    Cory blasts cardboard. You can read the dog's face. "What the hell? I'm not retrieving that!"

    Guys, thanks for putting real world results to paper. I have been looking for heavy load to use in my 20 gauge for geese and think I have found it. I will also switch my 12ga steel over as well

    This is a very cool and well thought out video. I love Boss Shotshell's products and was blown away by their performance last season. Never going back to steel.
    Also, love my DRC Life Sentence (delrin). Sounds great, and canadas from Nebraska to Appalachia to upstate New York have ate it up. Love that call.

    I shoot a stoeger m3500 with carlson cremators (Mid and Long range) but we have ducks and geese that we hunt simultaneously. Would recommend the 3/5 duo for that. Shots are anywhere from 25-40yd shots. Farthest shot I took and killed was probably 45/50 and of course it was a lovely and highly coveted merganser lol. I was using federal 3in #2

    I like the video, and I like the Boss shells. Responsible ranges and good shooting. Well done. However, a simple 2 3/4" load of 1 1/8 oz of steel #1's will kill all geese centered in the pattern at 42 yards. A 3" load of 1 1/4 oz of BB steel will kill farther with the right choke and shooter. USFW service instructional vid with Tom Roster shows this.

    Choke size? Maybe the most relevant factor

    No energy from steel shot at 40 yards? Have killed a pile of birds at 40 with steel shot.

    • @jvwg95rt98
      @jvwg95rt98 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed. Steel shot at 40 yards is no problem. I bought 10ga and 12ga Boss this year and it will knock birds down, but it doesn't live up to the hype.

  • @TheMrSupermoto
    @TheMrSupermoto 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Seems like overkill at these ranges. I think 2s, 1s or BBs in steel would have been just as effective and you wouldn’t risk ruining the birds with a bunch of shot through the breasts. I’ve shot my fair share of bismuth and tungsten but I use it to stretch the distance when the birds won’t cooperate.

      I haven't! We've shot plenty of turkeys w/ the Boss 20ga both Bismuth and Boss TOM. I need to pick up a 20ga that fits me first!

      Bismuth is heavier than steel. Speed of steel shot was increased to try and make it as lethal our old lead shot, which was much slower.

  • @mikerobinson6606
    @mikerobinson6606 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Steel shot has plenty of KE to cleanly take Honkers at 45 yards. The problem is most hunters are not good enough shots at that distance.
