Been a motorcyclist for 50 years and having watched this I realise that there were times when going back to basics again would have helped me. Good stuff ~ keep at it 😃
Weird in'it.... you never stop learning. I've had bikes on n off since I was 16. Got back on a bike seriously at 43 ( over 27 years ago !). Had a VFR, a Zx7R and for the last 14 years a ZX10R that I love, and toured all over Europe on several times over, but recently for a change bought GS 1200 bit of a monster, fully loaded with luggage etc for someone with cronic arthritis but..... I'll get there ! Once lockdowns over we're off to our place in southern spain 👍😁😁👍
The Hero, Blob Thanks very much for your comments! You’re absolutely right she certainly is determined and capable! Whatever she turns her mind to she tends to get it done and it was quite a big step up in weight and power.😀👍
Thanks so much! You’re absolutely right - we KNOW we are lucky - we found each other late in life and have the same passion for riding and adventuring 😀! Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍😀
Sue, what a joy to watch the videos from yourself and Bri ... so professional-looking yet honest and relatable at the same time! I have just watched parts 1 and 2 and can't agree more about constantly learning. I'm 70 now and had a bike since I was 16 and still at school but a few years ago took a 'Bikesafe' course with our local Boys in Blue which was a revelation ... they taught me so much! I'm lucky to have a wife who is also a biker but she doesn't have the confidence you have! Keep up the good work ... I'm addicted to your amazing video experiences!
Hi John. Welcome to the channel and thank you so much for your lovely comments. I’m so pleased you like the videos. We can’t wait to get out and make some more, as soon as the restrictions are over. Here’s to many, many more miles of smiles and I hope you and your wife have lots more adventures. Sue 👍🏍🏍
Great video with very good and honest reflections from you Sue; everybody makes mistakes but the important thing is to learn from them. I appreciate this is from a couple of years ago and you will now have more experience. Continue to enjoy your biking, well done. Cheers, Andy.
Great job! A practical review, from a semi-experienced rider, not from some pro rider whos skills are seldom used by the average rider. Sir, you are very fortunate that the misses enjoys owning/riding a bike. Great job young lady! The eyes of Texas are upon you. :-) 2 wheels down......throttle twisted.......happy!!
Thank you very much - we appreciate your comments! I am very fortunate that Sue wanted to ride, there’s nothing we enjoy more than touring together 👍😀 Thank you for watching and thank you Texas!! 🏍👍😀
Very inspiring story Sue !...I also had many failures on my tests ...and kept going back until...I passed with a perfect score ! Practice is the key ...makes us all better riders.
Thanks very much Michael! It was definitely worth persevering and we have such a great time riding together although obviously still learning! Thanks for watching! 👍😀
Thanks David! The extra crash bars were a good investment! 😂 once it’s past its tipping point 🤷♂️! Bri told me he dropped his bikes lots of times 😩 it won’t stop me - thanks for watching! 😀👍
Well done Sue!, a great story, very encouraging, and admirable, clear and informative commentary, really like your style,no gimmicks just being down to Earth and just tell it as it is,everyone on a bike makes mistakes including dropping the bike, I have, lol. so has many others i know,😁...but you do learn from it, So glad you guys do a great job in your filming and commentary, trust me it all truly is a joy to watch.👏🏽👏🏽.. as you know riding a bike is very therapeutic as we see the world from a different perspective,we are out there with the elements and it does make all the difference to your senses, smell, and reaction to things, riding a bike switches on all your your nerves... and like I have said watching you guys,on my TV is a very therapeutic way to spend my afternoon ,so once again thank you very much indeed, long may you both live, God bless, stay safe and continue to ride good.👌🏽💯👍🏽😁
What a lovely message, Stan. Thank you so much. Bri and I are so happy that you love watching the videos. We can’t wait to be out there making more memories and sharing them. Here’s to a great year for riding - and reminiscing over videos 😉Wishing you and your family the very best for 2021. Sue

I have been watching your videos/trips and are awesome! I really admire you as a couple of bikers full of energy and great vibes! Best wishes to both of you and keep sharing with us your beautiful country and adventures ✌🏼
This just popped up on my recommended list, good stuff, subscribed immediately. As a shortarse myself i ride a BMW f650GS low chassis version, and live in the Balkans. Been riding since 1973, i will ride until i cant.
