- Maggie wreaks a path of destruction in the Simpson home after Marge follows advice in `Smothering Mother' magazine and throws away her pacifier. However, it soon becomes a case of better the devil you know, when Maggie chooses an incessantly squeaky toy dog as a substitute.

One of the funniest Simpsons moments of all time. I always love how Homer didn't just go out to buy a pacifier, guy raided the whole town for every single kind of pacifier he could find. He was lazy, but never when it came to his kids.
Maggie always did have Bart's mischief but Lisa's brains. Also homer's reaction to sleeping tablets is so accurate. You take one, nothing and then suddenly you wake up and it's morning.
Well homer's love for his kids is described as they will never be short of anything outside of a proper health plan...

Well she shot Mr Burns, knocked Homer out with a hammer, dropped a boulder on someone and did a lot in the treehouse of horrors (I know they’re not part of the main series but still)

Maggie Simpson is crying like baby Dil Pickles from Rugrats.
Ironically, Rugrats was from the same company that produced the Simpsons, Klasky-Cuspo.
Another irony is that Dylan Pickles was originally meant to be Angelica's younger brother. She goes through periods of neglect with Dru and Charlotte rearing him. Angelica and Fluffy are annoyed by Dil's whining. She tries to get rid of him by sending him away and getting in trouble with Dru and Charlotte. Tommy and his friends are seen playing with Dil. This makes Angelica more jealous because all the attention she used to enjoy as a single child is now going to him. She learns a hard lesson after accidentally losing Dil and having to team up with Tommy and his friends to find him. However, they changed the script from Charlotte being pregnant with him to Didi.
I do not know why Lisa Simpson was yelling "Lary flint, Lary flint!" Over and over to block out Maggie's crying, and judging from the fact that Lary flint was an adult films producer, I don't think I want to.

For those of you who don't know who Larry Flint was (like me because I was sheltered from his stuff until I Googled him a few days ago) he's the creator of Hustler magazine.
If Marge didn't listen to what she read in that magazine, she wouldn't have to throw that pacifier.

Marge was wrong for ripping the pacifier out of Maggie's mouth and tossing it in the trash while ignoring how she felt. Lisa warned her against it because the advice given by Larry Flint on his magazine was wrong and the negative side effect that would follow. She spoke from experience because she and Bart did the same thing to Maggie by forcing her off the pacifier to fail results. Marge should've listened to Lisa the first time and slowly started weening her off the pacifier. Had she listened the first time, there wouldn't have been any need to try and appease Maggie, nor her fighting with Lisa about Flint's article.
You know Marge shouldn't believe everything she sees on the internet, on the TV, and especially not on magazines.
And because of this Maggie is crying getting angry and going on a rampage plus throwing tantrums.
Poor Maggie she wants her pacifier and her rampaging is very much needed help

I think Maggie sucking on her pacifier is her best way of speaking without saying words until she would get older. Of course the typical characters of the show never aged in the present continuity of the Simpsons.

I wished my sister in law did this,when my nieces were babies,because when they got bigger,and continued to use them,it ruined their teeth,the youngest is now 2,and still uses one,like she’s about to be 3 in 7 months,it’s time to move on,the oldest used it for so long,that now when she takes a drink with a straw,she sticks her tongue out,we have to correct her,she’s about to be 8 in 2 months
