The neat thing about this is you can (fr a given antenna) carry a few 'fixed'-loads for bands of interest instead of a tuner with its variable components and weight--great for the backpacker! 73...

Thanks, I been learning this app for while now but what you have shown an auto-network blow my mine It's fantastic and learn everyday. Kudos to these two good teachers W2AEW and W0QE also to the developer of js_simsmith.

Great video, thank you for simplifying this where so many others fail.

I'm a senior citizen just getting into this new hobby. Your video helped me to understand a little more in detail the art of antenna tuning. Did you ever build your circuit and how did it work? Would like to see a video, or pictures, of the fabrication process.

I also had trouble with my 17 foot whip on 20 meters portable. I use a trailer hitch mount. No radials needed on 17 and up for good SWR but I needed to add a few radials for 20. I use short radials only about 11 or 12 feet. I find it not critical as long as I have 3 minimum to provide a low enough capacitive reactance ( low impedance) coupling to the ground. I don’t seem to need much when I just use my Hustler mobile antenna to get a low SWR but bandwidth suffers.

thank you.right now i'm learning this sim smith...and make me confident after watch your video.., any way ,is there any other way to measure the antenna swr with a certain frequency range?, from what i know, when measuring the antenna using vna, the antenna impedance also changes. can the ZL load data on simsmith use some kind of impedance plot data in that frequency range?

Hey ~ nice work ...Did you ever buy the components & build the circuit ~ Test etc 73

Try simulate each circuit with the sweep graph, you'll find that some of these are also (other than matching networks), also low pass or high pass filters and so on.
Look when you use the matching network, it can be selected high or low pass.
It is better if you choose (for this application) a low pass, so you can either match the antenna and suppress any harmonic that comes out of the QRP transmitter.
I think this is described in the W2AEW and also in the W0QE videos (take a look at his channel, very good). You can also load the s1p (touchstone file) that comes out from the NanoVNA, and let the load in SimSmith actually be your antenna!
