Oh my word I just made this! I’ve been needing a clean keto hot chocolate and this COULD NOT BE BETTER! It’s Fabulous!!! ❤❤❤
Victoria, did you use your keto milk? I love it!
Thanks!
I bought Scharffenberger and Guittard cocoa powder and baking bars when they were in the stores this christmas to experiment with making a drinking chocolate. Will need to make up four batches-one all Scharffenberger, one all Guittard, one all Ghirardelli, and one with Hershey’s cocoa matched with Baker’s chocolate-and run some taste tests. What I’ve learned so far from just using 1T cocoa powder and 1T allulose in my cup to make hot cocoa is that a plant milk just isn’t necessary. I mix the powders in my mug, hydrate them and mix into a paste with 1T heavy cream, then add boiling water from the kettle and use my milk frother to make it all creamy. The Hershey’s powder needs some help with a couple nuggets of cocoa butter thrown in, but it has just half the fat that the premium cocoa powders do so that isn’t surprising. Sometimes anise extract is a nice add-in.
They are all very good quality ingredients, I think you could easily just make the mix and be happy with it.
I'm guessing you don't need milk because you add heavy cream.
WOW! Never thought to add anise to hot cocoa! Can’t wait to try it! 😋
@AllDayIDreamAboutFood I have organic cacao powder, would this work with the same measurements?
I always have heavy cream on hand for coffee so thank you for this tip!.
For a little extra kick use brewed coffee YUM
Yup, tasty stuff!
I appreciate the realism--difficulties and how you worked through them. 😊
Hey, I am nothing if not real. LOL!
Thanks! Can't wait to try it!
Looks really delicious!
I’ve been wanting this recipe! Can’t wait to try it!
Thank you so much for this ❤
So yummy! Thank you!
woo hoo I must try this, you did great!!
Sooo good!!! Not too sweet and very, very smooth. Great chocolate flavor!
Thank you!! This will be a special treat these cold winter days!!
Thank you so much for this Carolyn!!!
Welcome!
I made this and I want to thank you for sharing this recipe because I’m in love with it.
I made this and it's yummy!
Thank you for this recipe. It is very good! I have many of your books and every one I have tried has been great.
I knew you would come out with this!! I’ll be making some soon. This looks wonderful. I just bought 2 jars of allulose so I’m set. Happy New Year to you and your family. I look forward to your new content this year.
Yum! Good thing it’s shopping day! Thanks Carolyn ❤
Enjoy!
Thank u so very much! Yum yum
I can't quite express how grateful I am. I am from India, and thank you for this mix
Hey! This looks soo yummy 😮❤ I will try this. 😊 Love from UK x
Delicious, must give this one a go :) Thanks so much for sharing xx
Can’t wait to try this! And I just got a little milk frother that works wonders in my coffee, & should be fabulous for hot cocoa too!
Thank you so much! this is fantastich!
Sending you greetings from the Netherlands
Love all your recipes, Carolyn!!! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I have spent so much money on so many different sugar free hot chocolate mixes and they just are horrible. Excited to mix this up today before the below zero temps hit tomorrow.
Yum yum yum. Btw your hair style is adorable. Going to make this!
Finally a simple & delicious hot chocolate recipe! Didn’t use the collagen but it turned out great 2:23 .
Thanks so much!
Enjoy your channel & variety of recipes 👍
I use half heavy cream and water.
This is delish. I use my electric milk frother to mix it comes out really foamy but use an extra tall container or it will whip it out of a cup. YUM thank you!
Dear Carolyn, You look fabulous, Your hair looks really good and what an amazing color on you. A big fan here, We met 7 years ago in SF, on your book tour. Your recipes are a permenant part of low carb style.
SOOOO delicious !! Even my 11y daughter wanted a mug of it !!
Hi Caroline!!!watching from Quebec Canada 🇨🇦Happy New Year!!🤗💫✨
Happy new year!
My second comment on the deliciousness of this recipe. Add one tablespoon to a cup of fresh brewed coffee for a mocha drink. Thanks again.
Wow! What an amazing treat! This is better than regular Cocoa by far!❤️😋
Thank you!
Just made it up. I used full fat canned milk, about 3 tablespoons and hot water like you do with old fashioned cocoa. Turned out great.
I was so excited to try your recipe. I just bought the usweetened chocolate today. I have tried so many horrible cocoa recipes; but this one is wonderful. THANK YOU! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! You are a wonder!!!
I am so glad to hear it!
Hi Carolyn, this mix was much tastier than the low carb hot chocolate powder mix I bought, I had a fine sugar free chocolate of 90% cocoa that worked amazingly in this hot chocolate powder mix. This recipe is also good for me because I have lactose intolerance ! I made it once with lactose-free milk and once with almond milk, both hot drinks were so delicious. You made me happy, thank you . By the way, your videos are also ..fantastic, so I'm subscribe To this channel ..
❤️😋!
I use a pure unsweetened chocolate block from Willies Cacao (I’m in the uk, not sure if it’s available in the us) and when I put it in chilli I use a fine grater…I’d do that with this mix, then just stir well with a balloon whisk. Save all the processor dust 😄 I like the flavour variations with this too!
