I'm watching while working on my 15th bed-size quilt of 2024 (also made several lap quilts). Not sure I'll get the quilting done by the end of the year, but it's more than I thought I could get done. I'm retired but full-time caregiver for my disabled daughter, who lives with me. Quilting helps keep me positively focused and I can work on it as time is available in between other priorities. You also help keep me positively focused. Thank you!
Thank You! I appreciate the closer look into your life! I too am solar and heat powered. I hate cold - but I live in PA. That's where the man I love has a farm. And your hair is awesome!! PS I love what you said about loving your child! More people need to understand that 💜.
"Cheap and cheerful" - I like that. I'll have to try some. Texas Heat is nothing like Georgia Heat. We were visiting a few years ago and everyone was talking about how hot it was, and we were quite comfortable because there was just about zero humidity!
I love watching you. You are so kind & you make me smile 😊 I also love your ending to each video. I'm 72 & just started quilting a couple of years ago even though I started sewing clothing for myself when I was 14.
Amy, thank you for answering our questions. You are truly an inspiration to me. I have been quilting for about a year and a half and even though my mother was a quilter I never picked it up from her. I get all my inspiration from people like you. So thank you! Thank you for the education, thank you for the inspiration, and thank you for your genuine interest in sharing your craft with the world. I very much appreciate you.
Hi Amy! This was a fun video and it’s fun to hear your own name too lol 37 Quilt tops and 14 totally finished is fantastic….. pat yourself on the back lady.!! ❤
You really are so positive and encouraging. Im so glad i found you this year. I pray you have a blessed New Year and a wonderful 2025. Looking forward to what you will share.❤
My first quilted items were potholders which i gave to my sisters-in-law last Christmas. This year, as i was supervising the oven briefly while my SIL had a shower, my daughter and I got so excited when we noticed how dirty the potholders were - they hadn't just been put out for show for Christmas (not that that would have really bothered me but i was pleased to see that the potholders had held up for the year!!)
Thanks for answering all the questions! Casey sounds wonderfully supportive as my hubby is. He is so chill about being voluntold about doing things. Usually things I don't want or can't physically do. I am so a "Martha" and a youngest. I have worked on multiple projects but don't have many finishes. Joining our guild board has cut down on sewing time. Lol This year's goal is finish. Finish the starts and finish the quilting of tops. I now have a folder of paper patterns I want to do and a TH-cam file of patterns I might want to do. I have many favourite Christmas tunes. But I have some that make me cringe. Grandma got run over by a reindeer, so this is Christmas (overplayed) and one that I have blanked out of mind. You and Casy are so entertaining.
It was hilarious last night when Sew Becca told everyone you bought a quilt shop. My son is left handed but writes with his right hand because that’s how the teacher showed him. No one made him do this and his first teacher is a wonderfully kind woman who was appalled when she found out he’s a leftie but writes that way. He never said a word to anyone. Amy we could be twins, I wouldn’t have bought anything from that machine salesman either, even if he was the only place to buy one. I’ve loved listening to all the AMA answers and I’m looking forward to part 2.
Thank you! Yeah he just gave me the Icks so… that’s so funny about the teacher and what a love she is to be shocked by the misunderstanding- that’s a great teacher.
Great Q&A session Amy. Love the natural interaction between you and Casey. Love your attitude to quilting life. I’m a firm believer in doing what makes me happy as long as I’m not hurting anyone on the journey. Take care.
This was very enjoyable as are all of your videos. Thanks for the wash/don’t wash before giving answer. I’m making some baby quilts with my stash for children at Ronald McDonald house for our Guild. They don’t need them to be washed. Love your dogs & enjoyed the video where you showed them. Happy New Year! 🎉🎂🌠🧵
Thank you for answering all the questions! It was fun getting to know you better! Also, thank you for reminding me that it’s ok to let myself off the hook! Much like you, I had huge plans and expectations for my quilting year but life happens and things change. I wasn’t able to accomplish all of my goals this year! I’m trying to think of this time as though I’m hitting the pause button for a short time! I’ve been spending time organizing my thoughts on paper making new goals for the new year! I’m looking forward to part 2! Thank you!❤
Beautiful hair, beautiful Amy, lovely vlog today thanks for answering questions. I’m a Martha too, have to feel useful, but I’m also a firstborn so double whammy.❤❤
I missed your video on your goal. I need something like that in my life. I have a terrible stomach disease and some days I just myself out of doing anything. A goal may help my mind sift to a better place.
Love your hair 😍 I too have a HQ, and I'm the computer who operates it just like you 😂😂😂😂 Since January 2021 I have quilted 620 donated tops and bindings!! I'm on my 4th sewing machine "bindings " 😮 this isn't counting my quilts and friends quilts. I'm running out of room 😂😂😂 I have 13 quilts to go then going up river to give them away !
Hello Beautiful! I was tickled to hear you “call me out” I’m still smiling. I had to look up what Gen X means. 😂 I also had to look up Lita Ford. I’m guessing you are a little younger than I am as I am apparently a “Boomer” 😂I’ve never really paid attention to labels. Just like my kids, it does matter what they are called, I just love them. Love this video, thanks for doing it. Can’t wait to meet the cats.
I definitely enjoyed this episode of your channel! You are so sweet and genuine and fun. And thank you for your husband who seems to be very supportive and encouraging to you. And yes, you always have such beautiful lips and now I know why because you are upscale with those lipsticks. I’m gonna go try out that Revlon, which is more by budget for lipstick. Although I do love my Este Lauder, but they are not as good as they used to be.
I love your shirt! Ty for your videos. Did I see you have some Grover stuffies? I love him and used to have one myself. Knowing your limitations is hard! I have some new ones, and I am struggling! Keep up the good work!
Yes! Grover and super Grover. He’s my hero! Limitations are hard. One thing that helped me make a mind shift was to switch my TO DO list to a TA DONE list. I listed all the things I did in a day (no matter how small). It’s amazing how it shifts your brain into a new place where you really see all the good things you accomplish.
the other part of heat equation is that compared to the Atlanta area, the humidity level is almost desert-like lack of humidity in Austin (compared to El Paso, Austin is quite humid, but compared to Atlanta, Austin is VERY dry,)
Lefty here….. scissors were terrible growing up so I cut right handed but everything else left handed. Did you have a spiral imprint on your arm from spiral bound paper pads?😂😂😂 the desks were always right handed with the armrest.
I'm a lefty and i've tried left handed scissors and fountain pens. All left handed products seem to be complete garbage. I don't have an issue using right handed scissors with my left hand, so never saw the point (ha ha) of left handed stuff anyway. Perhaps with the exception of tin openers.
Catching this a day later. Must be a Georgia thing, "Honey" would have me going elsewhere as well, but I might have waved goodbye. I suppose that is why I own a Brother 6 needle instead of a Babylock. ;)
You know, I am left handed but because there was nothing around for left handed people when I was growing up, I am now what is called dual handed - not ambidextrous, because that means you do everything equally well with both hands. Dual handed, which my doctor calls me, means that some things you do well with your left hand and other things you do well with your right hand. Anything I learned at home, by my Mum, is done with my right hand and everything else is done with my left hand. So, with scissors - right hand, -with rotary cutter, left hand. I notice that there are a lot of left handed quilters on TH-cam.
My grandchild is nonbinary. The only issue I have is that I keep making mistakes when referring to them. But they are very forgiving and appreciate that I correct myself.
You know, I’m born and raised southern and most times it doesn’t bother me- we call everybody sweetheart- but there’s a difference when it’s kindness and when it’s condescension- this was definitely the latter. Yuck!🤢
I am grateful to have found your channel in 2023. I am glad you shared your struggle with surgery and recovery; it was inspiring as I have had my medical struggles this past year. You make my world more beautiful. 🎶💐💖🫂

