I am struggling with depression.. But I have been listening to Insomnium and Kataklysm any chance I get... It's like their music is helping me through my dark days..

In the chorus, the way the dirty and clean vocals overlap and create the most perfect harmony of sounds - perfect enough to give me cold chills - is just unbelievable. It's a sound hard to achieve and that's one reason I have come to love this band.

Insomnium has to be one of my top 5 favorites. You can never go wrong with melo death. Every melo death band I find, I love. There is never one band I will dislike.
Very rarely do you have such a good contrast between clean & unclean vocals. The guitars are epic. The drumming fits this song perfectly. Truly an exceptional piece of art.
Finally caught them live for the first time on the fourth try. Age restriction on the first two, then Covid. Saw them with Enslaved. To this day I swear the only thing that got me moving in the morning and kept me from off myself in highschool was Ephemeral. Didn't play it during their setlist, so now I have an excuse to see them again.
This band is purely amazing..lyrics, guitars, drums, nothing is overdone nor less than should be. Even their old music is just as outstanding! These guys should be on top 10 billboards, not that untalented pop garbage.

Damn man,it brings tears to an old mans eyes,tears of pride amongst Finnish metal bands. The guitar solo takes me out from my livingroom,into depths of Finnish forests. Impressive!
What an absolutely emotional masterpiece. I'm so falling in love with this band. They are filling that melodic death metal hole that In Flames left behind after Clayman.
Only rarely do I conment videos... This one will be such an exception... Is it only me, or is it their furious sadness, that kind of sorrow that makes you scream with rage, that makes these masterpieces so touching? I feel it resonating, while I'm no frggin' emo, I just feel the urge to go outside and roar it all out
I think it's Insomnium's orchestration that sets them apart for me. In Flames, Be'lakor, Omnium Gatherum etc. all have great melody, but the dynamics and layers in Insomnium's songs put them over the top. Even when there are cleans, the growls are still present underneath. The base, rhythm guitar, and harmonized leads all complement to create an immense sound. Other melodeath bands write great songs, but lack the grandeur.

I just discovered these guys last year....so I feel the same....discovered Kamelot but like 3-4 years after Roy Khan left the group....discovered Nightwish about 3 years ago....of course Tarja was no longer in the group....it sucks....here in the US were hearing mostly crap or rock songs from the 70's and 80's. TH-cam has been my best source to find all these great northern European bands.
I sort of recently discovered them also. I grew up on the Maiden, Metallica then early death metal such as Death, Morbid Angel, Entombed, Deicide etc. A friend intro"d me to Arch Enemy which I liked and then Amon Amarth which I really liked but there are sooo many bands compared to the 90s. I tried listening to many others but either the vocals annoyed my (CoB) or they used that horrible Zakk Wylde squeal. I fucking hate that squeal. I think Zakk over uses it but for ANY other player to use it is excuseless. Behemoth, could be wrong but I think they used it on a number of albums which turned me off them but their last album was fucking amazing, very very good writing. Anyways, this album was one of few recommended that I liked instantly. The first two tracks on it are about as good as it gets. Love how this track opens. Amazing. Th sad thing is with so many good bands, I know I am missing out on many that just take awhile to grow on me and they aften become my faves.

Idk what some of these people are talking about. The clean vocals are done very well. His vocals are very conservative and reflect pure emotion (not winey crap). They add to the memorablity and overall enjoyablility of the song.

It is a masterpiece. The guitars are nuts. It's nice & heavy without being boring. Good melodic chorus too.