Sounds great!
Why am I watching this and why was this recommended to me? I just started a 3-day waterfast and today is day 1. 😫
This looks so delicious. 🤤 After I break my fast, it's hot chocolate time.
vanilla powder works great as well!
It does, but it's often far more expensive than vanilla extract.
This turned out very well, I used Jay Rob Egg white powder in place of the collagen & only 1/4c of monkfruit powdered sweetener, no salt of course. Thank you, very good recipe & with added cream may not even need the protein powder. I am in UK
I make something very similar, but add the spoonfuls of cocoa etc to a mug as the milk is heating..add a tiny bit of cold milk to the mug to make a paste then the hot milk..or half milk half water..but if your organised..this way is probably better.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was shopping at Amazon for some sugar free/keto hot cocoa and I actually saw one for like $48! Thank you again. That's looks so good.
😮 That's insane!
so delicious. i don't need swissmiss any more.
Love love love collagen powder both unflavored and chocolate!
Great to hear!
Can't wait to make with my cinnamon extract instead of the vanilla. Gonna be awesome!!!
Excellent idea!
Sounds yummy! Couldn't tell you the last time I had a hot chocolate. It's been years and years.
Enjoy!
I’m from the UK 🇬🇧. We find it hard to source all your Keto ingredients, but this one I managed. This has to be the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had. Thank you from me and my sweet tooth.
Glad you found comparable ingredients!
I’m so happy to find your channel😊 I am a type 2 diabetic & I love hot chocolate so this recipe is one I will definitely make. I have made several of your recipes & they are absolutely delicious. The next one I’m going to try is your keto crackers because I love to snack on cheese & crackers too. Thank you so much Carolyn, for all of the time & effort you’ve taken to create these wonderful recipes oh & by the way my name is Carolyn too. 😀 Have a lovely day 😀
Thanks so much!
Thank you! I have been wanting to try to make my own but hate wasting ingredients on experimenting.
The great part about this is that you can even adjust it after the fact. Too sweet? Add a bit more of the other ingredients. Not sweet enough? Stir more sweetener into the mix.
I make this year round!
Great to hear!
Carolyn! Yummy yum! I will be making this and then on to the pancakes! 🤤 ............................... 😎👍👍
Hope you enjoy
I boil water and after using whipping cream about 1/3 c, add the water, I love it and no dirty pots!
Great tip!
❤ Thanks
I made this - without the collagen. I used Half & Half for the milk.
OMG! It was so good!
It was sweeter than I would prefer, but that is easy to fix. I used powdered vanilla, which might have contributed to the extra sweetness.
I’ve been in the mood for hot chocolate lately, so this was timely.
Yes, you can easily adjust the sweetener. At this point, you could even add a little more cocoa powder to cut the sweetness!
Nice recipe, thanks! I would add a dash of salt as well - and personally, I'd also add some instant coffee for a mocha flavor. :)
Ooooo
Thanks for this recipe! Most premade mixes contain stevia which causes me to have migraines so I run from them!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for this recipe! I love, love, love it. I have made two batches; the first one has unflavored collagen protein and I use it with HWC & water (coffee), and the second batch I substituted my favorite chocolate protein powder (Equip) for the collagen. Both batches are great with a little HWC and water/coffee. Also, I found if I finely grated my chocolate bar, I could mix the batch with a hand whisk - less messy for me. Love your recipes and appreciate your time and effort to bring us great recipes and videos!!!
That's a great tip!
Yours is 100% the best keto hot chocolate mix I've tried. I like it with keto marshmallows in it.
You read my mind. Hot cocoa was my daily treat at bedtime. But the options available are awful. I attempted to do the copycat swiss miss recipe. It was better than everything I tried and helped me realize I was overshooting the amount of cocoa required. Making it keto left it lacking big time in creaminess. I can't wait to try your version and maybe get my nightly treat back. 😊
Enjoy!
Yummmm! Love your recipes and used many or variations according to Australian equivalent ingredients. While I am nearly always happy with my efforts I live alone. Making 2, 4 or more servings at a time I tend to freeze leftovers for another time. I nearly always find that freezing most things is a disappointment when I use them again. The worst is pasta and pasta dishes like lasagne, nearly always throw them out as they are tough and dry. Would appreciate info on recipes I can make and freeze that are still edible the second time round. Have been living a keto lifestyle for over 2 years, lost 25 kilos and reversed diabetes. Just want to know what I can cook and freeze, particularly main meals and snacks. Have plenty of treat/sweet foods that freeze well but struggle with my meals.
Yum😋
Hot chocolate is so quickly drank by me that I gave up putting all this work into it 😞 but by all means If you love hot chocolate and you don't drink it that fast put the effort in! I still say Carolyn's is great! For me, I'm easily entertained by two heaping scoops of vital proteins chocolate collagen with stevia top off with two to four tablespoons of heavy whipping cream and two drops of trader Joe's organic stevia. I'm in heaven lol
I like mine with a little cinnamon and instead of milk I use heavy cream and water.