You’re a rockstar!!! I was a caretaker for many years and a creative outlet is so needed.
I love the lip color you are wearing now. It goes so well withthe colors behind you. Which, I might add are divine.
Thank you!!
Thank You! I appreciate the closer look into your life! I too am solar and heat powered. I hate cold - but I live in PA. That's where the man I love has a farm.
And your hair is awesome!!
PS I love what you said about loving your child! More people need to understand that 💜.
I am glad we are kindred spirits! ❤️
"Cheap and cheerful" - I like that. I'll have to try some. Texas Heat is nothing like Georgia Heat. We were visiting a few years ago and everyone was talking about how hot it was, and we were quite comfortable because there was just about zero humidity!
Ioh I agree. It is so different in Texas. Georgia is rough - It’s all about that humidity! 😊
Well, look at you! Purple hair and all. Very festive. Love it.
Thank you 💜💜💜
I love watching you. You are so kind & you make me smile 😊 I also love your ending to each video. I'm 72 & just started quilting a couple of years ago even though I started sewing clothing for myself when I was 14.
That's so awesome, you are rocking it! 😄. Thank you so much for your sweet comment.
I love the shade of lipstick you chose with your hair. Thank you for answering so many questions with such grace and humor.😊
Thanks so much! You are so sweet! 😊

