If I can offer up one more after spiraling into the wormhole of light novels. The Unwanted Undead Adventurer, Rett is like 30+ when he dies If I'm reading correctly and spends a good portion of the first and second books as a Skeleton then a Ghoul.
Oh! Reborn as a Dragon Hatchling, he's basically a dragon for the entire series its great, I'm waiting for bookwalker to put more of the series on their store so I can buy it. But so far it's pretty fun.
Honestly we need a light novel protagonist who is a Religious Fundamentalist or political extremist, I think that would be interesting even if it was set in a trope-filled power fantasy world. Though a pragmatic religious fanatic MC light novel (or a light novel with an Ascetic* MC) would be ineresting too, what I would really like as well would be if a unique power system or magic system was used in the story like Voodoo, Sewing/Tailoring, Fishing, "Algae Magic", "Drum magic", "Hindu Magic or Hindu mysticism" 🕉, Recycling, "Cannabis magic", "Tree magic", Salt Magic or "Pottery Magic", ETC.
Have you read otherside picnic? It's about a college girl who finds a door leading to another world. She somehow meets up with a blonde haired girl over there and they go on adventures together in what could be considered an scp isekai
Thank you for the recommendations. I think you are the first person who has agreed with my rule of giving preference to female protagonists and mature men to avoid Kiritos and the cliches associated with them. Probably you already know then but you may try any of the FUNA's LN. All have female MCs and are far from being masterpieces but they are fun.
nah, I didn't include overlord, tanya, or slime because they're bigger series people probably think about more often. But it probably woulda been my fifth recommendation if I had included one. for sure
The apothecary diaries are underrated. Really hoping for the anime adaptation.
Yeah! Kinda crazy it doesn't have one yet despite selling so well in JP
This aged well.

I've read that one too!! Pretty fun series and yeah rett definitely acts like someone way more mature than the average LN MC
