Happy 2024 guys! Hope you all had a great holiday period and new year? Here's my first video for 2024, demoing a fantastic amp switcher from Bulgarian company, N-Audio. Cripes. When I win the lotto this is the first thing I'm getting along with every amp and cab of my dreams. So glad this exists even though the use case is completely unattainable for mortals.
Whatever is blinking and looking cool in your studio, I need one.
It's great with some more competition in this space! KHE does everything this does, FYI, except it can only do two cabs instead of three at the same time, plus it only supports a maximum of 4 possible cab slots, instead of 7 - but it can also be extended with their cab version if you need more cabs. That said, it's 1099CHF (excl shipping and VAT) which equates to almost €1400 with 25% VAT (still excl. shipping), whereas this is €1099 with VAT and shipping already included!

This is exactly what I've been after. Just about to order the 4x4 version as that is enough. Currently use a rack mixer which just isn't flexible enough

i use a De Lisle 20 in x 1 out into my UA OX. It also has a built in D.I. Out for re-amping purposes that i absolutely LOVE

Great video Tom. I actually recently picked up a KHE 8 x4 and love it. I also have the TAE running thru the KHE for global attenuation and FX loop. Set it up exactly as you described in your KHE video. I’m stoked. I also use it with my G2 based pedal board. Such a fun setup. Kinda want to try the AxeFX in there as well like you have done. Pretty sick.

Hi Sole, Tom explains the setup for his Axe FX III at 18:45, I am still not quite sure what he means, but he breaks it down for you...
As I understand, he's using all his attenuators' fx loops to connect the amps' loops to and then running that post cabinets in the Axe fx. In spdif to his interface. It's pretty complicated and the reason why I will stick to the Khe 4x4 fx.
i think i will simply get back to my very very simple Boss Gt100 with a Egnater Rebel30 head in 4CM giving me tones 4 days 👽

Ist great switcher..I bought smaller version 4x4...But still missing effect loop...If you are not using an attenuator like WTE..
The 4X4 FX-Loop will be ready soon! I will inform you personally when it is ready, so stay tuned :)

@tomquayleguitar Great demo Tom. I currently have 6 amps and 8 cabs and use a PS100 so this would solve my cable nightmare 😂 I didnt hear it mentioned, but is there any way to select multiple amps at once to run a stereo or wet dry wet setup?
Do any amp switchers have a built-in effects loop and attenuator? Or do you always have to pair it up with something like the boss tube expander?
I've been working on the FX-Loop section for both 8X7 and 4X4 switchers. It will be an extra unit powered by the MIDI out from the switcher, so no extra power cable needed. Hopefully, they will be ready within 2 months or less. The current N-audio switchers support that functionality with the latest firmware and hardware revision. You can get the switcher, and then the FX-loop unit.
A cool feature if possible - I'm far from an electronics engineer but- if a person could set the corresponding Ohm values for each amp and then separately for each cab on the other side and then if the values were incompatible they would not be able to work together and maybe the lights would flash and then you had the option to override if you so desired.
that would be very cool - no idea if it's possible though.
Actually, having an impedance mismatch is not a big deal :) The sound will be slightly different, but you can't harm your tube amp. It is a simple rule: do not crank the amp at max. Keep it 20-30% below its maximum, and you can play with impedance mismatch.

I actually ran out of i/o on my audio interfaces. All the loadboxes and synths took up too many channels! Hence using SPDIF for the Axe FX III. I need another ADAT expansion!!
Do you know if it is safe to disengage the attenuation with the attenuator still connected? I have a KHE and when I asked this question to them I was advised that I should unhook the wires of the attenuator to the unit if I disengage from the front panel. If it’s safe with this unit might be reason enough for me to switch as I don’t always want to run an attenuator.
It is completely safe! That's the reason why you can engage or disengage it from the front panel.

Would this switcher support a Stereo Rig? Ideally I’d like to run 2 amp heads as well as 1 or possibly 2 tube preamps (Ada Mp1 and TriAxis) and be able to switch between the 4 preamp stages and keep the 2 power amp stages powering 2 cabs at all times…and of course using Axe Fx effects both before the preamp stage and stereo effects after preamp stage before the 2 power amp stages…

Sounds great Tom. I’m not following how you’ve got the WAZA TAE tethered to the Ox box…? Could you elaborate a little more on that please? I’m looking to implement something just like this so I’d love to see more on the wiring side of things.
The OX isn't tethered to the TAE as such. Rather the TAE works as an attenuator for the whole system when the Power Att button is switched on on the 8x7. That means I can attenuate loud amps actually going into the OX or the Captor X for example, or use the TAE as an FX loop for the whole system or simply use the onboard TAE FX and EQ's for all the amps and cabs (inlcuding the OX etc). Think of the OX and Captor X in this setup as just alternative cabs, albeit virtual ones that can also be used with the TAE as an attenuator infront of them.
Hi Tom. How do you have your Ox connected. I’ve got the TAE running through the attenuator out on my switcher. I’m trying to hook up my Ox as a speaker out in the switcher. With the line outs to some monitors to hear the fx and cab sim. But I’m not getting any signal through it.

Why can’t you run multiple amps and cabs at the same time?
You can run up to 3 cabinets in parallel simultaneously. Running amplifiers in parallel is not a good idea. You can blow your amps, so nobody does it.
