- Despite tremendous ridicule, and significant emotional turmoil, Robert Pattinson has been able to carve out one of the most successful Hollywood careers of the last decade. He's been in a number of notable franchise films and plenty of indie projects. Let's dive into what makes him great, and how he got here.

I rediscovered Pattinson on the Lighthouse and now I’m willing to watch any movie he’s in.
He's just getting started. He's going to be one of the heavyweights as he gets older.
I agreee ❤
after seeing him in Tenet and Batman, i actually started to look at him differently than just the dude from twilight
Yeah. For me it was seeing Good Time - totally unexpected.
( + that's when I learned about the Safdie brothers.)
after seeing the batman and loving every aspect of it i went way more into my phase (that im still in 3 years later) of loving movies and straight after watching it binged his other performances and he is just such an incredible actor and already cemented his spot with the greats
good time, that's his best acting
@@ernestocaro9802 i actually caught the 2nd half of that movie last night. i only recognized it because of this video. that was crazy to see him in that role. like a totally different person
@@Bbfishman Its an excellent film, I would highly recommend you to watch the whole thing
Glad he’s doing better he’s a favorite actor of mine. he’s now engaged and has a daughter
After seeing him in Good Time he became one of my favorite actors. That performance was one of the best I’ve ever seen. He is massively underrated and under appreciated.
He blew my mind as the voice of the heron in the latest Miyazaki film. This video really gave me a new perspective on why he might take a role like that.
These videos are great keep it up :)
The Batman is easily top 3 movies for me because of his performance. Cool to see this retrospective on his career!
He reminds me of Anna Kendrick in some ways. He's very open about his feelings, no matter if they are good or bad. The only difference is that he isn't as confident as she is.
interesting, i would say they are very different personalities, just my impression
Watching the lighthouse opened my eyes to how awesome Robert is. And the fact that he chills with Death Grips.
thanks Renzy always compelling
I didnt expect my love of responsibile personal finance to popup here... 😂
The narrative that Pattinson was desperate to not be typecasted, that he hated working on Twilight, and that he purposely stayed away from the mainstream/franchises was all built on a false perception by the media. He had no fears of being typecasted and was enjoying working on films in between Twilight like Remember Me, Water for Elephants, and Cosmopolis. The part of the job he dislikes is the promotional tours and repetitive questions. When repeatedly asked if he was scared of being typecasted or being in another franchise, the media outlets would just assume that to be the case. You will never find footage of him actually saying yes to those questions. He has said over and over again that he just wants to work with directors he likes and on scripts he finds interesting (he is a fan of a lot French directors but they tend not to make English films). It's not a conscious decision to avoid the mainstream or franchises, he just doesn't have an interest in projects with characters and scripts he finds boring.
For a vid having an empathetic explanation of his work, the title doesn't seem at all to coincide with the positive perspective your presenting.
Actually, it was more of an ironic title, to emphasize Pattinson's ultimate subversion of the pretty-boy career path he was on...
This is how TH-cam works
That was to get you interested
Robert Pattinson has an interesting career, good choice Renzy
Robert Pattinson has become one of my go to actors in my watchlist besides Oscar Isaac, Jake Gyllenhaal, & Ryan Gosling.
What an excellent video!! He is one of the greatest and most remarkable actors today. In Rover, his acting was so heartbreaking and memorable. It's a shame that it didn't generate more popularity. I would encourage everyone to watch it and pay close attention. I cannot wait for his future projects.
I’m so happy that he was able to brake from that stander and make something of his career. From someone that was obsessed with twilight and now I can’t stand the movies . He deserved a chance to get out there and I’m glad people are see that
I was a Twilight fan and so, a Robert fan. At the beginning, it was just the Edward thing. But then i wanted to discover him elsewhere and watched "Remember me". His performance blew my mind. It was so good compared to Twilight. At that point i took distance from the saga and focused on his filmography. Since then, i always followed his projets and saw his evolution, whereas people mocked me for years and years because of Twilight. Even if i was explaining his career since, no one took it seriously. Until Batman. With Batman, all the bad opinion about him slowly disappeard : he was finally recognised as an actor, and a good one. I'm so happy to see him succeed after more than ten years of hard work. And i know that's just the beginning ❤️
Good Time and The Lighthouse also laid the ground work. Plus loved his little role in The King. His accent and voice when he says, "Tiny little cock..." Hilarious
To be fair. He's still a tall, good looking, white guy with a british accent. He'd be more than fine anywhere in the world--at almost any time. Regardless.
