    In this video I do some coin roll hunting with Australian $2 coin rolls. I open up three $2 coin rolls from Armaguard. Each roll has 25 $2 coins making it worth $50, so that's $150 in total.
    One of the coin rolls that i used in today's Australian coin noodling session was an ender. It had a 2020 JC coin at both ends, so at the very least i knew that i would have 2 coins to add to my collection. My hope was for these coins to be the coloured 75th anniversary of End of World War II coins. Would they be the coins that i hoped? Watch the video to find out.

There are amazing coins to find in coin rolls in Australia and it is a very exciting endeavour as you never know what you will find in your next coin noodling session.

    I like the days when new release coins from the mints were distributed throughout the post office all over Australia.
    Nowadays however mostly the distribution is through the Eastern States and that's inturn opened a whole new market for ppl who don't have any interest in collecting at all, but are simply in it, for on selling.
    Atleast I got my initial orders of the first poppy pnc in 2012 and the Coronation 2013 coins before this IMO completely ridiculous change in the way ppl who collect coins from now on, depending on where you are now of course.

      Couldn't agree more Owen. Very few people are actually interested in collecting these days and most people seem to want to on sell the coins to someone else. The effect of that being real collectors are not getting their hands on the new coins that they love. I can only hope that the distribution of these new release coins is made in a way which is more fair to actual collectors.
      Thanks for watching and reaching out🙂

      Its been hard during lockdown though, i cant always get the coins i want.

    Hey there how does one find a rough value of all coins and how do we sell them? Just in an envelope with tracking through Australia post?

    • @JKayCoins
      @JKayCoins  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey @Sli, I have never sold any of my coins, so I do not have first hand experience in selling them, but people generally sell them on ebay or trade with other like minded collectors.
      One way to find the value of all coins is by referring to 'Renniks Australian Coin & Banknote Values' book. It is a very comprehensive guide on all Australian coins. For more details you can either google the name of the book or have a look at the description of my videos for a link to the book from the official Renniks website.
      Another way is to go to ebay and search for the coin you are looking for. The price that you see on the main page is the asking price which is not always the true value of the coin. The trick is to go to the 'Filter' option on the ebay app, then click on 'Show more' and select the option 'Completed items' and then 'Show results'. This would show a list of coins which have sold recently and the price at which they have sold. Looking at a few of these items would give you a rough market value for the coin.
      Hope this helps.🙂

I am happy to hear that you want to start noodling🙂 That specific coloured coin was released through woolies supermarket directly into public circulation. Recently woolies did something similar with the 2022 Commonwealth games coloured coins too.

    Some of my 1985 $2 coins appear to have an inner rim on the obverse; an indent just inside the rim around the whole coin - I can feel it with my fingernail. Is this common?

    • @JKayCoins
      @JKayCoins  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's usually just luck. Sometimes I don't find any good coins from some rolls and sometimes its one cool coin after another🙂 And its usually from multiple different coin exchange machines from different locations.
      You can try the NAB coin exchange machine a few mins away from Town Hall station. I usually have good luck with that one. But you should be able to get some nice collectible coins from coin rolls from any coin exchange machine.

    Where do you get the armour gard rolls from?

    • @JKayCoins
      @JKayCoins  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @James Brown, I get them from Coin Exchange Machines which most banks have in major cities. It is usually along with ATMs in prominent branches. Depending on the bank you might either get an Armaguard or Prosegur roll.

    are the ones with HH on them rare

    • @JKayCoins
      @JKayCoins  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No they are not. The $2 coins from 1988 and 1989 have the designer's initials HH on them. But they have a mintage of 160.9 million for the 1988 and 31.6 million for the 1989 coins. They are some of the most common $2 Australian coins you will find and they are not valuable to collect. They are worth exactly $2.🙂

  • @vinny6073
    @vinny6073 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have 2 1988 2 dollar coins 1 1987 2 dollar coin all with hh initials what are they worth

    • @JKayCoins
      @JKayCoins  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @Vinny, unfortunately the 1988 and 1989 $2 coins with hh initials are worth only $2 and they are not special as they are high mintage coins (192.5 million coins were minted). 1987 did not have any $2 dollar coins minted, perhaps what you have might be a 2 cent coin. 1987 2 cent coins were available only as mint sets. Depending on the condition of your coin and if it is indeed a 1987 2 cent, it could be worth anywhere from a few cents to a few dollars. Thanks for watching 🙂
