Every winter - elderberry syrup, fire cider, lots of hot herbal teas and chaga. Lots of water, mushrooms, ginger, raw honey, Vit. D-3, C and occasionally multi vit., netti pot, humidifier, Epson salt foot soak. Good diet, and hand sanitizer. I'm 77 and haven't been sick or had a cold for years.
When kids and/or I get sick, wiping off doorknobs, light switches, remotes, phones, swap out hand towels often, change pillow cases often if too wiped out recovering to change all sheets... Doing these help keep transmission and reinfecting between everybody down
I worked for a dentist for years, after a root canal or deep filling he would always (if the patient could take both) give 2 Tylenol with 2 ibuprofen at the same time for dental pain. Works like a charm! You have to take them at the same time.
Thank you,!! So timely! Pack it, rack it and stack it!!! Can’t use saline or lotion tissues. I like Kleenex ultra soft. They’re great for me. I love the sick box idea! There’s soft pastel colored and black lunch boxes at Dollar Tree that would be great for this! 😊
Another great video! Being my mother’s caregiver the last 9 years of her life really opened my eyes on being prepared for just about everything medical/health wise! I’ve got all the boxes checked. P.S. ya gotta have the tissues with lotion it’s non negotiable 😂
Peppermint Essential Oil diluted in a water sprayer and sprayed on the edges of sills and doorways also repels spiders and other icky buggies in a harmless way…..😮
I keep a box of tissues for company. For my own use in public, cotton hankies. For my own use at home, worn out cotton t- shirt parts. They are the best! One -they are big. Two -my nose never gets sore. Three -ya launder them. Yes, they get a rinse cycle first then a full wash cycle. Great for kids. If their nose isn't raw from tissues, they are much more willing to blow their nose. I love my t-shirt snot rags!
@@ramonahierholzer3163 We live along the Oregon coast. Moisture is definitely not a problem. I have “Dehumidifiers” in all the rooms so mold doesn’t grow and metal doesn’t rust.

Just getting over 2 weeks of having some crazy virus, our home made beef bone broth was the only thing our taste buds wanted with a little added noodles. B Bones on the stove now ready to can in 2 days . Thank you for teaching me how to. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
We keep the personal travel size tissues. So each person has there own. Also everyone has there own hand sanitizer key chain bottle on backpacks and the guys keep in there pockets. We take immune plus gummies. They have vitamin D and C . Zinc, elderberry, and echinacea in them. Also cranberry with probiotic. The whole family stays on them tell winter is done. For storage we keep broth powder, true lemon powder and honey, crackers and applesauce, club soda, candied ginger, papaya enzyme tablets, and a greens powder.Really like peppermint, chamomile teas because you can add spices to them for different symptoms. Essential oils also. I get food grade ones so there safe for anything your using them in. We also keep a blood pressure cuff, diabetic meter and thermometer in our sick box. Paper bowls , plates ,cups and plastic silverware. But we also have puzzle books and activity books and pencils in there as well. There for comfort especially for the kids. My Doctor gave me a recipe for electrolytes. So I keep those supplies in there to.. cold and flue meds are always there as well. But after falling and breaking my arm and then having surgery. I have added ice packs and heat packs plus a wedge type pillow to my preps. Thanks for all you do. Great video.
My 3 kids and I came down with Influenza A over the weekend. The second my daughter started exhibiting symptoms I ran to Walmart for a bunch of meds, cough drops, tea, canned soup, and a thermometer. This situation has alerted me to the gab in my preps. I have a bunch of ingredients to make soup…but, I don’t feel like making it when I’m down with this virus too. Canned soup is soooo much easier!!! And the kids can open the can and heat in the microwave themselves without my assistance. Win Win!!!
I use to put a peppermint candy in my kids tippy cup or bottle with warm water, let it dissolve it was just enough for their tummy, and they drank it much easier assisting in keeping fluids in them, worked for us😊
It took a while to learn to appreciate the nettie pot. Thought I was going to choke to death the first time I used it. I got head and chest congestion after surgery. Esstial oils in the humidifier, the oil flavor or smell can definitely improve your life attitude.
I was watching this video while laying on the couch dealing with a chest cold. You made the statement about the eucalyptus oil. I got up and went straight to my essential oil cabinet. Thanks
I’m from a dry state as well (Colorado). Something I use regularly is a product called “Ayr”. It has aloe in it and putting it in your nose keeps nasal passages from drying out.
