I don't remember seeing how the floor grate came out in a later video? Perhaps an easy target would be an update on the sauna. And after all, it is winter so perfect time for firing ut up as well ;-) I am looking at an empty spot beside the house here.. which would be perfect for a sauna. But unfortunately no pond so will have to make do with some other way to take the cold bath.
if you apply the "nut-feder" vertically instead of horizontally - you could save time and probably wood because you would have equal lengths of the nut feder rods all over the sauna (but the ceiling, maybe). I prefer also removable benches and floor decks and not fixed, so you may take them out and wash them and the floor in the bottom of them which get very dirty (and may even stink...) with time due to the sweat. These are suggestions for your next sauna. By now you made a nice job. Yossi Behagen, Danmar - Finnsauna, Israel
i alwaya thought that using rope in a sauna was a bad idea. I thought it would get moist/wet, get heavy and then starting to hang. How did it work out?
This is beautiful. I always dreamed of having a sauna and steam room in my home but I never see videos on yt about it so thanks for making these videos 😊
Hi, I know this is hella old, but I thought I'd ask everywhere; in part 1 you mount the FF-PIR insulation, then you put up the standers and screw those directly into the FF-PIR plates - is this a correct observation? I thought you would have to use screws deep enough to go through the insulation and into the wall at the back? Are the PIR plates really strong enough to carry all that load by themselves?
Nice job!! Thank u so much for sharing!! I have a rare form of arthritis and autoimmune disease. I steam sauna really helps me. Wanting to build one in my basement. U make it look so doable!! Awesome work!!
Looks beautiful and cozy, big enough to lay if you're alone and enough room for a couple of friends to join too. I like the very stable steps, that is important in a sauna. I'd like to see the finished benches.
Never wear a necklace in a sauna. A friend was leaning forward for some time, with his cross dangling in front of his chest. When he straitened up he let out a yelp, the cross had branded itself to his chest!
Are your interior boards pine? I'm building a sauna right now and am debating whether to use pine or cedar for my interior boards. Cedar is a bit more moisture resistant but much more expensive and harder to work with. I'm interested in your opinion about the interior boards and if you think pine would hold up well. Great videos!
I heard the water sizzling but I never saw any steam until you went outside. If you're happy with it, it must be working ok, it looks good , I hope you are able to enjoy it for many years to come.
It's working well. We got it up to 100 degrees Celsius yesterday. Seven hours later it still had 40 degrees Celsius in there. Holds the warmth pretty well too.
Great, I'm glad it turned out well for you. You didn't try to go in it at 100 C did you, that is 212 F I think you would not live long in that sort of temp, that is the temp that water boils at.
If I recall correctly the Aspen siding was around 621 EUR + the inner diffusion proof foil laminated special SPU sauna panels around 300 EUR, not including my own labor and the Aspen seat material I cut. Time frame was a couple of weeks since I'm slow. :D
Beautiful Sauna! I like the rope in the corners. Did you leave a gap behind your wall for air flow behind the T&G planks and is the rope there to allow venting?
You can use pine on the walls you don't touch since it will produce sticky sap when heated. So using spruce, pine etc is not recommended. Aspen and Alder is preferred since these species are clean and do not emit any vapors or fluids when heated. But I'm no expert, I searched for the info I could and did accordingly.
Could you tell us how long time take you to get the sauna ready? I mean, you would start to fire wood into the stove until...? Another question: why the stove tube in angle and not straight on to the ceiling? thanks you
Just saying that maybe cover the heat shield screws? I have heard a story that they may conduct so much heat that screws may ignite the wood behind the shield. Great build anyways!
Now that is one hot sauna !!! and one very cool project.... After a Hard day hauling logs now you can sweat your ass off !?!? As always - awesome build !!!

Великолепная работа и замечательная сауна! (Great job and great sauna!)
Чем она замечательная? Может тем, что она из осп сделана? А может тем, что утеплена пенополистиролом?
Хотя внешняя маскировка отличная, согласен.
Полки не правильно сделали! Должен быть зазор между вагонкой!

Nice work. I suggest to get some 'sauna wax' on the big boards after they are dried. Protects the wood from human sweat and other dirt/moisture.
how long did it take you in total ?

Did he tin-solder the wire? I thought I was the only one who does it and use wire caps.
Fantastic job Donn. 👍👍

Niice! loved the benches! What is the material you used for insulation behind the heater, that you're cutting in min 6:24?
Do you have a video how to turn shower to steam sauna ?

Looks cold out there ;)
It was around 6 degrees Celsius outside. The water temperature also has dropped below 10 degrees I guess. So it's pretty refreshing.
What kind of screws and corner supports did you use? Was it stainless steel? or regular ones?
Вагонка 😍

Sauna Satu is made for saunas, so it was just right.

В России полки из доски липы110*35 делают, тут может и липа но целая необрезная доска, её от температуры не порвёт?

Could you tell us how long time take you to get the sauna ready? I mean, you would start to fire wood into the stove until...?

An hour and a half up to 90 degrees.
That is one beautiful sauna, I really like how you did the lights! Um, question.... Noticed the ring, did you just get married?
Yes. In August. ;)

Fein oscillating multi tool. Cuts great!

Another great video man, keep up the hard work my friend 👍 !!
Thanks for coming back to watch what I build and upload. :D You keep the wheels turning!
Hi Donn, great job. Can I ask what the dimensions are for your sauna room? What do you think the minimum size should be for a six person sauna?
One person would need at least 500 mm of sitting space, so it's almost two feet, multiplied by six makes it 6x2 feet seat width. :D
Please tell me where is this place..i mean which country... fabulous location..
Estonia.
Just saying that maybe cover the heat shield screws? I have heard a story that they may conduct so much heat that screws may ignite the wood behind the shield. Great build anyways!