I think your grate . I dropped my bike twice once coming out of my aunts garage n beringham what an embarrassment and poor aunty trying to lift it of me and me stuck under its 300 kgs .their are worse things that can happen all the best and safe riding .Thanks for video .keep up the great work
Thanks Gerry. On the few occasions I’ve dropped my bike, there has always been lots of people around and on one occasion, an entire group of Harley riders who all dashed over to help, much to my embarrassment 🫣I guess it happens to all bikers at some time. Thank you for watching our adventures 😀👍
Thank you very much! I think she’s wonderful too 😀! Sue was keen to help others through her story and the feedback has been excellent - a lot of people have been inspired to get on two wheels. We really appreciate your comments and thanks for watching! 😀👍
A nice vid/review thanks for taking the time and sharing the experience, Im late middle aged and ridden all my life but still learning. I have a few bikes but got a Triumph thunderbird, 1700 Harley like beast, not my usual bike style, but lots of olders on Harleys all kept saying: we rode sport bikes back in the day. Well, lucky this has big crash bars as iv, e never dropped a bike as much, 4 or 5 times now, all differing circumstances, so don't feel ashamed. I love the boot cones, that's been adopted for the cart horse thunderbird
Thanks very much! I think we can all agree we’ve all dropped our bikes - I had an old BMW that I dropped lots 🙁 thank goodness for crash bars 😂 thanks for watching! 😀👍
Hi sue. Just found your channel and subscribed. I did the same as you last yr, went from a 550 to a 2019 tiger xrt, the best move ever. Realy enjoy your video,s, ,,, keep em coming, and we also go to the super sausage through out the yr, so may bump into you one day. ✊️
Hi Stephen. Thank you for your lovely note and for watching our adventures. It took me a little while to get used to my XRT but I really loved it and would only have changed it for another Tiger. The 900 GT pro was a very good decision for me and I think I’ll always be a Triumph fan. Wishing you many miles of smiles on your 🐯☺️👍
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries Hi I’ve got the Tiger 1200 XRT 👌 fully loaded for touring. Can’t wait for the spring to arrive. I get my motorcycle fix all year round as I’m a Blood Biker. We’ve got an excellent fleet of bikes to choose from. Looking forward to going through your other videos. Happy travels 🏍
Thank you for confirming my decision as a mid life (53) beginner, to buy a Tiger 800. I passed my test in November and bought the bike in December. I was worried about committing to such a big bike as my first, but from the first slightly terrified ride home from the dealer, it has just given me a feeling of "relax, we've got this". I haven't dropped it, yet! It had its 500 mile service this week. I am just waiting for for ice free free time to build up the miles and skills.
Hi. Congratulations on buying your Tiger 800. Now I'm getting more familiar with mine, it's actually a great bike to ride. The extra engine bars I've had put on have helped me forget about dropping it so I can concentrate on having fun. We're hearing stories from so many lovely midlife learners /riders. Glad my journey helped you to make a good bike choice. Happy Biking x
Hopefully not too late responding a year later but your comment fits me almost precisely. 51 about to start bike training. Haven’t ridden for 20 years and that was 125cc and country tracks. Want the Tiger 800 but was worried it might be a bit too big, initially.
Hi Jack, I love my tiger but it did feel a little top heavy at first, having ridden a BMW GS700 for the first 7000 miles after passing my test. I’m 5’6” and not the heaviest build so if you’re taller and stronger, the 800 is probably fine for you. I’d recommend you take it out for a good test ride - town roads and countryside - to be absolutely sure. Happy biking 👍🏍Sue
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries Thanks Sue I do feel that I’m probably a lot more responsible than I would have been 20/30 years ago, god time flies. Plus although I m only 5.8 I pushed one around the other day as a test with not too much difficulty and could easily sit on an XR with both feet squarely on the ground. Pity I’d have preferred an XC but I’m a bit on the short side for that. Really enjoyed watching you and hearing your opinion in the video. Think I’ll definitely get one now. Thanks again
Excellent story line and well done on everything. Small world, I saw this long wall and said "thats Woburn estate" Here you are riding through Wobourn I lived in MK on the far west side for 20 years before retirng to western France. You have a great channel.
