You're absolutely right! The bible is right, somebody's wrong somewhere. What the LGBT community need to realize is that there's a difference between being judgmental and maintaining God standards. God standards is apart of the gospel, and He expects for us to spread in season and out. I love you but will I ever embrace it? Absolutely not! Today, pastor's are rather shaken and wanting to not preach this in the pulpit because they're worried about loosing people in their congregation. The main point of any discussion about the body of Christ and not the church building. Should uphold the written word. So before you speak as a believer the focus should always be scripture. I am gay and have struggled in my sexuality because of the biblical teaching I understood myself. The truth should be what covers any issue. So the feeling in a discussion of this nature. I'm really awed at the number of people who don't take a serious look at self before judging or condemning other people for the way they were born. If those in the black community would bother to take a serious look the contents of the Bible and learn the actual history, some would rethink the hate they spew at others.

The black church started changing for the worst beginning in the 1970's. The older generation (those born in the late 1890's and early 1900's) were dying off! Standards were high, we had race pride! The church was full of gays both known and many closeted. I can't write a book here on TH-cam but maybe I should start my own podcast. With that said, there was a certain amount of respect for those known to be different. Older black women would refer to you as "that's my boy". They were expressing their love for you. The hate I see today was not there in better black communities. Those bringing up the bible every few seconds would have been put in their place. We have lost everything as decent black folks.

Yes gays need love. Here's some love for all you gays b/c as a straight believer, I love you. But I love you enough to tell you the truth to your face for your own good. But what is love according to the Bible? Let me tell you. Read 1 ohn 5:3 which says, "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous." This is how we show you love. Love is not just telling you what you wanna hear. One of the laws and commandments of God is that we do not lay with same sex. It is abomination. Me telling you that, is not hate. It is actually love b/c I care enough to tell you the truth so you may have eternal life. If you continue in a lifestyle that is abomination, you place yourself in eternal danger. You must do as acts 2:38 says and repent and be baptized in the name of Christ. Then you must follow the commandments and laws of God. Which means you must turn from that lifestyle and follow what God says. Not what you flesh says or what man says. This, my family, is the language of love and respect. People who care for you won't just give you what you wanna hear, they will tell you the truth for your own good. I think what some people are looking for is for people to tell them that it's ok and according to the Bible, it is NOT ok at all. Worshipping God includes LIFE choices. Life choices God called us to obey. As a same gender loving man and a Christian I don't condone sexual activity between same sexes men with men and women with women. Loving a man is not synonymous with sex. I can't reconcile that with scripture. If I go out with a woman, it's got to be the real thing breast, vagina, and XX chromosomes. funny how people are looking for peoples opinion or stance on homosexuality and the church, like if that matters...God says it's a sin, what matters the opinion of others??? His word can't be bended, trampled with, or changed. Accept it, it is what it is. Now if you're gay and you don't have any convictions on the matter when you go to church then it's just another social gathering to you. When you accept Jesus the first thing you should feel is conviction which should then lead to repentance. The whole message of the gospel is repentance. I hadn't looked at it that way, how the scripture in the same chapter lists other things considered abominations but those are overlooked. I'm quite sure there was not a heterosexual man in this room. With that being said, their opinion doesn't matter. God's does, and God has already passed judgement. It's the churches responsibility to affirm God's word, not people's lifestyles.