Hi Amy! This was a fun video and it’s fun to hear your own name too lol
37 Quilt tops and 14 totally finished is fantastic….. pat yourself on the back lady.!! ❤
Thank you. I’m looking at the list of what I did and not the list of what didn’t get done.
YaY for the beautiful purple hair! Thank you for the video, thank you to Casey as well. Have an awesome weekend.
Thank you so much! 💖
Thank you. It’s always fun to know people a little deeper. I love the relationship you and Casey have. You seem very close ❤.
Thank you! It means a lot to hear that.😊. We are ridiculously close. I love every second of it.
You really are so positive and encouraging. Im so glad i found you this year. I pray you have a blessed New Year and a wonderful 2025. Looking forward to what you will share.❤

That's awesome! Sounds like they were put to good use. That’s the best feeling isn’t it? ♥️

Loving the q&a! You are always so open in your answers. And that the purple hair is back too.
Thanks! 💜💜💜
Happy Holiday! Seems we all love the furbabies! Ripped for 2 nd portion!
Thank you. I’m looking forward to it as well.

Totally!

Yes yes all of those things. !!! 😠 😜♥️
So enjoyed your Q&A. We must have been sisters in another life. Sun, YES. Michigan doesn’t have much but…
Thank you so much! Oh it’s cold 🥶 in Michigan. You are braver than I.
Love your hair.
Thank you!
glad to see the return of the purple hair
💜💜💜

Hurray was first one here. Love the purple hair!
Thanks so much! 💜
The 100 quilts seemed to me at the time to be an unreasonable expectation. The number doesn’t matter, it’s the process that is important!
So true.
Catching this a day later. Must be a Georgia thing, "Honey" would have me going elsewhere as well, but I might have waved goodbye. I suppose that is why I own a Brother 6 needle instead of a Babylock. ;)
That is hilarious! 🤣 ♥️
10,000 Almost there, I hope Sew Beccas helped.❤ I got my first longarm for xmas waiting for it to arrive. I'll be looking for reasonable supplies.
Yes it did. Thank you so much. I'm so excited for you! 😊😊😊😛
Hey! I’ve flipped through more than a few of those National Geographics!!!
😂 I’m going to tell Alex to clip and repeat your gestures…
😳
“I went to a party last Saturday night . . .” 😂
“It ain’t no big thing!”
welcome back i see you have the purple hair back

Dual handed - that’s a new term for me thanks. I hadn’t noticed that there a lots of lefties on TH-cam. I’ll have to pay closer attention!!
Me too!
My grandchild is nonbinary. The only issue I have is that I keep making mistakes when referring to them. But they are very forgiving and appreciate that I correct myself.

Honey, sweetie, sugar 🤮I really can’t stand it. It is Mrs or Ma’am!