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries I am enjoying all the content. I did a couple of amateurish videos that I posted end 2019 early2020 then "annus horibilis" plus we had an unexpected death in the family so....................... I need to start all over again, seeing how others do it. At that time it was a 900 Tracer and a Wing.
I have to say that I found both of you are talking in a very organized way and that is really enjoyable. She’s right that very bike is different, we need to be humble and learn the new bike form scratch. Riding mt07 and loving the current tiger 800, I’m waiting for the 2020 version as the spy photos came out already.
Biao Dong Thanks for your question - the 850gs wasn’t really an option for Sue as it is just too tall and also the Tiger was better equipped with a taller screen and heated seats.
Dropping bikes seems to be my thing. Over the last five years, I've owned three different bikes. Honda XL-125, Yamaha XJ600 & Suzuki DL-1000. Each one I've drop at least once. I've learned my lesson, & become a more attentive & cautious rider. Good luck with the Tiger.
Thank you! For me the key is always plan ahead nowadays and try not to let it get past the “tipping point “ 😱 ! And of course, get crash bars fitted - just in case! 😂😀👍
As someone that rides the extreme trials ( no seat bikes), motocross and the occasional enduro. My best tip for slow riding is to flare the knees and legs out and counter weight the pegs. So in a left turn the wheel is facing left and bike is slightly leaning left but I’m physically pushing down on the right peg. Also relaxing really helps. Sounds obvious but relaxing and allowing yourself to become a bit more loose really works too. Hope that helps
Thanks Martin 🙏 that’s really good advice and makes a lot of sense 😀 sometimes slow riding seems counter intuitive - but I definitely feel much more confident when I’m more relaxed! 😀👍
Brill and nice to hear you like the Tiger. I also dropped my 16 plate Tiger 800 and even with crash bars fitted the pointy indicators stick out and I've now got a cracked panel. I note yours is an XRT and I've spent loads upgrading mine to as near as I can from an XR to the XRT except the mapping option and heated grips as I use heated gloves and mapping is just throttle control I don't think I'm missing anything. As most of my journeys are 2 up and with loaded paniers and a top box, the standard suspension was not good so that was changed to a fully adjustable Nitron shock along with new KTech fork springs. When time came I upgraded the stock rubber to Metzeler Roadtec 01's and the improvement was very noticeable. Still considering if a 'comfort' seat would be worth the money for long trips. Keep up the great videos.
Hi Robert, thanks for your note and for watching the video. It took me a little while to get used to the Tiger but I love it now. We’re considering changing in March to the GT Pro so I’ll keep you posted 👍🏍☺️
Thanks very much Tim! I find if I don’t do any for a while, i get nervous about them so I get Bri to follow me down to our training ground (aka the lay-by on the A428) and make me do a few. I guess the secret for me is practice - while no one is watching, or course 😀👍
Very well said. So glad you are happy with your Tiger. My wife also rides a Tiger 800 and loves it. She loves it so much she started her own riding group called "Triumph Tiger Troop". Please look her up on Facebook. Blessings to you and your family!!!
Very good decision, we love the Tiger too (xCA-800, in our case) We found the same problem while dropping the bike😇 There is a kit in GB available, to move the Indikator to a less exposed position, including a new additional small indicator for the original position.
Hi, had my XRt over 5yrs now .... you probably already do it (but some bikers don't) but an absolute must on the Tiger ... always park in gear and moved forward to take up chain slack before finally putting sidestand on the ground, they really are easily accidentally knocked off their sidestand if left in neutral (and yes they are very top heavy, dropped mine 3 or 4 times stationary). I'd follow you on the Tiger but wouldn't have on your GS ... absolutely hate those annoying strobing brake lights (and BMW strobing front lights). Enjoy the Tiger and ride safe.