When my grandmother was alive, if she got a little scratchy throat, she always had a sip from her bottle of Rock and Rye. Cleared things right up. Miss you grandma 💖🙏
Cedar is another great one for Vitamin C. Totally with you on the decongestants, Leisa. Yes, chapped nostrils are not fun, worth it for the lotioned tissues.
When my daughters were young and had sore throats, they both said the throat spray tasted lime dirt!! Now it's a hot toddy with lemon and ginger with hot water and a shot of whiskey.
Howdy Leisa! Waving from East Texas! I’m fighting a Respiratory Cootie as we speak. Had a shot of Rocephin on the ‘7th. I JUST discovered I’m out of Vit C, Zinc, and K2. 🤦🏻♀️.
There is something to be said for the chicken soup. Ginger ale is good to have around. A doctor told me that when water doesnt stay down, ginger ale with the bubbles stirred out usually does. I saw a homemade cough syrup on Facebook several yrs ago that works well. Fill a mason jar with hard peppermint candies, add some honey and lemon (I eyeball it), then cover with whiskey. It will take several days for the whiskey to break down the candies. Shake it up now and then. 1-2 tablespoons for an adult.
Your kind calm voice helps me keep a logical brain during times of panic. Thank you for your content. New follower and i just adore you💗 thank you kindly💗💗💗
Tried Fire Cider for the first time last week. WORST thing I ever put in my mouth!! 😂BUT, I quickly got used to it. So packed with awesome benefits!!! 👍
Thanks Leisa. I definitely need to check oils and tea's. We heat by wood as well, we keep a pot of water on it all season long. One thing, years ago my son had surgery as a child , the surgeon told us to rub vitamin E oil on the scar once healed and massage it a few times a day for 15 minutes each time and it helps the scar lessen. Hearing you talk about oils reminded me of that. ❤
Great video Leisa. In the U.K., we are limited to 2 packs per product per shop visit. Crazy as we can go back in again or go to other stores and by another 2. Don’t forget cayenne pepper. I nicked my finger with a knife and put cayenne on it and it stopped the bleeding within seconds then I put an elastoplast on it. I take 1/2 tsp of it mixed in cool water 3 times a day to help clear arteries and heat me up. It’s also excellent for heart attacks, a little bit under the tongue. Like you I am not a doctor but I watch a lot of holistic doctors on this platform. You can also buy tea tree body wash which is also good for washing clothes or sanitising things.
I’m telling you that homemade French Onion soup with garlic is very soothing for all that ails you. Also hot Chai. Or black tea with ginger, honey, and lemon.
Last week, I came down with something strange. I was literally feeling fine one minute, got out of bed to see my son out and got back into bed, immediately my nose started running like crazy and wouldn't stop. Even at work a patient asked me if I were sure I just had allergies...I really didn't know, I came home, and immediately cracked open a theraflu pk along with some honey and lemon and I was fine the next morning. Over the next few days the skin peeled from my nose and mouth area from all the blowing I had done.
Dollar tree has small bags of halls cough Drops. I like to tuck them in purses and glove boxes and it a nice amount so they don’t get sticky before you use them up:
As always such great advice!!! Waiting for my grandson to get here for the holidays then planting a bunch of ginger inside to keep me supplied. So many of the things you mentioned can be found at the various Dollar stores so that's where I start stocking up from there everything gets organized on the back of the bathroom door in a clear shoe bag...
Hi Lisa. I saw another video where you recommended including these items in my prepper pantry. I hadn't thought about that, so I followed your advice and already stocked up on them. My Dad always suggested Elderberry and he made it into wine. I loved that because the alcohol helps calm coughs. Surprise surprise, I picked up a few new ideas from this video. Thanks Much for all you do to help us prepare. It also is helpful to run a humidifier during this season.
Even during the summer I keep teas, different kind of cold and flu med, and soups stocked up because I’ve found some really good deals in the clearance and dates was really far out
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. It is better to buy in late summer and early fall. While it is in stock most of the time.
I splurge on eucalyptus shower steamers. Nice to open up sinuses for awhile. I don't want to get out of the shower sometimes. All the steam. Now my sinuses and ears are all plugged up.

I made my first batch of Fire Cider and Elderberry Syrup earlier this year. I intend on making more so I can barter and trade with them. I also made a bottle of fermented garlic and honey. I also have made some lemon, ginger and honey.
I just rinse mine with hot water shake off and squirt peroxide on it..idk if it's enough but gives me a piece of mind that my toothbrush is relatively clean lol
Using a Nettie pot (nasal lavage) can help to deal with severe sinus congestion. I use a warm strong saline solution.. it has helped when even Sudafed didn't work.
