Valuable real-use info, thank you. Yes, regarding grip, the 'FG' in the name stands for 'firm ground', so not designed toward deeper, slippy, mud-snow stuff. I chose the Forest ESCs with the luggier tread for that reason. You may know already, but Vivo has a re-sole/refurbish program you may be interested to use. They're big on keeping what they can out of landfills.
These are my go to boots. I live rural and all of my walks are trail mud tracks long grass etc. mine are also 2+ years old and the tread is wearing as one would expect. But the uppers on mine still look good and not scuffed - I do regularly treat them with boot polish. I brush dirt off after every walk and let the boots air dry (removing insoles if it’s been wet) then I polish them using a standard wax boot polish. The result is mine are still looking good and 100% waterproof. They do come up a bit small compared to other Vivobarefoot boots and as they don’t do half sizes some might want to go up one size if wearing thick socks. My feet don’t sweat in them in warmer temperatures but I wear Injinji toe socks. Agree about the eye watering price - I bought an additional pair in the sale for £90 when my current ones wear out, but I’ll get them re-soled before then.
Thanks for making this review, you confirmed what I suspected in that they aren't great in slippery conditions, I have Primus Trails which use essentially the same sole and I'm looking for something similarly flexible for hiking in. I think I'm just gonna have to suck it up and get the Tracker Forest or Magna Forest!
I am still looking for that perfect boot. Have been wearing crispi boots while in the mountains the last years and I love them, but I like the idea of getting more ground-feel, and I suppose I can use these in the city during winter in Norway. The prize is a bit off-putting though. In my last 350 km hike in the mountains I used new Altra Olympus 5 MID and they pinched my heel a lot and created blisters and tendon problems. In addition, they got totally wrecked from that one 350 km trip and the laces didnt hold up either.
those are nice boots man, i might look into them for sure...Also, check out the Nylon Thin Dress socks if you haven't yet but they work very well during long hikes , 100%
Amazing review. Just what I was looking for. Great image quality and fitting background too! I wanna get those for hiking in snow/mud, but the grip is a concern. Maybe I should go for the ESCs but I just love the way the Trackers look.
@@MaxOrDieYT Yeah I've seen people say that. They should have some natural water resistance but that is a big problem if you're going in the snow and slush. Such an amazing sole wasted. I did get the Tracker 2s in the end but the toe box is too narrow for me so I'll have to return them..
@@MaxOrDieYT True, they are rated 'water resistant'. I have hiked through streams in mine with no wet feet. And being leather, they can be re-treated as needed.
@@CptAngelADVlogs damn. I have a extra wide toebox area and was hesitating to buy the Trackers 2 (Although the ESC seemed better suited but narrower so I was trying to give up on them for this reason) but you kinda confirm what I was afraid of : Trackers 2 might also be too narrow as well. Where could people like us find shoes wide enough on this market...? 😞
Hello, a very good review. I have been looking for information about this brand. I think I'll take a few more reviews. Then go and try them on. Take care.
Just picked up a pair of these preowned, very excited to get them (they're worn but look in good nick and it helped with the price). I'll be wanting to pick up some boot wax; is there any particular type you'd recommend for these? (I usually don't fork out for leather boots so this is new to me)
Has anyone outside of the UK had any experience repairing these boots (or Vivo in general)? I read on their website that you can’t send them in to get a new sole put on if you live outside of the UK. I wrote to the company asking if they sell the sole separately but I’m waiting for a response.
Awesome review have you purchased the second version or do you only own the first?? I’m wondering if they fit the same as I only have access to getting the newer version. I just bought the leather Forrest ESC yesterday, but noticed they fit a little differently than the normal tracker! The leather on the ESC definitely gives you a little bit more room inside. I went with a 43 on esc but felt a 43 was more snug on the tracker 2! So basically, I’m in between sizes on that that’s why I’m wondering how the original version fit! Any help at all would be greatly appreciated great review

Thank you! This is what a review should be. All the relevant information is provided - no filler, no touting of the product or brand. Just honesty.

ESCs aren’t water proof btw

Had mine for 3 weeks and the sole started to come away from the upper a shame because after 2 weeks I found them very comfortable.
did you find an alternative?
@@hurpaderpp yes I got a refund and got the
Tracker Forest Esc
@@andrewmusselwhite9458 and those have been fine? I dont know if I would want to buy from the same company selling 300$ shoes that come unglued
Does FG stand for firm ground ????

This boot also has an internal membrane which will break down over time
Great review bud, nicely explained all important facts.👌👌

Hey! Can you use them without the insole?
Good review. Are these the original Tracker FG or Tracker II FGs?
Original. The 2 would be fallen apart already

Have to say I found the FG style has poor durability in a city environment
Seriously? No word about the absolutely terrible membrane?
I will not be paying 250+ euros for shoes with bad grip and waterproof that weakens in couple years.