The bigger conversation that affects the church is divorce and remarriage. There are tooooo many christians that are committing adultery because they have remarried unbiblically.
Homosexuality is a sin, so are a lot of other things. Everybody has temptations and flesh they have to overcome. We have to preach what the bible says and call sin sin. And if you find yourself in sin reach out to God to get delivered. Everybody gets cut sometimes because we are called to holiness. We all need forgiveness, mercy, and grace to overcome sin. We can address sin and not tear down at the same time. I cannot claim to love those with same sex attraction and not tell them it is a sin to act on that. I would be leading them to Hell and that would not be love. I never struggle in that area but I have struggled in other areas, but I never excused it and called it not sin. Sometimes you have to hear things you don't want to hear, so you can be delivered from that sin. At the same time in addressing it address other sins as well. 1 cor. 6:9-11 Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,[c] 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. To have an intelligent conversation is one thing but to have a conversation about the word of God is very different. Why? Because these brothers are talking from their opinions. There’s no scriptures to back up anything that they are saying. God’s word is the final authority in our lives. These brothers don’t actually preach word they preach what’s going to keep people coming back to their church. Joel Olsteen is not the only one that preach, if that’s what you want to call it, feel good messages. Nothing these brothers said lined up with scriptures, nothing. And that’s the problem with a lot of these churches and it’s leader, they preach opinions, what they think and their experiences. God is not interested in how we feel but rather, our obedience to His word and having a relationship with Him. These brothers have twisted the word so that not just homosexuals can be comfortable in their church’s but the pedophile, rapist, liar, whoremonger, adulterous people, persons that indulge in premarital sex, lovers of themselves…….this list of sins go on and on. There are plenty of LGBTQ in the "Black church" but there are zero LGBTQ in God's Church. How so? The only way to become part of God's Church is through Acts 2:38. Acts 2:38 requires "repentance" and water baptism. Repentance requires "turning away from one's wicked ways" (see 2 Chronicles 7:14). One cannot receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost without first having his sins forgiven. One can't have his sins forgiven without water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (see Acts 2:38) AND "repentance". One can't receive the gift of the Holy Ghost without water baptism and repentance. One is not a member of Christ's Church unless he is born again of water and of the Spirit (see John 3:5). So, no matter how well one sings, plays an instrument, or affiliates with a so-called religious organization, minus the above, he's just a spectator on the outside looking in.
Response to Monique Cambero, see below -- We are called to follow Jesus, to imitate His life, as our Christian Commission is the 4th Commandment, and mocking it leads to everything wrong in the world. There is nothing in the Bible that speaks to homosexuals per se, or ones in loving relationships, as the ancients had limited understanding of homosexuality and sexuality in general -- including its scientific foundation. The original Biblical "men sleeping with men" (MSWM), and related verses, are largely there, and interpreted, incorporating a grave misunderstanding of original intent. Reading the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) and New Testament in Ancient Biblical Hebrew, Classical Aramaic and, in the first translations of them, into Ancient Greek, the original languages, is paramount. But for ignorance, heterosexual sensibility, Christian arrogance and/or vanity, most theologians, ministers and layman skip over the truth. Reading those scriptures in a literal manner is a vice because what's critically important about them is their CONTEXT, without which we "tell the truth while telling lies" (my quote). For knowing something about the history of sexuality, especially in the Ancient Near East and Greece and The Roman World, the areas in which the anthology of Biblical stories take place, we'd understand that the Ancient Greek practice of adolescent male & adult heterosexual male love, pederasty, was popular in sport, military and upper class cultures, for example, while freeborn men in the vast Roman World often engaged in anal intercourse with lower rank boys and men. And by law freeborn men could be put to death for being the receiver/bottom in such situations. As important, the practice of homosexuality within cults was popular, including in the biblically-referenced "cult of temple prostitution." Other behaviors speak of "man's inhumanity to man," which included sexually abusing the poor, strangers and neighbors, and men vanquished by war, street fights and other conflict. Etc. Those scriptures reference the behavior of heterosexual men. For understanding them, consider there's often a distinction with a difference between homosexuality & homosexual, and heterosexuality & heterosexual, each one. For instance, homosexuals often have children the old-fashioned way, and imprisoned heterosexuals often sexually engage their gender. Women played a tangential role why many men engaged in homosexual activity. Ones in antiquity thought twice before sexually engaging husbands and boyfriends, as it could lead to pregnancy, which put them, and their babies, in mortal danger. Unlike today with advances in maternal/fetal medicine, and nutrition, women often died during pregnancy, while giving birth, or shortly thereafter. Likewise their babies often died in the womb, during birth, shortly thereafter, or before reaching puberty. For the consequences, many women thought hard before agreeing to sexual intercourse. To compensate many men engaged their gender, perpetrated rape against them, frequented male prostitutes, etc. Heterosexual rape, prostitution and orgies occurred as well. The prophets believed if men were sexually engaging their gender they'd put the human race in peril of extinction. Also women are nowhere in the Bible as it relates to homosexuality/lesbianism. When you see such verses, men put them there, and would have one believe doing so was for inspiration from God; some had political agendas. Also there are mistakes in translation, or terms which had different meanings in another culture were used, while sometimes no word existed, so nomenclature inconsistent with original intent was used. For instance, the (loaded) Old English term "abomination" is not in those original Biblical documents. The Ancient Biblical Hebrew terms "sheketz" and "tovah," meaning "taboo," are used (which one depends on context). There were many "taboos," including male homosexuality, men sleeping with menstruating women, wearing clothing of mixed fabric, fornication, eating shellfish, witchcraft, etc., and all were to be avoided as a means for distinguishing the Ancient Israelites from the numerous religious sects prevalent during those times. The things/behaviors the churches are now tolerating. No wonder the churches are in disarray. Is anyone reading the Bible. It is ignorant when people take maybe one scripture and quote it, instead of researching why things are written in that time frame, to study the scripture is to do deep research on certain scriptures and also the translations. You will discover a lot of the church lack knowledge of the truth, most just accept what they hear, what they have always been taught, and reading scriptures in their flesh. PILAROZ DEVINE-Let me help you. First give me chapter and verse for the things you are saying are in the Bible. Just b/c slavery is in the Bible doesn't mean that anyone should be 'running to be slaves'. No where in the Bible does it state that people should all run and sign up to be slaves. So that takes care of that point you asked about. Secondly, you asked about adultery and that one should be stoned. This is out of the first covenant with God. Back in that time, when someone did certain things, they were put to death. Yes. However, after Christ came and died for all sin and became the living sacrifice for us all the sacrificial law was done away with. In other words, now when people commit adultery, we are not to stone them to death. They have grace from that immediate judgement now due To Christ's sacrifice of His life for us. Now when they do that sin, they must repent. See? So that answers your second question. Now to ask you some questions? Are you a believer? Do you believe the Bible is the Word of God? Are you living in or advocating for homosexuality? Do you know it is an abomination to God?
Purpose of the pulpit is to preach, teacher and rebuke all sin. Especially in the temple ( church buileding) of God. Remember the church is the body Christ - all people who accept Christ's gift of salvation and follow Christ's teaching. And the church is a build used for public Christian worship.

