Thanks so much for sharing this kit with us!! Should be a real hit with builders Chris! I believe that the car is a 66 Chrysler Imperial. Lookin' forward to this build!!
The original 'Black Beauty' was built by famed customizer Dean Jeffries from the 1966 Imperial. Jeffries built two cars for the TV series: one for driving scenes the other for the gadgets. He built the cars in one month.
AMT did have a mid 1960's Imperial in their kit lineup back in the '60's and I wanted one to convert into the Black Beauty but the collector prices I couldn't justify. I happened to meet an AMT executive in the mid 1990's after it became AMT/Ertl and moved to Iowa. In the course of our conversation I asked about possibility of reissuing the kit. He told me that they couldn't because when they did an inventory of all the kit tooling it was one of several that were corroded beyond salvage.
I got two things to say the first is never seen the green hornet an the second is l love four door car,s and this car looks lovely something that I would love to put in my model stash to build.
Thanks for the review. This will be my probably next build. I have already the Knight Rider Kit Pontiac, Super Natural Baby impala. The Green Hornet car will be a very good addition.
65-66 Chrysler Imperial Crown, depending on what sense they show it. The tail lights confused me a little, most of the lights are facing up... maybe it was so they could fly the drone back to the car.
I know the real BB didn't have the Hornet logo on the roof but would be nice to have one included. What about those white stripes ... where do they go ... and those asterisks ?
Hey Chris I just happened to pick this kit up over the weekend at my local Ollie's store , I'll share a pick tomorrow when I'm home . Just love your work I've got several idea building details from watching you.
I realise that this will only ever be black beauty, however, with the ability to show most of the weapon options closed, this could be built as one fine custom, my being an imperial owner and all
Once again great video not to jazzed myself for the kit but I like the little extras would probably look cool in other kits but can't wait to see what the build holds so keep cool and model on
About time. Not for your review but, for the car to be finally done in uniform scale with all the others. I never bought the kit because it was 1/32 scale. I'd be crazy to light it.
VERY COOL! However, in actuality, because they did a lot of day for night shooting on the series, they had a filter on the camera lens to block out light. They still had a problem with the Beauty reflecting a ton of light, so they had to hit the car with a black matte finish so the night time shots didn't look "odd". So, the natural finish of the body is much more true-to-life!
The TV BB had very distinctive cats eyes when lit at night, I mentioned to Round 2 at pre production that they should've made some decals for them, but they screwed the pooch. I will be printing mine on transparency film. I was thinking maybe #14 decals were headlights but they appear to be the Hornet logo. 👀
Great review Chris! A much anticipated kit release as well! A great companion to this kit would be “The Car” staring James Brolin. I believe the car itself was based on a Lincoln.
Lincoln Mark III ContInental I have the big 1:18 diecast of The Car, and I see it's still available from a couple different makers if u r interested. 👀
GREAT looking kit, but was a bit upset over a SINGLE EXHAUST pipe set up...OH CUMMON!!!!!!! the original had a 413...and i am pretty sure it would have been dual exhausts with resonators?
Looks like an excellent kit. Built the original Aurora kit when fit and finish did not matter. Built the re-popped kit this year from Polar Lights (Round 2) and it is terrible kit. This one is on my must buy and build list.
Good Review ! Parts look great....However Stripes should be silver/chrome NOT white, Hopefully Round two fixes this asap. Should not be a big deal to remedy.
hpiguys, It's about time! The model kit I've been waited a life - time for...IS Coming Soon! Just had to watch your video again...Today, Oct. 25. LOVE THIS CAR! Sadly, not only a curbside, but hood is molded on and the promo style chassis has a single exhaust! What super hero car has a single exhaust? I think a Chrysler 300 chassis/ engine from AMT or Mobieus might fit under that sweet body. But having to cut the hood off is a major turn off. I'm on the fence about buying this one....
Years ago, as a kid I had the Corgi Black Beauty diecast car. Very cool toys from that era. 😎👍🏼
still got mine
@@ickleshouse Nice.
They're asking a pretty penny for that toy on Ebay. 😎
Mine was long gone. However I got the re-pop about 15 years ago. Made in China, not England.