Thanks very much for the tip! Also really glad to hear that it is top heavy and it’s not just me being a wimp 😬! To be honest I never really notice the strobing lights when I’m following Bri - probably too busy concentrating 😂! I love my Tiger - thanks for watching! 👍😀
Congratulations on the new Toby the Tiger. The joy of a new bike and such a smart looking one at that. I am graduating this year as well goin from theR1200R, a nice low bike , to the enormous 1250 GS and that at only at 5ˋ7. ( What was i thinking?). I did order low suspension and protective bars as i certainly will drop it at some point. I was suppose to pick it up yesterday, but here in Berlin , the snow is coming down and the temperatures are below freezing day and night. I will just have to delay my joy but it was nice to feel it through your experience. Good luck and many happy journeys with Toby. Love your content and videos! 👍Jim
Hi Jim, thanks for your lovely note and for watching our adventures. It took me a little while to get used to the Tiger but, having done many miles, would really recommend it. Bri and I are actually considering buying the new 900 GT pro. We had a test ride before the current lockdown and loved it - it’s a little less top heavy so great for me. Good luck with the 1250 GS. It’s a beautiful bike. Post some pictures on our FaceBook page when you have a minute 👍Ride safe and keep warm! 🥶😀Sue
Watched every minute of that and loved it. Great production. Hope you end up loving your 'Toby' as much as I love mine (8k miles so far on my '18 XRT). :)
Hi RetroBiker. Thank you for your note. We watched the video of your travels on the Isle of Wight and loved it. ‘Toby’ was a step out of my comfort zone after my GS700 but absolutely the right decision. We’re currently in the USA - LA to Las Vegas- and I’m back on a 700 as MotoQuest don’t have Triumph. Looking forward to getting back on my 800 on our return and have lots of great trips planned. Glad you liked our video. Sue 👍🏍
Sue, I feel your pain in dropping the bike.......me.....well I'm only 5ft 8 and 11 stone wet through.......so naturally I went and got myself a nice lightweight bike..........a BMW 1150GS!!........so a few weeks later I had the wife on the back, panniers and top box, fully laden with petrol.......out with the UKGSER forum crew near Hawes......came to a stop on a small lane......uphill.......uneven road surface......steep camber.........me.......stops bike.......puts leg out to reach the ground.......which isn't there........the bike...starts to topple over......the wife somehow managed to get off the bike before it hit the ground.......luckily I had invested in crash bars which limited the damage........don't ask me how, but I managed to pick the bike up on my own and wheel it to even ground. LESSON LEARNED THE HARD WAY!! Ride safe. Steve
Sound as though, like me, only your pride was hurt, Steve 😳 It’s a real shocker when you go to put your foot down and the road isn’t there! If you watch the Snowdonia vid, I had 2 kids run out in front of me on the steepest road in Wales. I needed an extra 6” on my left leg to reach the ground 😂Fortunately I had crash bars fitted so only the pride dented. Ride safe 👍🏍
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries Will watch that one later.......my other half is only happy if I can get both feet firmly on the ground when at a standstill on a bike - she also worries a bit if I'm out on it - not because of my ability, but other road users - Personally, I accept the risk and always ride defensively - there are three ways out of the village where I live - two involve going down single lane roads with stone walls, high hedges and no run off to avoid a collision......I never use them, always take the longer route as it is safer - the joys of living in the countryside!!
I too kept dropping my tiger 1050 when slow manoeuvring or stationary especially when I had my wife on the back. Not the best experience. I swapped it for a Bmw r1200r and never looked back it’s fantastic. The tiger was way to tall and extremely top heavy. Good luck with your new bike....
Thanks Nick. I did get used to the 800 after a while but, having now done c900 miles on the 900, it feels much easier to manoeuvre. I guess it’s just about finding the right bike. Bri likes the Tiger but much prefers his GSA. I think I’ve found the right one with the Tiger 900 ☺️👍
Choosing a top box for my gs 700 but a little mindful I don’t want it to look to big for the bike, may I ask what size top box you had on yours. Thank you paul
We can’t remember exactly how many litres it was but it was a BMW top box and could hold a full size helmet 👍 hope that helps? Good luck - stay safe and have lots of fun 😀👍!
loved your comments! having ridden for 50 + yrs almost every brand & size out there i can verify , dropping yer bike is no big deal, the wife & I were having dinner and the bike was out front where I could watch it, upon leaving my wife climbed on behind me, i fired it up waited until it was warmed bit knowing others were watching as " we were Cool , in our leathers " started off and 2 inches later the front disc lock I had failed to remove did its job . stopped dead bike with wife & me now laying on the side , super embarrassed ! oh well not my first or last mishap .