The black church started changing for the worst beginning in the 1970's. The older generation (those born in the late 1890's and early 1900's) were dying off! Standards were high, we had race pride! The church was full of gays both known and many closeted. I can't write a book here on TH-cam but maybe I should start my own podcast. With that said, there was a certain amount of respect for those known to be different. Older black women would refer to you as "that's my boy". They were expressing their love for you. The hate I see today was not there in better black communities. Those bringing up the bible every few seconds would have been put in their place. We have lost everything as decent black folks.

As a same gender loving man and a Christian I don't condone sexual activity between same sexes men with men and women with women. Loving a man is not synonymous with sex. funny how people are looking for peoples opinion or stance on homosexuality and the church, like if that matters...God says it's a sin, what matters the opinion of others??? His word can't be bended, trampled with, or changed. Accept it, it is what it is. Now if you're gay and you don't have any convictions on the matter when you go to church then it's just another social gathering to you. Homosexuality is a sin, so are a lot of other things. Everybody has temptations and flesh they have to overcome. We have to preach what the bible says and call sin sin. And if you find yourself in sin reach out to God to get delivered. Everybody gets cut sometimes because we are called to holiness. We all need forgiveness, mercy, and grace to overcome sin. We can address sin and not tear down at the same time. I cannot claim to love those with same sex attraction and not tell them it is a sin to act on that. I would be leading them to Hell and that would not be love. I never struggle in that area but I have struggled in other areas, but I never excused it and called it not sin. Sometimes you have to hear things you don't want to hear, so you can be delivered from that sin. At the same time in addressing it address other sins as well.

To have an intelligent conversation is one thing but to have a conversation about the word of God is very different. Why? Because these brothers are talking from their opinions. There’s no scriptures to back up anything that they are saying. God’s word is the final authority in our lives. Joel Olsteen is not the only one that preach, if that’s what you want to call it, feel good messages. Nothing these brothers said lined up with scriptures, nothing. And that’s the problem with a lot of these churches and it’s leader, they preach opinions, what they think and their experiences. God is not interested in how we feel but rather, our obedience to His word and having a relationship with Him. There are plenty of LGBTQ in the "Black church" but there are zero LGBTQ in God's Church. How so? The only way to become part of God's Church is through Acts 2:38. Acts 2:38 requires "repentance" and water baptism. Repentance requires "turning away from one's wicked ways" (see 2 Chronicles 7:14). One cannot receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost without first having his sins forgiven. One can't have his sins forgiven without water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (see Acts 2:38) AND "repentance". One can't receive the gift of the Holy Ghost without water baptism and repentance. One is not a member of Christ's Church unless he is born again of water and of the Spirit (see John 3:5).
So, no matter how well one sings, plays an instrument, or affiliates with a so-called religious organization, minus the above, he's just a spectator on the outside looking in.