He is not just a pretty face but also an amazing actor ❤❤
Love the video, dude. When I saw Good Time, I was really surprised. Been a fan ever since.
Thanks so much Kevin! Likewise, Benny Safdie surprised me as well
Yeah, that was my ( + lots of people's) first exposure to the greatness of both of them... Cuz lord knows I hadn't recognized it before in Pattinson, lol.
But there it was - a POWERFUL fucking movie out of nowhere - and Pattinson himself demonstrated some seriously respectable insight, in suddenly and riskily taking that obscure role... with these brothers who'd made like, _one_ low budget film. (An awesome one, though, tbf.) Now, I'll watch _everything_ he's in... and _everything_ they make.
Highly rewatchable.
The switch for me was watching Good Time (by the Safdie Bros.) That made me more intrigued on the roles and projects he gets involved in and The Lighthouse blew my mind 🤯🤯🤯
I've been fan of him since 2010, he's an incredibly underrated actor in my honest opinion
Honest reaction*
@@nbhage2178 nope honest opinion
I had absolutely no idea He’s Batman! And in my opinion the best Batman… just sayin.
What an amazing transformation! Now I actually have an appreciation for his work and will look for his next move.
Colin Farrell is an absolute chameleon in that film. I can stare at 14:45 for a minute and still barely see him in that picture.
I really liked Robert in The King, that movie was so good.
Peak acting of an Englishman doing a french accent and a Frenchman doing an English one
He is one of the best actors of this generation for sure, after twilight i first saw him in lost city of z and thought he has evolved so much as an actor then lighthouse in 2019 moved me so much. I started following him and watched good time which was one of the best acting i have ever seen, in devil all the time in his 15 mins role he stole the whole movie.
I am not into his head but i am sure he could have follow much easier career stable path with big paychecks on his table but he chooses to work on his artcraft taking different, more challenging roles rather than becoming someone like next aston kutcher, seriously after twilight he was genuinely one of the most talked celebrity in entire world and i am not sure so many people at his place would have chooses the path which rob did and he proved his critics wrong in the process. The same indie projects got himself playing in one of the greatest directors Chris nolans movie tenet and one of the most iconic roles ever batman and he nailed it. I watch the boy and the heron just because of rob and was shocked at the credits knowing that he voiced heron nd old guy which was for sure the best dubbing performance in a long time.
And extremely hyped up and happy for rob to seeing him at lead role in one of the highly anticipated films in recent year MICKEY 17 with bong(parasite director).
Robert pattinson needs to star in hideo kojima game and i can guarantee that it will erase the twilight fame he's trying to forget and escape.
Excellent video. Thank you for capturing the emotion
It's crazy how Good Time is still severely overlooked by the mainstream
I'd never cared for Twilight and so I never really followed Pattinson's career, but last Halloween or so me and some friends decided to watch the lighthouse, and I can't think of another movie I've ever watched with other people that I would call art.
No one could have told me when the Twilight series was at its peak that Robert Pattinson would be my favorite Batman but here we are lol
I’ve thought him very talented from the beginning. His music. I love it. As an actor I’ve seen, I think, everything he has been in and he is an excellent actor and I can back that up with receipts. I hope he can see that himself. As for the fans…I wouldn’t be able to do it. I’m glad he was, THAT is impressive. I’d move to Estonia or something.
Great video. But I don't understand the title, at first glance it sounds like a jab at him, but I know it's not. Is it a reference to something? English is not my first language. I think I was "lucky" to not watch any of his earlier roles, so by the time he was getting better roles I was able to enjoy his acting without any preconceptions.
I am English-first, and I don't get it either. Clickbait title, at least somewhat if not entirely. Good video either way, and hey, the clickbait title worked, because a random actor I already know plenty about from other similar videos is not gonna get me to click and here I am watching this video.
Actually, in his defense, it was more of an ironic title, to emphasize Pattinson's ultimate subversion of that pretty-boy path he was on. 👍
I thought so too. Hate the title. No clickbait. I subscribe to small channels to avoid this
Video creator knows he clickbaiting people even worse he pretends he's not
@@maleman6344 clearly it worked lol
Still remember I laugh so loud when I heard "You're living in a twilight world" in Tenet.
i re-disovered him through "the lost city of z" & thought uh maybe we misjudged him,he 's going to be big & then goodtimes came out & people noticed his change
Remember Me absolutely killed me when I saw it as a teenager.