Thanks very much Steve! I said the same to Sue 🤷♂️ dropped many a bike during my relatively short riding career - including attempting to ride off with the disc lock still attached! 😂 thanks for watching and commenting! 👍😀
Join the club, I've dropped my Tiger several times and I was lucky I broke the indicator, not the fairing. I was pretty quick to fit upper crash bars & smaller indicators + extra ones on top of the fog lights. In my defence, I ride off-road and parking up to open & shut gates putting your foot into potholes overgrown with grass...... That is where it falls over. I also swopped the handguards for BarkBusters & half sawed through the end of the clutch lever. I broke the clutch lever on 1 drop, luckily enough reminded to get home. Why do I ride off-road??? I know you have the 900 now but I was interested to see your 1st impressions of the 800. I used to have regular rider training as part of my job. You are right, one can't have enough practice.
Thanks Bernie! I’ve dropped it on road let alone off road 😂! I think I’ll stick to the black stuff rather than dirt 😀👍 - still need to keep up the practice even when I don’t feel like it ! 😀👍
Hi Matthew, If I’m honest I’ve always avoided walking with the bike and tend to manoeuvre it while I’m sitting on it. (I’m 5’6” - long legs, short torso) I’ve always been a bit apprehensive about dropping it but it is something I need to practice. The bike is lighter than the 800 and the weight is lower down, which helps a lot but it’s still significantly heavier than me, so getting use to walking with it is something I need to do. Thanks for watching our adventures ☺️👍🏍
Great review, i just dont get BMW owners who feel the need to keep the side panniers on when they are not being used. I see them all the time sat in traffic ques because they cant filter.
I'm just getting into motorbikes and I'm looking at a Kawasaki Versys 650 for touring. It's tempting too look at bigger bikes like the Tiger 900 and assume I will be able to keep a £15k bike looking new. I need to curb my bravado and take a leaf out of your book :) Ride safe.
Thanks very much! You’re right it is tempting to start too big at first - we think starting with a 650 is sensible 👍 although the Tiger 900 isn’t too big (except for the price! 😱) you can always change up as your confidence and experience grow 😀👍
Watched the video and read the comments; as like you I'm 5' 6" and am considering the Tiger 800 XR series. Very informative so thank you. As for dropping the bike, yes we've all been there, most of the time it's the adrenaline from the embarrassment that enables you to pick it up. Thanks
I test rode both the 1200 and 800 Tigers in 2015 when I was coming back to biking and TBH if you only ride solo the 800 is a much nicer bike to ride. Hmmm dropping bikes, been there done that! Dropped my 1200 GS with the wife on the back because I didn't plan it well and make a decision early enough at a junction to stop and then when practicing for my IAM test seeing how slow and how tight I could turn. Ooops😁. Never mind engine bars are your friend. Great to hear what Sue thought if the new bike, will she stay with Triumph next time round do you think?
I had an old 1200 R - my most dropped bike 😱 dropped it with my girlfriend on the back 😩 haven’t got the bike or the girlfriend now 😂👏👏 - Sue still loves the triumph so I’m sure she’ll stay with the brand! 👍😀
Hi Rana, thanks so much for your comments! I am very lucky to have such a great partner to ride with and we loved riding in Spain in October! Have you seen our Spanish videos yet?
Funny how there both actually 800cc despite f700gs tiger 800 in name. Strange now the t800 felt lighter i found it really top heavy like i was going to drop the bike at any moment. Also it would feel faster with 20hp extra
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries I've dropped mine twice. Once when i first stalled the first time wile turning, Second time on a really strange slope that went steep uphill and then had a camber to the left. The bike was fine i actually got to put it down gently as i still had hold of it just not in the right place to take and the hold the weight. Think it's taught me how it plays when it wants a lye down.

@@midlifemotorcyclediaries you should have a look at the r1200r as it's really just like a GS but for short legged riders😂, so not as tall or top heavy as the GS, same engine etc but just made for road riding👍
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦 I am seriously thinking of changing my Kawasaki Versys 1000 that I love to death, I did wonderful trips but I am looking for something with as much reliability, power and most of all comfort. I mainly do long camping travel, I need a bike that will haul all my gear. Thanks for the review.