Response to Monique Cambero, see below -- We are called to follow Jesus, to imitate His life, as our Christian Commission is the 4th Commandment, and mocking it leads to everything wrong in the world.
There is nothing in the Bible that speaks to homosexuals per se, or ones in loving relationships, as the ancients had limited understanding of homosexuality and sexuality in general -- including its scientific foundation.
The original Biblical "men sleeping with men" (MSWM), and related verses, are largely there, and interpreted, incorporating a grave misunderstanding of original intent. Reading the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) and New Testament in Ancient Biblical Hebrew, Classical Aramaic and, in the first translations of them, into Ancient Greek, the original languages,
is paramount. But for ignorance, heterosexual sensibility, Christian arrogance and/or vanity, most theologians, ministers and layman skip over the truth. Reading those scriptures in a literal manner is a vice because what's critically important about them is their CONTEXT, without which we "tell the truth while telling lies" (my quote).
For knowing something about the history of sexuality, especially in the Ancient Near East and Greece and The Roman World, the areas in which the anthology of Biblical stories take place, we'd understand that the Ancient Greek practice of adolescent male & adult heterosexual male love, pederasty, was popular in sport, military and upper class cultures, for example, while freeborn men in the vast Roman World often engaged in anal intercourse with lower rank boys and men. And by law freeborn men could be put to death for being the receiver/bottom in such situations.
As important, the practice of homosexuality within cults was popular, including in the biblically-referenced "cult of temple prostitution." Other behaviors speak of "man's inhumanity to man," which included sexually abusing the poor, strangers and neighbors, and men vanquished by war, street fights and other conflict. Etc.
Those scriptures reference the behavior of heterosexual men.
For understanding them, consider there's often a distinction with a difference between homosexuality & homosexual, and heterosexuality & heterosexual, each one. For instance, homosexuals often have children the old-fashioned way, and imprisoned heterosexuals often sexually engage their gender.
Women played a tangential role why many men engaged in homosexual activity. Ones in antiquity thought twice before sexually engaging husbands and boyfriends, as it could lead to pregnancy, which put them, and their babies, in mortal danger. Unlike today with advances in maternal/fetal medicine, and nutrition, women often died during pregnancy, while giving birth, or shortly thereafter. Likewise their babies often died in the womb, during birth, shortly thereafter, or before reaching puberty.
For the consequences, many women thought hard before agreeing to sexual intercourse. To compensate many men engaged their gender, perpetrated rape against them, frequented male prostitutes, etc. Heterosexual rape, prostitution and orgies occurred as well.
The prophets believed if men were sexually engaging their gender they'd put the human race in peril of extinction.
Also women are nowhere in the Bible as it relates to homosexuality/lesbianism. When you see such verses, men put them there, and would have one believe doing so was for inspiration from God; some had political agendas.
Also there are mistakes in translation, or terms which had different meanings in another culture were used, while sometimes no word existed, so nomenclature inconsistent with original intent was used. For instance, the (loaded) Old English term "abomination" is not in those original Biblical documents. The Ancient Biblical Hebrew terms "sheketz" and "tovah," meaning "taboo," are used (which one depends on context). There were many "taboos," including male homosexuality, men sleeping with menstruating women, wearing clothing of mixed fabric, fornication, eating shellfish, witchcraft, etc., and all were to be avoided as a means for distinguishing the Ancient Israelites from the numerous religious sects prevalent during those times.

The things/behaviors the churches are now tolerating. No wonder the churches are in disarray. Is anyone reading the Bible. Pastors should be able to speak out about and on sexual immorality and still denounce the act. It totally goes against scripture. I can affirm people as individuals and as human beings and love them like Christ loves everyone in spite of what and who they are but you all can’t ask people, to disbelieve the Bible and what the scriptures say about homosexuality. Read the Bible people. You all saying the Bible is a lie and what’s written in it is a lie?

This is a very good conversation that needed to be had. More talk on this subject needs to be seen for people to see that strong black christian men are not afraid to give their view on this subject. Black men in a whole don't talk about gay issues in fear of being labeled as gay themselves. This interview was and is very much needed

It is ignorant when people take maybe one scripture and quote it, instead of researching why things are written in that time frame, to study the scripture is to do deep research on certain scriptures and also the translations. You will discover a lot of the church lack knowledge of the truth, most just accept what they hear, what they have always been taught, and reading scriptures in their flesh. Walking in love will give you insight, for God looks upon the heart, man has and always will judge externally, outward appearance.

