When the Omens were first introduced, I immediately fell in love with Octrice and Gilnelisse. Now I'm debating whether to build Loot Sword or Disdain Dragon as my first SVE deck...
The skip turn with Marwynn is harsh, but it isn't a deal breaker if you built your deck correctly since you can still play Quick effects. If you're planning to play control with late game wincon like Aegis anyways and already have a Quick like Star Torrent, the turn skip is barely a drawback.
You can always try with Untap or Tabletop Simulator. And if you go to a local, you can either borrow someone's deck or play casuals with proxies (I have played a fully proxy deck to test stuff out before buying).