What a kit ! !
Thanks AMT, Round 2 and hpiguys Workshop for the preview.
Thanks RA!
It was based on a 1966 Imperial four door hardtop.
Nice unboxing. It should be a very popular kit. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice kit! Thanks for the video ❤
1966 was a LONG time ago....having said that, I remember the car being a semi-gloss black, almost the same sheen as the stealth bomber.
So cool! I can't believe this holy grail kit is reality ❤
That is definately different. A must for sure.
This kit is a long time coming. FINALLY!!! Looks like they did Dean Jeffries proud.
The only thing missing is Al Hirt playing the "Green Hornet" theme.
Nothing that arduino and a speaker in the boot can't fix 😊
Great video Chris keep em coming I'll keep watching. Now build it! lol

Gonna need a moment alone boys!! 😍
I just finished the Polar Lights 1/32 scale of Black Beauty last night, great timing!
I can only build it as the Green Hornet car? We'll see about that!!
Looking forward to this kit.
Thanks for the unboxing Chris, love the figures but wish it included an engine.
Yyyuupp DEFINITELY NEEDS an Engine 🙄🙄‼️
Very cool!! Another badass car from Round 2!!!
I really like this kit, will buy it.
Whoop! Bonus video! Throw your viewers a curve ball and build a 20 dollar lego car! I've got the Asto Martin on my desk right now!
I have both the Small DB5 and big DB5 from LEGO. They do look nice.
As a kid in the '60's, I had the 1/32 scale Aurora model of this car - 1965 or 66 Chrysler Imperial.
I know the real BB didn't have the Hornet logo on the roof but would be nice to have one included.
What about those white stripes ... where do they go ... and those asterisks ?
We'll just have to see when I do the full build to come. :)
The "asterisks" are actually for the wheel spokes on the mag wheels.
@@timryan1785 I don't think so, there are only two of them on the decal sheet.
Only five of those long triangles go on each wheel. There are ten in each "asterisk" shape.
I hope you do a build video on this.
Looks like it would be easy to light the kit if you want.
car is based on a 1966 Chrysler Imperial....cant wait to get one
I remember the late Chris Cortel building the Black Beauty. I think it was a 1/32 kit?
the old aurora kit was my first model, 50 some years ago :)
Interesting-- might get one of those myself.
Thanks Chris for the unboxing. Looks like a fun kit. Look forward to the build
I loved that show as a kid.
Like how you show each parts tree during the ending of the video.
Yes, I see that I will have to get one or two!!!
I think this kit will make the perfect gift for an eccentric friend.
Another great video!!!
So since AMT is doing more and more cars in this curbside style using less parts and less plastic why are the prices still so high?
I did a 60s caddy back in the day of the green hornet. 😆
Nice first look. I remember that scene with Brad Pitt, is very good.
Too bad it was utter BS and a slander against Bruce Lee's legacy.
Hey Chris I just happened to pick this kit up over the weekend at my local Ollie's store , I'll share a pick tomorrow when I'm home .

1966 Chrysler imperial crown
nice kit. also amazon prime video has two green hornet movies from 1940 and 1944 that are compiled from the old movie theater serial shows.
Would have liked to build that
The car was a 1966 Chrysler LeBron Imperial, I'm going to get me one of these for sure.
Named after Lebron James way before his time! 🤑🤓😵💫🫠
I have one on pre-order, should be here some time this month.
Coooool!

It would be cool to see you build this along with the new Penquinmobile version of the 66 Batmobile that is coming out
Can’t wait to get this. I had the Monogram (or was it Aurora?) kit as a kid! Awesome stuff.
Aurora.
Those were whisk brooms behind the back wheels

1966 Imperial Crown is what it is based on.
I would love to get this but being in the UK the shipping is prohibitively expensive.
Cool . It’s weird Kateo never had a super hero code name .

I think the car was based on the 1965 Chrysler Imperial. I hope they make the movie version of the black beauty too!
They did make a movie a few years back... It flopped at the box office, sorry.
Chris ,66 Chrysler Imperial. Cany Hreen over the Black would add Realism to the Build
The Studio sent it back to be repainted in MATTE black 🖤 cause the gloss reflected the prop lights.
Looks like an excellent kit. Built the original Aurora kit when fit and finish did not matter. Built the re-popped kit this year from Polar Lights (Round 2) and it is terrible kit. This one is on my must buy and build list.
That last Round 2 kit was cheesy for sure!
I never built the Aurora one but did built a Polar Lights reissue. Guess I didn’t know what is so bad. Looks on to me 🤷♂️
Cool, now they just need to come out with Brit's stock Chrysler, that'd make a complete set, i reckon.
Don't know the year, but it was an imperial. You can also spot the Chrysler trans.
I thought it was based off a ‘65 Crown Imperial
Good Review ! Parts look great....However Stripes should be silver/chrome NOT white, Hopefully Round two fixes this asap. Should not be a big deal to remedy.
Man, I was hoping for a fresh mopar engine
Apparently the car was based off of a 1966 Chrysler Imperial.
Imma get just cause
This is an expensive channel … it now looks like I am getting this kit :-)
1966 Chrysler Imperial
The original was just used as a regular car on the studio lot after the show didn’t make it… can you imagine.
i'm surprised it took THIS LONG to get this in scale. odd
What scale is it anyhow? The box didn't seem to say.
