The Most Emotional Decider | Kyren Wilson vs Anthony McGill | 2020 World Championship - SF

  • This is one of the greatest ever deciding frames and one of the most dramatic and emotionally charged games you have ever seen. Several unusual situations and numerous twists occur throughout the game, in which the actual duration is about 1 hour and the total points scored is close to the historical record.
This deciding frame brings together what snooker fans love: good performance and great shots, significant breaks, intense tactical play, turnarounds and a lot of drama despite not having an audience, not to mention the importance of the event and the stakes: playing the world final for the first time in their careers plus at least an additional £100,000 in prize money.
The statistics shown in the video correspond to the date of the match.
Cesar Muroya created a unique editing technique to extract the essence of the game without losing the drama involved. Contextual information is also an innovation appreciated by viewers.
This format is not intended to substitute the full version but make snooker more accessible to new fans. The fluency and atmosphere of the game stay in a shorter length video, allowing even experienced fans to enjoy snooker at any time.

I remember watching this at work during a quiet period at the end of the day, as it was going on I was telling people "this frame is incredible", and then by the end there were 4 of us gathered round my monitor watching at the dramatic conclusion. Sport at its very best.

YOU, Rangda, are what sport is all about!!! I'm certain you were very tired after a long day's work, yet you still stuck with this incredible match. Where do you get the energy??? from an old man who misses such energy!

Once again, a delicate video discreetly edited. This frame needed someone like you to deliver it just the way it deserved. What a semifinal. You can see Kyren being sincerely devestated the way things turned out. Really emotional. What great figures these players are! This is what all sports should be like.

Easily the most enthralling ending to a snooker match I've ever witnessed. The heartbreak for not only McGill but for Kyren, only adds to the drama. I'll be telling future generations to watch this frame, not only for the importance of it but to show how the temperament and mental strength of a snooker player wins matches and the heart of the fans. Massive kudos for both the players for giving us one hell of a ride.

Kyren had some bad luck on the ball in the side when it looked like it was in. Kyren did miss a few very makeable shots tho specially that red ball in the side where he let position detract him from the shot.

What an amazing frame of snooker. I actually thought Anthony McGill played the better snooker through the whole frame and still lost! Found a new respect for Wilson too after seeing this. Didn't think too much of him prior to watching this but can see he's a decent person after the fluke on the green to feel so bad. Well done to both players. Maybe that semi was better than the final last year!

Heartbreaking? He was 20 points behind, clearly not favourite to win the frame and says he had something stolen from him? He needs to get over himself. He would have done even worse against Ronnie in the final than Kyren did.

A TRULY EPIC & HEARTBREAKING CONCLUSION ! 21:20 Kyren Wilson, like any gentleman was visibly upset, and he didn't want to win the deciding frame due to a fluke shot. Anthony McGill gave it his all, but we can't deny that luck also plays a role in the game of snooker. Both of them are very good players.

Rewatching this again. Although I know the outcome, I'm still as shocked and stressed as the first time I saw it. Imagine if an audience was present; there would definitively have been at least of instance of cardiac arrest from the amount of tension.
Despite not winning, neither Kyren nor McGill, they truly won our hearts and this frame will go on to define their legacy. It will be remembered as much as Ronnie's 7th title 50 years from now. A rare classic.

This video has been meticulously edited, doing justice to the significance of the moment. Kyren's genuine devastation is palpable, adding an emotional layer to this exceptional semifinal. Without a doubt, it stands as one of the most riveting conclusions to a snooker match I've ever had the privilege of witnessing. The heartbreak experienced by both McGill and Kyren only intensifies the drama, highlighting the undeniable importance of a snooker player's temperament and mental fortitude in clinching victories and capturing the hearts of fans. Ever since I saw Wilson I saw a young kid with all the skills as the rest but he brought with him a hunger an then he became my favorite player . Obviously I love me some osulivan but in retrospect watching that even younger kid a 16 year old Hendry just throwing great players aside like they were nothing and his first championship at like 4am with me at 5 an her at 70 screaming at the TV, we bonded a lot over it even tho we never really talked about it , her passion for snooker sparked mine , was constant 40 to 48 break for years then my nan died an I pulled away from snooker was easy cos I was in the army but I had a dream am she shook her head , I hope it was because she wanted me to play my best break was 62 and that was after a few more years but I certainly mastered the middle of the road game, if my mum an dad had had tge same faith i could have been at least semi pro just for me an my nan to enjoy

This was crazy. One thing i see though is that even though wilson had a narrower angle when attempting to pot that red in the jaws of the middle pocket he had the green pockets jaws in the way of that natural angle. He hit further away from the pocket to avoid the jaw and used some side on the cue ball to make that angle but probably overcompensated
Edit: the shot might be on without side spin but he definitely was scared of the jaws and tried the way i described. I think there is more room for error playing it over two cusshions rather than one cushion so that might also be a something to think about.

Definetely the most deserving 4 players were in the semis this year...not sure Kyren 'deserved' the win here but it was edgy and both had their chances, more about mistakes and luck than about skill - but truly a game to watch, often it goes like that. i hope McGill will also rise to the top, he too is a proper snooker-player. But in the end, i'm pretty sure Kyren actually did better in the final than McGill wouldve done against the destined winner, Ronnie.
Great video, really well edited, and i finally can recognize Studd! Great stuff, Cesar! And i agree, Kyren's turn will come.

Sorry to say the obvious, but so wonderful to see how the worst result of any shot still leaves a possible - however unlikely - escape. Always a way! Delicious. J.

The two flukes made the difference at the end. Great match from both .... but one has to win.

Haven seen this one a few times. Amazing in all respects. Still, I wonder why Anthony decided potting the brown, as with more colors on the table, the chance of a snooker is greater. His chances deminished even further when he decided to pot the blue. I know of only one match , where King outtricked Hawkins with the black shy of the pocket, and forcing Barry to commit a faul.