Amazing recipe - truly love them all. I appreciate that you are not hard selling products like so many YT'ers eventually do. Hope you are ignoring the Keto Police who seem to have rung in the New Year with a vengeance. 😂
The keto police are always out with a vengeance! 🤣 FYI... I do some sponsored videos too. Gotta pay the bills and these vids are a lot of work! But I try not to do it too often.
@@AllDayIDreamAboutFood you seem to strike the right balance with sponsorship to me. Thanks again!
I make a simple cacoa drink in morning . 1 tablespoon of organic baking cacoa with 1 tablespoon of Monkfruit sweetener and 2 tablespoons of coconut cream . Blend with coffee frother . Simple and easy and all products from Costco . I would use Allulose but not easily available in Canada . The online price for the small amount of Allulose is way too much .
Thanks I was wondering how coconut milk or cream would do. Do you think heavy whipping cream would work?
It would work great and my puppy would like a puppachino please@@grainiac7824
Yes, the pre-made mixes are CRAZY expensive.
Thank you for this! I have been craving some healthy hot chocolate. I don’t keep milk in the house I wonder if this could be made with heavy cream and water? Worth a try :)
How much unsweetened chocolate are you adding?
It shows on her website that she added two ounces.
Mix nut milk and heavy cream in a 3 to 1 ratio and it is perfect to make KETO hot cocoa.
I just make hot water , teaspoon cocoa powder, one pkg stevia. Then a teaspoon butter and a slash of half and half
Great! But mine is portable, something you can take wherever you go. Also... most people detest stevia so I think mine probably tastes better. :)
Can I use unflavored gelatin Knox original) instead of the collagen?
Can I use Splenda in this?
Where can I purchase Allulose?
Have you tried KOS organic coconut milk powder in a dry mix? Only 1 ingredient (no fillers)! This is what I use in my keto instant hot chocolate mix. Just coconut milk powder, cocoa powder, sweetener and a little salt.
I tried another brand of coconut milk powder. Yuck, not for me. :) I am very happy with this recipe as is.
YUM! Absolutely correct!
I agree having ready made cocoa mix is a must have!!
I am dairy free & love the convenience of having it ready to go so I put coconut milk pwd in & it tastes great.
I still use coconut milk to make & strong coffee most often 😍
I also use pwd vanilla bean & finely ground Maldon smoky salt for an extra exquisite flavor.
I am able to get a homogeneous mix by just sifting them together when using the pwd vanilla but I don't use the chocolate bar either. 🤔
?? Maybe the coconut milk pwd brings enough fat??
Plus the choc collagen I use has MCT oil pwd & acacia fiber so it still tastes fatty enough.
Thank You for sharing Your brilliant kitchen science magic!! YOU ROCK #1!
Glad it works for you. I did not like the taste of powdered coconut milk.
@@AllDayIDreamAboutFood I have found like everything, all coconut milk pwds are not the same. 😉
Maybe You will find one that works for You... but if it ain't broke - don't fix it 🤓😍🖖🏼
What is low carb milk?
Lo que es un chocolate de toda la vida, sustituyendo el azúcar por edulcorantes 🤷♀️
Can't wait to try it! Question: I have two different bags of unopened "Collagen Peptides" that I have not tried yet. Can collagen peptides be used instead of plain collagen powder? Or are they the same thing?
Same thing! It's all hydrolyzed collagen (makes it easier to digest). You will see it called collagen, collagen protein powder, or collagen peptides.
@@AllDayIDreamAboutFood Thank you so much! Love you!
Fairlife milk for me
Could I use powdered vanilla?
Certainly! It just tends to be more expensive.
🎉🎉
I'm in Canada where can I get the allulose from?
TFS
You are so welcome
Could you please do a 'you' version of Banoffee pie. For the life of me, I cannot find a keto-friendly version and all the toffee sauces that are shown run rather than set. I am sure you would know how to do it. Thank you.
is there anycaffinp
Looks yummy
And now just to plop a few of your keto marshmallows on top.
Perfection!
CAN i use almond milk?
that's what I use
You said low carb milk, I’ve never hear if low carb milk?
@alldayidreamaboutfood, what milk alternative did you use. I want a more neutral taste than almond milk. TIA 😊
I don't know what brand you're using but I find little to no taste from almond milk. But hemp milk or macadamia milk are also great options.
You forgot to add a dash of cinammon on top of the whipped cream..😊😊
A tasty option!
A little cayenne pepper x
🙏❤️
Could you use HWC and water?
Yup.
I ran out of almond milk one day and added water and almond flour in my blender. Ta da! Almond milk! I don’t know how much I used, I kept adding both until I had the taste I wanted. Do you think there’s a way we could do something like that with this recipe?
You can certainly add it as the milk but I think adding the almond flour to the recipe itself would result in a terrible texture.
🤤🍫🤤
I just use sugar free cocoa powder (dark) and hot milk of your choice ……..can use some hot water mixed in to your own taste. I don’t use any sweetener’s…….as I don’t really like it sweet.
Do what works for you!
i also do not like powdered hwc. It makes my coffee taste yucky/dusty