Good Time is one of the most insanely engaging and miserable train wrecks I’ve ever seen. Absolutely brilliant movie, and I knew he would kill it as Batman after seeing Good Time. So glad I was right ❤️
very nice video. i always wondered what life is like for actors that were skyrocketed into superstardom. does the fame get unbearable? does it it feel tediously annoying that almost everyone knows you for that one role you played and the other roles you played barley get acknowledged? i'd say that he was able to deviate from his role as edward, quite well with the batman movie, but no matter what he does, no matter how good his other movies are, his most well known role will always be as edward... and he doesn't even like edward, even for reasons outside of what he had to deal with because of twilight.
Seeing this video's title, I pushed play with an initial two-part goal: 1. Take note of every anticipated instance that might be used as evidence in support of said title, "Robert Pattinson is not a serious actor"; 2. Compose a response comment systematically tearing each example apart. However, this wasn't meant to be, as the title was clickbait, which the contents acted as an expectation-subverting reversal of. While I was expecting to find the whining nonsensical dribbling of someone unable to recognize great performances, what I found was a well-produced video essay with insightful commentary.
excellent job mate
great video man.
Can never miss a Renzy vid
lol the question about the rover, are you worried? hes gotta be thinking no this is exactly what I want, the opposite, not even a love interest , dirty teeth, grit hahah awesome
Never realized he was in Harry Potter
He is a great actor
Fairly good summary, but Pattinson left franchise filmmaking in 2011 when Cronenberg cast him in Cosmopolis and he got good reviews for his performance even tho the film wasn't a hit. Starting with that film, he hasn't made a film with a director who didn't have total creative freedom and final cut rights, and that includes Tenet and The Batman. He's essentially making independent films that WB is distributing. His last time at Cannes in 2018, he said he would never make another film just for the paycheck, and that he would only work with directors who had total control of their films. Very few actors have ever done this. It takes guts and most of them like the money too much.
If you haven't seen him in "The rover" you should
What a video man outstanding story telling just a matter of time till you blow the fuck up!
Good Time is one of my favorite movies
When I heard his attitude toward Twilight and seeing how he was a big fan and contributer to Death Grips, I shifted my perspective away from thinking he was just a vapid dude. The lighthouse and Batman just cemented he's actually interesting and talented.
Great video!
In 2010 i was 18 and thought he was a goofball… by 2020 at 28 and now in 2024 at 32 I absolutely respect, adore, admire, have an appreciation for, and want to see him continue to succeed…. My point is it’s amazing when you grow up watching someone become successful but a laughing stock… then both get older and I’m 100% sure he would(could) laugh at how pathetic my life is compared to what he has now achieved… god, even in 2010 late teens patience was waining. Nowadays you’re absolutely F C K D if your not a instant hit. Attention span? Gone. Herd mentality? Yip
The spotlight effect and main character syndrome at an ALL TIME HIGH??? Yes. Today’s world absolutely sucks. Im so glad I had the 90s and 00s even up until 2017. Since 2020 world has gone MAD.
7:33 Those teeth 😆
nice video
Bro did one of the coldest turn arounds of all time.
The few movies I’ve seen him in he doesn’t have a whole lot of dialogue. So it’s hard to judge if I think how good an actor he is🤷🏻♀️(never saw twilight)
honestly as a robert pattinson fan its like why would i harass him just to get a photo?? as a true fan you wouldnt assault them
You can always retire, put the quids in the bank and live off the interests
Or
You xan keep a low profile, and work in some theater off Londinium 😊
Or London off theater 😊
"why are they still going to highschool when theyre 100 years old" 🤣 hes such a shit disturber. just gotta get this man oscars and famous and legendary enough that he can say whatever the fuck he wants in interviews and they cant stop him from getting roles
Rob is the one of the best actor ❤
if someone /media/etc anyone follows you even when you want to take a piss in your own home,it gets to anyone ,i don't blame him/anyone to react
This guy has a perfect punch-me face.
12:05 I want to know what the joke was.. looks like it was a real hoot
I feel bad for the guy
Renzy easts corn the long way.
