My only concern with gusseting a-arms is that they are meant to be a weak point. When you strengthen steering stems and a-arms, the force of a crash or impact is transferred to the frame instead of bending/breaking a bolt-on part. This random thought has been brought to you by Jäegermeister 🤙
Do you find that most frame cracks come from large impacts from trees, other quads, etc.. or are they happening from just running it hard for that long in a race? I’m curious if I need to gusset mine if I’m just trail riding with the occasional jumps here and there. Thanks!
My frame is cracking from the rough tracks. Videos don't really show actually how rough these tracks are and we are moving at a good clip. We pound the piss out of them for 2 hrs at a time. Compared to some other racers, I rarely hit trees. Hitting trees with the front tires will destroy the stock tie rods and a arms. It wouldn't hurt to sleeve the frame rails if your hitting some jumps. I have a stock renegade that I don't ride hard and haven't cracked the frame yet.
Do you happen to know of any company that makes a good set of nerf bars for these? I switched to a 4x4 this season from MX, and hadn't had any issue adjusting my riding style until a race a few weeks ago where a log in the trail caught my toe and twisted my leg around backwards, obviously breaking it.. I'm debating on making my own set that has a kind of raised perimeter to help with things like that getting into the foot well.
No one makes nerf bars for the renegades. I have seen some people retrofit some to fit though. One particular 4x4 racer that goes by J. Philips used to run nerf bars. You might be able to find pics of his quad on the web. That’s sucks that you broke your foot, heal up.
Another great informative video. Keep it up
Great videos. I’ll be doing a frame up build on this quad for XC racing.
Exactly what I been looking for! Love the shop videos man keep ‘em up!
Glad I could help!
Thank you!

If you don’t hit trees you don’t break things!
@@RWF_Racing that’s like saying if you don’t grab too much front brake…you won’t flip. 😜
It will snap the upper a arm mount before it breaks the frame up front. Cost a whopping 14$ from BRP…. It does suck to change tho.
