@@bahaEpic It's too fast for me to read" is absolutely insane, brother thats why these people should be watching sub if they can't read something that slow
I'm so glad the Overlord adaptation was so bad that it made me read an LN for the first time. Right now it's my favorite medium (out of Anime, Manga and LN)
yes. i read Lord of the mysteries and calling it a masterpiece is an understatement. (dont get discouraged that the first volume is really slow it gets better)
yo this was great, you really showed why there's something special and enjoyable about reading light novels (spoken as fellow literature lover--shout out mishima, but damn u right about being exhausting). love the casual tone, keep it up!
I read a lot of light-/webnovel, currently I am reading LOTM, but I also really like Shadow Slave, really good characters, and most of all Free Fall, a Masterpiece in my eyes, a Tradgedy, fantasy that is all too real, held together by the best fucking character writing I have seen, it's so good that even its reviews are great. And personally I also like Spending My Retirement In A Game.
What the hell the narration at the end was explendid. Very good video, I read re zero and the other day started spice and wolf. I like light novels they can read Soo quickly
Good video 👍. You did great if it was really all in one take. The "simple" editing gave the vid a good amount of comedy and let the vid flow in between points when it'd feel a bit awkward if there was nothing to look at. Even though you got sidetracked at points, the main point,Light Novels can be cool and varied and u enjoy reading them, still came across really well. The section about how an anime chooses to adapt the content of it's source was great. I always love the discussion of how something is translated to a different medium because there can be a lot of different ways to capture the "essence" of the source, it's unfortunate how it can be reduced to "did the things that happened in the source happen in the adaptation" or "was it rushed".This makes me want to read light novels based on shows that never got more seasons.
Really glad you got something out of it! There was def a point when I was like "Are people gonna be able to get something out of this with all these tangents?" So your comment is much appreciated!
@@akileaves2669 The tangents definitely make the video effective. They touch on a lot of things that give more insight in to the appeal of LNs and ties back in to the topic. I liked that you didn't just point towards the most literary or complex examples you could find and use that to show that it can be good. U embrace and talk about all of the sides of the industry, not shying away from the more shallow/corporate aspects of it. You just highlight the good stuff and the stuff of value you can take away from it. 👍👍👍
funnily enough I've never finished an entire long series. Have finished multiple parts of ascendance of a bookworm, season 1 of monogatari, and year 1 of classroom of the elite. but those are only parts of bigger stories
I highly recommend The Lord of the Mysteries. It starts of slow but its only because it mostly world building, foreshadowing and character building. It has a very unique power system and is honestly the best novel i have ever read and im struggling to find something that can come close to it. It is also very long book with over 2 million words in 1430 chapters.
@@juinidepuWell, it isn't really a LN, more a chinese WN. So, you can go in official sites to read it, or find ways to download it. Personnaly, I found a thread on Reddit where someone posted a pdf version of the almost complete version of part 1 (1400 chapters)

Loved this video! I recently finished reading my first LN (Mushoku Tensei), and it left a gaping hole in my heart by its conclusion. Luckily I still got a a few more side stories to go before I truly have to say goodbye, but once I’m done, I’ll know what read next thanks to this video!
I'm thinking about reading the Light novels so are they good? Or should I wait for the anime? (Cause I am starting to see spoilers here and there like there is a rat which is very important in the coming arc idk how and something big related to Roxy might happen soon?) And if I do read the light novel, Should I start from Vol1 cause of the skipped content because I am completely invested and want to get the best experience..
@@HeavanlyTensei Why haven’t you read them already?! Of course you should read them! The anime cuts like 40-50% of the content in the LN! You should absolutely read it ASAP. Def before you hear more about the 🐀. I got spoiled on more important aspect of that before I read it, but it still shocked me. In my case, I binged all 26 vols in 3 weeks, one of the best decision of my life! There are also audiobooks up to vol23 so you can listen to those while or instead of reading if you want. Though I doubt you’ll stop after you get to the last audiobook lol.
@@doodlegame8704 yk what? This has made me quite excited so I'll start from Vol1 and I'll come back here to tell when I have finished the main story and side stories like redundancy etc Thanks for giving the push and hopefully Mushoku Tensei lives upto it's name
@@HeavanlyTensei Have fun! I actually just finished Redundancy and Oblige. Depending on when you finish reading, you may be able to read LN1 for Redundancy instead of the WN. But read at whatever pace works best for you!
My 12 year old actually likes Isekais, and it wasn't my genre preference for the most part unless it's The Cat Returns, or Sword Art Online, but I recently started Dr.Stone, and love that. It doesn't have excessive things other Isekais seem to? I'm open to suggestions on ones having little to no magic or harems, lol. Preferably ones I can watch with my kids, who I got into anime, ages 2-12. They like One Punch Man, MHA, and DBZ, as well as Bofuri, and things like that.
Spent most of my life watching anime. Got hooked on manga in my early teen years to see stories I normally wouldn't and appreciate the differences the original has compared to it's future adaption. A few years later, I'm now in my light novel arc and I'm lovin' it. Strangely, I believe Tanya was one of the first I got! Read quite a lot of the first volume, but I got sick of the 'dry and descriptive' strategy and politics. I think I could've enjoyed spice and wolf as well, but I was put off by the American cover and got bored too. Wanna get back into it sometimes, though. The rest I really love! So I'm a Spider, So What? Mushoku tensei. Overlord. A certain magical index. (Got the massive old testament omnibus 😭 it's amazing). Re zero. Ascendance of a bookworm. Also getting into Shadow slave and will see the other big webnovels after it.
you explained it very well thank you and good job 😊 ohh sh*t i got curious when you put "buttom tier tomozaki-kun" since i almost forgot about it, now i looked it up on the novels and damn (i won't spoil) i kinda hate it so i'll drop it now l, they says it has season 2 now on anime but what a shame it was a great anime speacially on season 1 i really liked it why did they made it into something like that my poor heart 😢
1:44 here's my take on what you've said at the very beginning of your video. Adaptations have a bunch of extra reasons why they fail versus original works. Not to say that adaptations are always bad but there's less incentive to handle adaptation projects with TLC.
SIASSW was great. Kinda sad that the ending was partially rushed, but it ended well and didn't have many plot points to tie up afterwards. 9.9/10 for me
