tool addiction...
@@ToolPros
Do know there’s a handle on the smaller vac that you can grab? It’s bugging me how you slide your vac on the concrete. OCD here..
I have bought 2 of the M18 and they both spit working..I'm a Milwaukee tool guy but those are trash
Why would you need 3 vacuums?
Learned nothing
Is this guy so messy he needs 3 shop vacs?
Why do you need 3 vacs....that sucks 🤣
The m12 dies in 2 mins
I got the m12. Used it once and took it back. This is a pos

You said nothing useful
Are you just comparing the size?? Are you serious now??
Milwaukee is overpriced, big box chinese hype.
Dewalt is the best.