What did God say...He that hath no Sin set the stone down...Didn't they all put there stones down. How do we as Christians expect to change gay people lives when they walk in the door WOUNDED AND ALREADY IN DESPAIR,..Aren't we supposed to walk with our brothers and sisters. If you were truly anointed this goes all of you making comments then with your anointing you would draw homosexuals close to you, tell and show them the word so you must be doing something wrong if you are pushing away then drawing sinners in.Come on church we can do better than this???

Interesting that Jesus had a problem with people making profits through religion but never said anything against Homosexuality. Its seems likely he would have more issue with wealthy pastors that wear fancy watches, wear jordans and ride in private jets than with gay people.

Hey wait a minute....doesn't the Bible say that it's legal and blessed by GOD for slavery to exist? Why aren't we as black people that say we believe in the whole Bible aren't running to be slaves?? The Bible says that if you're married and once were divorced or have a living spouse...you should be stoned to death.....Are we advocating that an adulterous woman should be stone to death? PILAROZ DEVINE-Let me help you. First give me chapter and verse for the things you are saying are in the Bible. Just b/c slavery is in the Bible doesn't mean that anyone should be 'running to be slaves'. No where in the Bible does it state that people should all run and sign up to be slaves. So that takes care of that point you asked about. Secondly, you asked about adultery and that one should be stoned. This is out of the first covenant with God. Back in that time, when someone did certain things, they were put to death. Yes. However, after Christ came and died for all sin and became the living sacrifice for us all the sacrificial law was done away with. In other words, now when people commit adultery, we are not to stone them to death. They have grace from that immediate judgement now due To Christ's sacrifice of His life for us. Now when they do that sin, they must repent. See? So that answers your second question. Now to ask you some questions? Are you a believer? Do you believe the Bible is the Word of God? Are you living in or advocating for homosexuality? Do you know it is an abomination to God?
It has nothing to do with love but lust
Purpose of the pulpit is to preach, teacher and rebuke all sin. Especially in the temple ( church buileding) of God. Remember the church is the body Christ - all people who accept Christ's gift of salvation and follow Christ's teaching. And the church is a build used for public Christian worship.

where do i begin? The hatred here is certainly evident against a people that cannot be defined as normal. The dependence of this hatred is mostly stemmed from the scriptures that oppose same sex relationships or love. I just can't help but to think... How are millions of individuals choosing to live a homosexual lifestyle? Choosing to be ridiculed, to be murdered, to be outcasts, even by the church that is supposed to love everybody. And it seems the black church hates the most. The same people (church folk) that crucified Christ, hated him for no reason. You preach the bible, you read the scriptures, but you are lost. I think GOD is supreme and he don't need your help with nothing. All that is required of you is to LOVE one another. You ain't even seen GOD and you supposedly love him, but you hate your brother who is right here with you. I laugh at your ignorance. We wrestle not with things of the flesh (behaviors), but against spiritual wickedness in high places (homosexuality). And how do we deal with spiritual warfare?? When Peter was closing his sermon in Acts 2:38 , he said to the church, REPENT AND BE BAPTIZED EVERY ONE OF YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS, AND YE SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST. When ever we reject the Holy Spirit, and refuse to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we blaspheme the Holy Spirit. We are not to play with God, neither God's people. Amen.

The Black Church....It should be Gays in Church....The majority of the Black community don't share the same view about religious beliefs and the word of GOD...
Nobody is standing on the truth of scripture. The whole panel is talking around the subject just talking in circles. Like duh we need honor the dignity of all people that’s the 2nd greatest commandment Love you neighbor as you love yourself etc but that’s develop a relationship to be able to lovingly disciple and push our brothers and sisters in Christ towards the will of God in our areas of our lives. All sin is equal whether a person is in homosexuality or participating in pre marital sex, drunkenness, etc. I believe the church has done a bad job of being consistent with the way God created the life of those that are in relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. Once again the church has to do a better job of preaching/teaching towards consistent biblical teaching on all things that God deems holy and acceptable in his sight.

Doesn't the bible say "So as a man thinketh, so is he" what's the difference between a down low gay, a man whose with his wife but looks at other men with gay desires, or someone whose open with it?