Hi Nathalie, thanks very much for watching! The Tiger 800 has more than enough power for me, I’m not familiar with the Versys, but I’ve been really happy with the 800’s performance- having said that, I’ve tested the new 900 and decided that it has as much power and performance and seems a little lighter so it might be my next bike - either would be a good choice 😀 Good luck and thanks for watching! 👍😀 PS when Bri did the Pan American trip he loved Canada!
Have you got the seat in the low position because on the video it does not look like you have just thought I would mention this to you just in case you did not know about being able to change the seat height they are two positions on it. I have the xrt way self
Your Riders seat on the lower setting at the front end but on the higher setting at the rear end. If you drop the rear end the riders seat will be lower than the pillion seat. In the video it is flush with the Pillion seat which is more pleasing to the eye, however.@@midlifemotorcyclediaries

Very helpful video. As a fellow midlife convert, I'm also interested in the Tiger 800, but am getting some prohibitive insurance quotes . This is partly because I've only just passed my test, so have no NCD, but I wondered if you had the same problem, and if you have any tips for getting past this barrier?
Hi Mark. Thanks for your note. I bought my insurance through Devitt. I had looked at others but found Devitt most competitive. I’m touring Wales at the moment so can’t access the invoice but it’s worth having a look on line or giving them a call. I’ve had my Tiger a while now and have done 3500 miles. Really great bike!! Happy Biking👍🏍
Shame about triumph customer service it can be shocking, Stuart Fillingham who has a great bike channel on here had a horrible experience with his triumph T120 bonnie and gearbox issues which they didn't want to address, in fact he said on a recent video that tho he loves the bike his relationship with them is dead!
That’s a shame, Kevin. I really think peoples perception of service is entirely down to the last person that dealt with them. We’ve had a great experience with the service people at Blade in Cheltenham but my experience with the sales guy lost my business for ever. Pure Triumph in Wellingborough has been great every time but Dom, our sales guy has now left so we’ll have to see how it goes in the future. Thanks for watching our vids. ☺️👍Sue

@@midlifemotorcyclediaries We have the weather we have the roads but French bikers do not go in for the bike/cafe culture. Watched this and fair play to you both. But a 700 got about 70hp. For the rides you vlog. More than adequate for virtually everything. Must be noce to change just because you can. My honda cb750 k4 was 70hp and 125mph in 1978. This constant upsizing of bikes/cars is unnecessary imo. Not criticising but so many vloggers who think 70hp aint enough. Bikes are more capable than them
😂 Bet your tiger didn’t like diesel, Stuart 😬Hope it wasn’t too expensive to sort out. I’ve decided that a bike which is three times my weight will win every time if it decides to fall so thank goodness I have crash bars ☺️Ride safe and thank you for watching our adventures 👍🏍🏍

Thanks very much Andrew! Really appreciate your comments - I’m learning all the time and loving every minute of it! 😀
Great job! A practical review, from a semi-experienced rider, not from some pro rider whos skills are seldom used by the average rider. Sir, you are very fortunate that the misses enjoys owning/riding a bike. Great job young lady! The eyes of Texas are upon you. :-)
2 wheels down......throttle twisted.......happy!!
Well done, everyone drops there bikes, they’re heavy beasts and we all loose our balance and footing from time to time . Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks David! The extra crash bars were a good investment! 😂 once it’s past its tipping point 🤷♂️! Bri told me he dropped his bikes lots of times 😩 it won’t stop me - thanks for watching! 😀👍

Well done Sue!, a great story, very encouraging, and admirable, clear and informative commentary, really like your style,no gimmicks just being down to Earth and just tell it as it is,everyone on a bike makes mistakes including dropping the bike, I have, lol. so has many others i know,😁...but you do learn from it,
So glad you guys do a great job in your filming and commentary, trust me it all truly is a joy to watch.👏🏽👏🏽.. as you know riding a bike is very therapeutic as we see the world from a different perspective,we are out there with the elements and it does make all the difference to your senses, smell, and reaction to things, riding a bike switches on all your your nerves... and like I have said watching you guys,on my TV is a very therapeutic way to spend my afternoon ,so once again thank you very much indeed, long may you both live, God bless, stay safe and continue to ride good.👌🏽💯👍🏽😁
What a lovely message, Stan. Thank you so much. Bri and I are so happy that you love watching the videos. We can’t wait to be out there making more memories and sharing them. Here’s to a great year for riding - and reminiscing over videos 😉Wishing you and your family the very best for 2021. Sue

You have a wonderful wife. She puts across her points really well and a refreshing video almost interview like. Im a fan

@@tomxrt2650 Congratulations on being a blood biker 👍 you do an amazing job! 👏👏👏

Thanks Sue
I do feel that I’m probably a lot more responsible than I would have been 20/30 years ago, god time flies.

