  • For the past 6 weeks we seem to have been racing to get to Bristol and back before Blakes Lock closes for 5 months. We don't want to spend our winter on the Kennet and Avon Canal, despite how lovely it is, so we needed to be back on the Thames by the end of October, And we made it!
    It's exciting to be exploring again after covering old ground since we left Bristol. We visit Pangbourne, Goring and Wallingford. Michael is enjoying all the history and George is loving the countryside.
    Make sure you watch to the end to see all our outtakes and we would love to hear your comments. Please also like and subscribe!

    Mighty and rivery! Describes the Thames to a "T"! Gorgeous scenery this time...well, every time, but I really enjoyed the castle and the beautiful river. Glad you made it out before the end of October. Those rowers are a dedicated bunch! Thanks for an enjoyable start to my Sunday.

    Having been fortunate enough to have lived and grown up on a river the size of the upper Thames I really enjoyed this vlog. Great job. Oddly there was stone castle home and earthworks built by a reclusive stone mason along RR tracks in Fox River Grove IL The river was nearby. There was a single lock on the waterway way upstream.

    Hi there! Great to see that my favourite youtubers are coming towards me! My girlfriend and I just bought a boat to live on that we are picking up from Whilton on Friday. You guys have been a great recourse for us when deciding to make the move to live on the water. We'll be going down the Oxford Canal to moor up in Oxford on the Thames over the next few months. Are you continuing north on the Oxford canal then? We'll keep an eye out for you! Sounds like we might very well pass each other. /Hannes and Isla on "Sorcha Eilis"

    Great film. One question, while you were on the mooring in Goring.
    I do hope you were not snoring.
    Because it is prohibited to do snoring on the mooring in Goring.
    Poor prose and I apologise for being boring.
    But it is allowed to be boring in Goring as long as you are not snoring.
    No snoring in Goring but it is allowed to be boring.
    Just no snoring.
    😉

    • @MinimalList
      @MinimalList  6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      +Norman Boyes Hate to be pouring, but there was in fact snoring, upon our fine mooring, our mooring in Goring. Though it wasn't so boring as laying some flooring, after some storing up in high Goring we returned to our mooring and did, indeed, snoring, sleep at our mooring, that mooring in Goring. Hope you're not soaring, or thinking of warring, for all of our snoring at our mooring in Goring. M

    • @GenaF
      @GenaF 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It didn't take long in procuring a mooring yet nobody mentioned going touring after securing your mooring in Goring.
      Georgie dawg looked so adoring, soaring after his ball and then restoring and storing his energy whilst you are both off with your touring of Goring.
      Sorry, my roaring has become quite boring. My skills with poems are not worth scoring.

    Oh I've got such a long way to go to catch up with you but I'm really enjoying these posts. Fascinating, enjoyable, entertaining, relaxing and educational!
    I was pleased to see you made it off the K&A although I'd have been surprised if you didn't. I keep meaning to ask, what's the relevance of "1900" on the side of the boat? Was it built in 1900 or perhaps that's the time it rolled off the construction line one evening 😂

    • @MinimalList
      @MinimalList  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sadly the answer is we really don’t know... the 1900 has been on her since she was first commissioned, but from what we were told the fella who named her isn’t with us any longer and no one knows the actual story. We think, having seen a mention of them at the Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port, that it may have been meant to evoke a Thames Waterman’s License number, which was unique to working boats plying the upper Thames and wouldn’t have been an unusual sight on a boat coming out of Weybridge onto the Thames. Since she was originally ordered for Pyrford Marine that would make some sense, and it’s in the right location centered under the name, but unfortunately it’s just speculation. M
