- Today I accidentally came upon this abandoned Big Kmart in Alliance Nebraska. Upon further investigation, this store closed on March 21, 2019. Amazing that the signs are still up!

We are a railroad town. After the railroad made the long trains, the BN people had to move away, because they laid off so many. Lots of our local business closed.
*It had nothing to do with the Railroad. This Store was still making a profit when it closed....It had everything to do with Sears's bad business practices.*

I worked there back in the Christmas season of 1983. Walmart bought property there back in 2006, the city council shot them down. The property ended up being sold to where Bomgaars is straight west of there. Now, there's nothing but Dollar General stores there. That town dug its own grave. I grew up there, what used to be a booming railroad town is now just a turd with a BNSF railroad yard attached to it.
Yes, the only thing there now is a bunch of dollar generals and one dollar tree🥲
Target has bought a lot of the old Kmart buildings maybe this one but the town only has 8500 people hard to make a profit

Wow no takers on fixtures or carts. Surprised Lampert didn't have them taken to a scrap yard since he is good at extracting every ounce of value from the two brands. Maybe this was part of the Bankruptcy.

I came across this video and this is my kmart and at the moment that kmart isn’t doing to do good by it’s flooded inside due to pipes bursting
I actually live in alliance the Braska and that Kmart is still up and the G is actually almost down now and the tire that you saw or on the back is still there and the carpet is a little bit ripped out now one of the windows is a little bit smashed

we have kmart closed feb 2020 all the signs and lights are on, that register does look like it was on, i think i saw the power light on the register still on but i could be wrong

I’m back!! It’s Jaccob that one Kmart light 2 a few years ago!! Sucks kmarts are almost all gone!! there’s only 1 left in my state the Marshall Michigan Kmart it’s really sad 😢

This was one of their group 9 stores.
My local kmart was demolished everything such as the signage, checkouts, computers, still inside
Kinda odd that all the registers computers shelves are all set up like they just took everything out and closed down one day
Not really the same happened with my local kmart it was even demolished with the signs, checkouts and computer's in it
That Kmart closed in March 2019, was the last Kmart open in Nebraska. It is located around 50 miles from where I live. I went there a couple days before it closed. The Kmart in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, where I live, closed in December 2016. They took the signage down at the Scottsbluff store, and it is empty and deteriorating, and the attached shopping center is also empty.

Awesome! This would be one of the locations that would have been shuttered due to bankruptcy and therefore Kmart was not obligated to remove signage but also not obligated to pay the landlord therefore all goods of value at the property are seized such as shelving, carts, checkouts, etc.
It was our only dept. store too. :(
If you guys get to Omaha, NE, there's the first Kmart to open and also the last one in the state that opened in July of 1968 the closing date I'll have to look it up it sat at South 50th and L streets. It now home to a self storage place (not Uhaul) and a truck driving school, it had a Kfoods as well and was about the size of what was a Super Kmart Center. I'll post pictures of it on the Nate Guys and Gals site. Ps. The one in the video is one small town stores.