Biao Dong Thanks for your comments 🙏! You’re right, it is important to be humble and be prepared to learn again with a new bike! 😀👍
Midlife Motorcycle Diaries if I may ask, why did Sue prefer tiger over F850gs? If it was considered as an option
Biao Dong Thanks for your question - the 850gs wasn’t really an option for Sue as it is just too tall and also the Tiger was better equipped with a taller screen and heated seats.
Always find it strange to watch my local roads/garages on youtube! new subscriber, and loving your content (from another midlife biker)

Good stuff but if we must have backing "music" can we have some that does not sound as if it is being played backwards please?
Thanks Paul! You’re right about the music - my apologies - it was a bad choice 😩 but many thanks for watching! 😀👍
have the same bike. the color too. its a great bike..i love it..
Thank you! It is a great bike and I’ve had some brilliant tours on it! Thanks for watching!
Well done, I still struggle with U turns, you make it look easy.

Very good decision, we love the Tiger too (xCA-800, in our case)
We found the same problem while dropping the bike😇
There is a kit in GB available, to move the Indikator to a less exposed position, including a new additional small indicator for the original position.
Thanks very much! Sue loves her Tiger! Thanks for watching! 😀👍
Sue 👍🏍
Sue,
I feel your pain in dropping the bike.......me.....well I'm only 5ft 8 and 11 stone wet through.......so naturally I went and got myself a nice lightweight bike..........a BMW 1150GS!!........so a few weeks later I had the wife on the back, panniers and top box, fully laden with petrol.......out with the UKGSER forum crew near Hawes......came to a stop on a small lane......uphill.......uneven road surface......steep camber.........me.......stops bike.......puts leg out to reach the ground.......which isn't there........the bike...starts to topple over......the wife somehow managed to get off the bike before it hit the ground.......luckily I had invested in crash bars which limited the damage........don't ask me how, but I managed to pick the bike up on my own and wheel it to even ground.
Great review. I love the tiger 🥰
Thank you! Sue loves her Tiger and it was definitely the right choice! Thanks for watching! 👍😀
You look a lovely couple and your content is well edited, I felt like I was watching TV.
Thanks very much Joey! Really appreciate your comments and thanks for watching! 😀👍
loved your comments! having ridden for 50 + yrs almost every brand & size out there i can verify , dropping yer bike is no big deal, the wife & I were having dinner and the bike was out front where I could watch it, upon leaving my wife climbed on behind me, i fired it up waited until it was warmed bit knowing others were watching as " we were Cool , in our leathers " started off and 2 inches later the front disc lock I had failed to remove did its job . stopped dead bike with wife & me now laying on the side , super embarrassed ! oh well not my first or last mishap .
Sue you one cool lady happy riding
Thanks very much! 😀
cool cant wait to do mine
Hi, am a short rider and just want to ask Sue, did she find the weight of the tiger easy enough to walk with and move around?
Hi Matthew, If I’m honest I’ve always avoided walking with the bike and tend to manoeuvre it while I’m sitting on it. (I’m 5’6” - long legs, short torso) I’ve always been a bit apprehensive about dropping it but it is something I need to practice. The bike is lighter than the 800 and the weight is lower down, which helps a lot but it’s still significantly heavier than me, so getting use to walking with it is something I need to do. Thanks for watching our adventures ☺️👍🏍

@@midlifemotorcyclediaries I've dropped mine twice.

Hi Mal, that’s a bummer having a wife who’s not keen 😩 has she tried pillioning? In winter we keep riding in unless it’s really bad. Love to follow the sun if we could 😀👍🥵
Midlife Motorcycle Diaries Many years ago and I mean many she did , but my mistake was I had a long break without and now my bike is not a welcome addition. Ahh well gotta make do if I am desperate nothing will stop me getting out haha .
Estoy igual, tengo una f650gs y busco el siguiente paso, creo que esa Tiger es la mejor opción.
Hola Andres! el tigre es un gran siguiente paso! 😀👍
Well done... really enjoy your channel, bit jealous as my wife isn't into bikes which is a shame as I have a few including a Tiger 900 Gt Pro...
One criticism... oh my god that irritating background music I would rather listen to the exhaust and road traffic😃
Thanks Patrick! I know I’m very lucky to have a wife who shares my passion for bikes - hopefully riding a Triumph GT Pro soon 🤞 Apologies for the music 😩! Thanks for watching! 👍😀
Nice colour on a nice bike. Its not a adventure bike if you havent dropped it😊
Thanks Toby! Well it’s certainly an adventure bike now! 😂
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries your very welcome. 😊. And a great bike name. 👍🏻😀 Have not name my tiger yet,🤔 only had it for 5 months. My old vstrom was named Dame Edna by CaptainCranky (youtuber) do to the looks of the headlights... 😀 Ride safe
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries Thanks that's really helpful. Enjoy the rest of your trip! 👍🏼
☺️👍Sue
Sorry I had to laugh out loud when you traded the BMW in.
Out of that enormous top box came your ' Giant handbag ' priceless.
Typical English Lady .
Ride safe .....
😀Thank you for watching, Jan. It’s very important to have somewhere to carry your giant handbag 👜 👍😂
Real good vid but music still hurting my old ears.😁
Thanks very much Darren! I agree 😀 it was some time ago- some of that music hurts my ears now 😱 - wouldn’t use it now! 😀👍
Wish I had a fiver for every bacon sandwich I have eaten at the sausage with my pals.
Best biking Café! Certainly our favourite! 😀👍🏍
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries We have the weather we have the roads but French bikers do not go in for the bike/cafe culture. We have a cafe quite nearby where the owner has Triumph his brother / inlaw over the road has an hotel has a Harley and the only time you see a host of bikes is when they have a little bike exhibition in the sea side village once a year. Odd! No Super Saucisse, and of course no "real"bacon here either.
Yes I would miss the biker/cafe culture too!
Sue never gave the 700 a name. So of course she decided on the Tiger because it comes with a name.. Proper girly lol.. Does she have a sister. Haha. Just asking 😁😁😁😁😁🏍️🏍️🏍️.
Shhh. Don't tell my Paula that I asked..
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😁😁😁
😂😂😂
Dilshad pthan hii
Watched this and fair play to you both. But a 700 got about 70hp. For the rides you vlog. More than adequate for virtually everything. Must be noce to change just because you can. My honda cb750 k4 was 70hp and 125mph in 1978. This constant upsizing of bikes/cars is unnecessary imo.
Not criticising but so many vloggers who think 70hp aint enough. Bikes are more capable than them
Thank you Michael - you’re absolutely right, bikes are far more capable than most riders 👍 😀
Great video shame about the bloody music.
Thanks John! Apologies for the music! 😩 but thanks for watching! 👍😀
Liking your videos,but....PLEASE, the background "music" is dire, no need for it, just noise pollution.👎
Thanks very much and apologies for the music! 😩
I dont know anyone who hasn't dropped there bike , but I know some idiot who put diesel in his tiger 1200 !! Me 😃😃😃
😂 Bet your tiger didn’t like diesel, Stuart 😬Hope it wasn’t too expensive to sort out. I’ve decided that a bike which is three times my weight will win every time if it decides to fall so thank goodness I have crash bars ☺️Ride safe and thank you for watching our adventures 👍🏍🏍
An otherwise good and informative video spoilt by annoying music (if that's what you can call it)
Thanks very much Michael! Sorry about the music - if I did it now it would be much better! 😀👍
@@midlifemotorcyclediaries Thank you for your courteous reply. I'm sure if you polled your subscribers and viewers, you would find a high percentage not in favour of music, full stop. What is better than the sound of a triple or the BMW boxer. Add in some commentary, and you possibly have the ultimate sound track.
You both have a passion for life, just turn the music volume down - or off!
Triumph never been BMW. 😉
Thanks Zelimir! 😀👍
